Eastern Washington's loss shows me even more we are going down the right path by following the Bison example of a ball control offense and dominating defense.  Eastern Washington had a comfortable lead and didn't even attempt running, going downfield just about every down.  If this was a one time thing for them it would be different, but they traditionally need to outscmuore teams, and that doesn't work so well come playoff time.  More depth and beef and UND should be well set to challenge consistently.

They had a lot of success on their last drive when they finally ran the ball.  I didn't see much of the game but I was surprised they didn't run more in the second half.

Agreed. Each year it's the same story in FBS and FCS, the high powered throwing offenses can look really good in the regular season, but come playoffs, it's the team that runs the ball and plays defense that comes out on top. Good news for us that Bubba knows this and that's his strategy, I just can't figure out why more teams don't do it in the Big Sky. When's the last time a high powered offense with a suspect defense has won it all?

Not a lot of high school teams lining up and playing smash mouth football out west.  There is a reason some Big Sky teams and FBS programs (Wyoming) make the investment trying to get some OL/DL out of MN and WI still.

I'd argue a big part of that is weather. Passing is far easier with a warm football and dry field versus a cold ball and treacherous footing. That said, the game to game fluctuation of a passing game ("hot", "clicking", choose your cliche) is far greater than that of a running game and a stout defense no matter the conditions.

I am pretty sure if you went tailgating in Fargo with anything UND on you would NOT be welcomed and might be abused.

you are correct - and I have went tailgating a couple of times in Fargo.  Both times I sported my UND Fighting Sioux apparel and I was jabbed but I wore it proudly.
