But the CHL will continue to grab higher end 16-17-18 year olds as compared to the ushl. And more Americans will go north too. At least until the ushl can beef up what they’re offering (as compared to what CHL teams can offer).

Agreed. I was trying to say that I’m not sure who will have overall better teams in head to head competition between USHL and CHL if CHL teams lose some of their older players. As we see in college, older teams win

One big difference is the CHL scholarship $.  You get money for school by playing in that league.  Now that you can get a school scholarship from NCAA on top of that, that's a big difference.  USHL does not currently offer that.

Do we think the CHL is going to rip up the Standard Player Agreement and only give you education money if you go to USports, as they don't want to give kids more money who are going to the NCAA?

Thus far they aren't ripping it up, but they are tweaking it downward

James Scantlebury signed a tender with Chicago (ushl)…interesting as he’s Canadian. He used to follow Und…doesn’t anymore for what that’s worth. High end Canadian kid.

Mason West not being interested in the (essentially) hometown Goofers is very good for us. Kind surprising tbh, wonder if that is indicative of where they're going with Motzko steering the ship. Or maybe he just wants to go further away from home for university.

I thought he was more football than hockey...in which case he definitely would get the hell out of Minnesota.

He’s from Edina….it’ll be like Notre Dame, St Thomas etc.

I think he sees the writing on the wall that he's a MAC QB at best for football and he's an early 2nd round pick if he commits to hockey.

Clarke Caswell to DU. Seems like a really solid get…solid numbers. Captain

That was someone I would have wanted.

What separates BU, BC & MI from DU & WMI is that the former recruit more 1-dimensional scoring Fs & the latter guys who play a 200 ft game. Carle & Ferschweiler are showing everyone the model in order to be successful, but the other leagues still refuse to listen.

5 star 5th round pick?

Yes, both are facts. No blue chip, but puck preps does have him as a 5 star. Should be a decent college player.

From Schloss

In an earlier podcast, Schloss had mentioned the OHL silent commit and called him a "mid-tier" player or something along those lines.
So hopefully not too big of a loss, and hopefully Bryn can find a comparable (or better...or MUCH better) WHL player to take his spot.

Called him a depth player… so not mid tier… I think we’re ok letting this one go.

Yeah if he is playing QB he doesn't have many options in Minnesota because he hasn't looked B1G level, for that matter Minnesota has had their 2026 QB commit since last summer.

your point and reference are fair. I just gotta say...Puck Preps...of all the "pay for" services, they seem to be most disconnected from the real scouting universe from what I've seen and know.

Next year, which Ritchie at this point doesn't want to completely define, could mean playing college hockey in the United States.

“He’s already completed his high school requirements,” Ritchie said. “We will evaluate what’s best for him next year."

"Of course, all the big hockey schools have reached out,” Ritchie added. "But we have isolated Gav from any distractions up to this point.”

-From an article in EP late last month; the Ritchie guy is Byron Ritchie, former NHLer & McKenna's agent. One can glean from the bolded part that McKenna is just going where his advisor steers him.
