Man I was told they wouldn’t be able to compete if they spilt up to 2 teams 😎 These FR and SOPH were 10U and 12U when ADs split. Thankful for a program that prioritizes girls hockey development. Plus retaining more girls in town than Fargo and West Fargo helps - we've lost quite a few but not as many as them. Oddly enough nobody complains about WF splitting, and they have as many if not more girls than the Blizzard ever had. Quote

Interested that Fargo North isn't listed as North/South on boys side but on the girls side it is. That was the pipe dream from what I'm told in the rumor mill. Tried to use Park Christian as their way into section 6A (the weakest conference now that Alexandria is in AA), but that was denied by the MSHSL. Quote

I think a split is coming soon for WF with 33 girls on the JV and Varsity this year and 13 at 15U. In the 40's with their 12U teams so a few years likely. I don't think they are quite at the numbers level that the Bismarck girls are. Roughly 50 between the two Varsity girls teams in Bismarck right now amongst St. Mary's, Century, BHS, Legacy, and Shiloh. They have 15U/14U with almost 30 girls collectively. *Edit, I see that the 12U levels at Bismarck are a tad low for feeding two teams in the future. Unless they move girls up to the 14U that won't get much out of playing 12U. Quote
Johnny Five Posted yesterday at 06:04 PM Posted yesterday at 06:04 PM I haven't paid attention much to the youth it's been awhile. The success of Britta Curl certainly has helped in Bismarck. There was definitely push back against the split for a time I'm not going to lie about that. Competition was a part of that (but that's also why the stated wanted them to split so others could win too, which teed up North). Another part of that was ice usage, then VFW3 showed up and that's not an issue. My daughter was a FR the first year of the split. It was definitely difficult for those JR and SR who at the time had been apart of the Blizzard Culture. The FR and SO didn't know any better, so it didn't affect them. All former Blizzard players have now graduated and it's girls and families who don't know any better, so it's all good. It's the new normal and doesn't get brought up anymore around here. Biggest issue now is whether or not SMCHS will have enough kids to help support CHS in the future, they've graduated a lot since when the COOPS first started. That's why, in hindsight (I guess call it maturity lol)...f*ck it, split 'em up Minot boys and WF girls. Nobody gonna die. 1 Quote

Brim006 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Who will be the top forwards in the state this year? Does Minot return any of their top line? Delziel at GFC, Marto GFC. Stromme from DL went neck and neck with Marto on team ND all spring so I’m guessing he’ll have 50+ points. Quite a few WF kids with potential for 40+ seasons too. Bismarck lost all of their top dawgs I believe but they’ll probably reload with a few studs. Quote

Wilbur Posted 19 hours ago Author Posted 19 hours ago Watched a bit of RR vs. Roseau and Minot vs. Davies. Ulmer had himself a ball game for RR. Davies was credited with like 54 shots on net, but I don't think they had quite that many. Quote
