Not sure how she cannot be mentioned for at least a season. It was a general comment. People are still bringing up Rudy. Hutter was also on staff for a season prior. The roster was going to have to be rebuilt by someone regardless of who the head coach was. 10 minutes ago, fightingsioux4life said: These are her recruits. Until they are gone, Mallory is fair game. Half of them were. Hutter brought in the rest. Don't envy the position he was put in but this team was going to struggle regardless of who the coach was after half the roster graduated or transferred. Hopefully it is a quick rebuild, UND should be an attractive place to play. Based on your logic, do Bubba and Berry get credit for how football and hockey are doing since those are "their recruits"? I'm guessing I know your answer, which is why the constant bringing up coaches who has moved on (in multiple sports) is pointless. Or is it just a one-way street on it? 4 Quote

coachdags Posted Wednesday at 08:19 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:19 PM It should be noted that Dennis Hutter was hired in 3/2024, took the Head Job in 3/2025. The 10 players who left the program in 2024 left Mallory, Hutter, and Teammates. They all should shoulder some accountability. Some of these recruits, i'm sure he had a hand in, with 10 leaving, the team now is almost all his accomplishments and work. It is my opinion that we need someone with a D1 pedigree if we are serious about women's Basketball. The AD has yet to hire that person in his last 2 attempts. I do not believe we are currently a top 300 Team? (357 plays). A glaring Stat last year we ranked 339 in assist-to-turnover ratio, with 580 TO to 298 Assist. Should be a focus? We just had another 26 TO to 8 assists game with Green Bay. I'm losing confidence we will ever get there. 1 1 Quote

I agree with what you say about out A.D not hiring a D1 coach with experience, but you cant argue his record at Mayville State. You cant blame him for the recruits he got after Mal basically blew up the program and he was left at the end of the season trying to put a team together. This is first off our A.D fault for EVER hiring Mal in the first place. She got one year to prove herself and she did NOT do that and yet he hired her on. Basically because she was a former player. I believe at that time we did have some D1 coaches or assistants that applied. Then after 6 years of her basically destroying the womens program she is still not fired but steps down herself because her entire team basically left her. In comes Hutter to clean it up. The girls for the first time in 6 years that I have watched them actually improved last year from the beginning of the year until the end. I dont believe that was because of Mal but because of Hutter. I am very disappointed with how this year is going and what I am seeing on he court with the women, but I do believe Hutter deserves a shot now to right the ship. Just not as long a leash as Mal had. When will we ever be looking at firing our A.D before he destroys all our teams? Mens basketball, womens basketball and volleyball. If some alumni didnt get involved I believe we would still have Bubba as football coach, nothing to do with our A.D. 5 Quote

UND92,96 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I would not be surprised if Kiera Pemberton is back in the portal after the season. She's playing three minutes per game for Baylor. Their game against UNLV was on CBS sports network last night, and she had one brief appearance late in the first half, but that was it as far as I could tell. Quote

But that is the type of player Hutter is going to need to add in the near future. We desperately need scorers. Need to maybe take a run at Bergan Kinnebrew from Mary, if she's willing to leave Bismarck. Not recruiting her out of high school was a major mistake. She is every bit as good as her high school teammate Logan Nissley (now at Nebraska) in my opinion. Quote
