The game has changed. When the floodgates of NIL entered the conversation, it changed everything, even for hockey. It's not as apparent as it is in football, but it is heading in that direction. It's a young coach's game today, and older coaches, in general, are having a difficult time communicating with this pedigree of hockey players who are looking for that next-school-up, when it comes to $$ and playing time.  Berry is a coach of the past, and the game is passing him by.

Whoever is on the radar for coaching, needs to be of the coaching capability in this new era of NCAA sports - of a pay-to-play. Scholarships and boarding just aren't enough these days.

I think a lot of us fans are really overthinking the NIL deal. College hockey has always had to fight against pay for play leagues (Canadian Major Jrs.) and it has always worked out fine. We aren't going to have a million-dollar player, let alone a $100k player. If a player demands a lot of NIL money that means he is a top tier talent for the NHL and the NHL allows 18-year-olds to sign big contracts.

I agree with this. The biggest NIL deals will be in football (P4 FBS) and maybe some high-major basketball players. Hockey does not have the big media and sponsorship footprint that football and even basketball have.

Two players from CHL rumored to have been offered 7 figures.

The power five schools have the money for these situations. It is real and will have a huge impact on smaller schools (D2 w/D1 hockey) in the very near future!

Good thing we are not Division 2 anymore.

Ahh, the old “rumored” citation.   Cross my heart, hope to die.

I’ve read that Misa has been offered big $. I’m sure it’s partly true.

That rumor has been shut down. Players that are good enough to get offered good NIL money are more than likely good enough to sign an NHL deal that will make them more. Also, an 18 year old can play in the NHL, unlike an 18 year old who’s playing basketball or football.

It wouldn’t make any sense for him. He is the top prospect in the upcoming NHL draft will probably be picked 1st overall and sign a deal that will give him more money than what an NIL deal will give him.

He is one, yes that has been offered big cash.

And the school has come out and totally denied that claim. So who is the "other player" that has been offered big cash?

When would he likely leave for the NHL?

My guess is if he is drafted where they predict him to be drafted, he will be gone the following day. Misa, doesn't care about playing college hockey, he cares about making it to the NHL and making millions more than what an NIL deal will give him.

Please Berry do the right thing and step down after this season , this team needs a complete overhaul of its coaching stafff and style of play.

You might be on to something or on something...#common_man ;)
