 A news brief from last week.  What isn't mentioned is the AD announced 2 teams, started reaching out to the WDA and scheduling games, and then folded like a Jake Paul opponent when the "we gotta win" parents started pushing back with threats of stacking a Junior Gold team and more kids leaving.  

I'll never understand the Minot love affair with Junior Gold but whatever.  The HS and JV cut kids this year, Junior Gold cut kids, plus they had a bunch of healthy scratches for games.  That doesn't even include kids who may have quit after PW or Bantams because they could see the writing on the wall.  What Minot needs to do is nuke the precious JG program until 2 HS programs are cutting.  It's not rocket science...but as I stated, unbelievable that the AD folded, and honestly, it should be a school board decision/vote based on AD recommendations.

The South situation sucks.

Absolutely did not, and unless it's just a pile of cash, I can't for the life of me figure out why, but hats off to him for giving it a go. 

Now comes the MOST DIFFICULT thing for a hockey organization to do, shutting the EFF up about they way "they did it back in the day" and listening to the Director they felt the need to hire.

Form a North Varsity Team, a North-South Varsity team and a North-South JV team.  North students are able to pay on any of the 3 and South Students are available for North-South Varsity or JV Team.

Geez, 6.5k folks at the title game this year is fantastic. From the doom and gloomers on this board, it sounded like there were only 150 people there.

Couple ways of looking at it...a 5k arena at max capacity is probably a better atmosphere than 6500 at a 13k arena or whatever the Ralph holds. 

They rotate between GF and Fargo don't they?

Yes they rotate back and forth each year. Had the game been in Fargo between 2 GF teams I doubt they would've gotten 6.5k attendance, thus wouldnt have had to turn people away. But with title games surpassing 5k some years, it does make a good point of not having to turn away fans. But as well all know and have discussed, the second on site rink is a big deal. And until the REA changes their practice rink to a standard sheet with some bleachers it will always have that drawback and the back and forth rotation will continue.

Except having the consolation games across town at Eagles gives Fargo and Scheels/FU the edge.  If the Olympic was remodeled to be able to be a more convenient host....sure.

The next time GF team bounces out and gets sent to Eagles, will be the last time a State tourney game will ever be played at Eagles.

Any news of early departures other than Mattern obviously? Or kids transferring in or out of state to other towns/schools? I'll be curious to see what ends up happening with the FN+FS debacle.
