Schmidt will need a few years to get his guys in place. 1 1 Quote

New era, new regime… I still think Simon has a role on this team, even if they have a package for him. the reason we've had "packages" for previous qb's is bc our qb's weren't too mobile or wereunwilling to be mobile (turtleing)...... sdac and ndac they pretty much have a qb that can throw AND run (gronk, mr trey, mattress boy, and peyton)....like jerry and javance and sulik can do. 2 Quote
Siouxperfan7 Posted yesterday at 03:25 PM Posted yesterday at 03:25 PM Schmidt didn't bring JTJ in because he wanted a experienced backup. JTJ will compete with Jerry for the QB1 job. Jerry has been in the system and has worked with Isaac, so he may have a slight edge. But JTJ is super athletic and was recruited to an FBS team. Should be a goof battle. Needs to be one of those two guys. Don't want there to be any surprises in late August when QB1 is announced. 3 Quote

Simon is more mobile than Sulik, and also probably a little more than Jerry. Quote

UNDvince97-01 Posted yesterday at 04:56 PM Posted yesterday at 04:56 PM I'd start a young guy at QB. We aren't winning a national championship this year, let's be honest. Start a young guy and deal with the challenges of it this year. Get him experience and let him make mistakes so he's ready and hardened for 2026 and beyond. There will be growing pains but it will be worth it in the long term. 1 3 Quote

That’s why I think it will be JTJ or Jerry 2 Quote

UNDvince97-01 Posted yesterday at 06:40 PM Posted yesterday at 06:40 PM I'd equate it to what the bunnies did with Gronowski his freshman year. He probably wasn't ready then. But it paid off in spades in the long term. 3 Quote

As for year #2… you better all have tickets for natty pre-ordered. Kalen DeBoer historically has done pretty well in year #2 using his program … what do we think will happen here with Schmidt? Boost up them expectations a bit, folks… 2 Quote

It will take some time however. You've really turned the corner though and I love it. 3 Quote

Plenty remains unproven right now, but the positive change in momentum over the past 7+ months is pretty obvious, also. I “turned the corner” because changes occurred after it was clear half a decade ago that Bubba wasn’t gonna get it done. Time will tell. But at this juncture anything but optimism is unwarranted. 5 Quote
