yzerman19 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago chippaz beget more chippaz. I take 10 chippaz on my roster every day of the week 2 Quote
cberkas Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I'd like to stop getting 3rd and 4th liners from the portal and get more top line finishers. Talent wants to play with talent, when we got Verhoff talent wanted to play with him. Portal is for rebuilding not reloading, UND should be reloading not taking a rebuilding approach. With Ulmer being a scout for the Pat's, have to think Bryn talks to him about what they are looking at. Quote
AJS Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Is Michigan State going to win it all next year? Probably not. That also goes for every other team in the country. Only one can win and it probably won't be your team. They are going to win a lot of games and put themselves in as good of position as any. How much fun will those fans have though watching all that talent, not only next year, but following those careers moving forward in the NHL? 1 Quote

Portal is to get experienced guys that can help put you over the top because they have proven skills and compete level that you aren’t positive you can get from a first year forward, even if he has NHL potential. You’re not always going to get a guy that produces like Martone and Reschny. 1 1 Quote

You want the team to be full of freshmen and sophomores who will be here for 1-2 years at most? Quote

Does UND need to be like MSU, no but you need to still get 2 to 3 high end forwards for the top two lines. At least we are getting away from portal goalies. Also Denver gets 1 maybe 2 players from the portal a season. Quote

We have Cooper Simpson coming in, and he is probably drafted higher than many of Denver’s forwards were. We probably will just be getting our elite guys on defense, which could possibly be why they went with more experienced forwards. 1 Quote

This. If we have four FR dmen next season, they'll all be highly skilled, but FR nonetheless. They'll make mistakes, so it'll be good to have experienced 200ft forwards to help out until they get up to speed. Quote
yzerman19 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago good point. Michigan, Michigan State, BU, BC, Minnesota seem to draw the most forward chippaz. Perhaps the focus is D chippaz with maybe 1-2 forward chippaz per year Quote
yzerman19 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago The 5/5 rule is also going to make things very interesting... Quote

Helps your D out so much when your forwards aren't constantly turning it over at the blueline and feeding a team's transition going the other way. IMO that was the bigger issue at times in 2024-2025 when our defense was struggling. They had normal growing pains +++ were put into defending way too often when they never should have been from the jump Quote
