Been lurking on GPL since the Hammy vs Schlossman feud (epic). Now check in to read your posts👏👏👏. Friendly fire here without humility 😏

I missed out on that one...you care to recap?

Agree with upnorthkid,

a lot can happen in one year, let alone 2.  It's better for players and teams to commit to each other one season before they expect to roster.  Too much going on with portals and CHLers to have any real clear picture this far out.  On top of rosters and scholarships, the schools will also be needing to allocate NIL smartly and players (agents) will be savvy.

Cullen officially to the Gophers

Great trio of forwards for them this weekend, but certainly none of them were surprises...it would have been surprising if any of them chose a team other than UMN.

If we can land Thompson and Morris from that US group, I'm more than happy.

I'm curious to see if they target any other forwards with them getting 3 on the first two days? I had Buttweiler pegged for them as well but wonder if they are more patient with others now?

I get wanting to play for a team your dad is coaching for. Once I started playing soccer in middle school, I didn't want my dad to coach the team I was on.

I'm not surprised he went to Minnesota because of his dad being there.

I have a hunch he’ll be there next year if all works out this year.

Was thinking he might play as a draft eligible player as well.

Will be an interesting case study because college hockey even compared to when Macklin played has gotten alot better overall. I feel like Joey isn't as put together as Macklin/Eichel were but maybe someone can correct me on that

Is he planning on accelerating his education to graduate HS in 2027?

Craig Button listed his players to watch for Canada at the Hlinka/Gretzky cup and 5 are uncommited. I would imagine these 5 (at least 4 of 5) would be main targets for us. Maddox Schultz, Liam Pue, Brock Cripps, Brock England and maybe to a lesser extent Alexis Joeseph based on logistics?

You'd hope to be able to get 2 of those 4. Joseph seems like a Boston University or Boston College lock based on geography, but don't count Michigan or Michigan State out.

Brock Cripps, RHD (Canada)

Could Cripps be this year’s Xavier Villeneuve or Ryan Lin for Canada? The 5-foot-10 defenseman had a massive WHL rookie season, registering 37 points in the regular season and another 21 points in 20 postseason games with Prince Albert. Add in a gold medal game at the U-17s and it was hard to beat that type of introduction to the hockey world. Cripps is a highly skilled modern-day defenseman but obviously lacks the size scouts want. Does that mean he’ll fall in the draft? Probably, but nobody will deny his raw talent and hockey sense, and his frame won’t be a problem in Edmonton.

Brock England, C (Canada)

England was the primary reason to watch the Thunderbirds last season and that’s not going to change in 2026-27. I loved his play at the U-17 World Challenge, and it was nice to score more than 20 goals and 50 points as a WHL rookie. The strong skater does a great job of creating quality chances on the fly, blasting past older opponents like they’re standing still. He’s an excellent playmaker, too. For a mid-sized forward, England isn’t afraid of physical contact, either. I expect England to be one of Canada’s top scorers this year.

And then a current commit:

Brooks DeMars, LW (USA)

DeMars was one of the most talked-about players at the recent USA Hockey 17 Festival in New York. He had 11 points in six games for the Northern Plains District., nearly matching his full season output with the Penticton Vees last year. That was an older team, and he didn’t have an opportunity to really shine, but I expect that to change this year. He’s a big 6-foot-2 forward who powers through opponents with ease and has an outstanding shot release. More importantly, though, he’s a high-output facilitator who continuously finds open lanes, and isn’t afraid of taking the hard way to get to the net.
