Two of our commits will be facing each other again on Friday when WR/DB Harry Momoh and Hopkins return to Lakeville to face Lakeville North and DE/TE Carl Engwall . There's also rumor of a slim chance that North's Tristyn Hanson might be ready to make an appearance in this game after missing the last 7 with a broken leg.

The two teams played played on August 28 and North won that one 39-13, but the North defense came up with 25 points in that game. The rematch should be a much better game.

Do you know if Tristyn still has an interest in UND?

I know he really likes UND and the coaching staff and had really good things to say after visiting. From what I hear it's still very much on his list. I heard he really liked Air Force after visiting there, too, but I really don't know which way he's leaning right now.

Lakeville North beat Hopkins and is heading to the Minnesota state playoffs. Tristyn Hanson was in uniform but did not play - just 7 weeks from a broken tibia, fibula, and displaced ankle. He's planning to play this week. Amazingly tough kid that has been going to painful therapy sessions twice a day to get back on the field. Amazing toughness from that kid. He'd look really good in green and white.

Yesterday's game versus Weber State basically confirms what we already knew; this team, due to Mussman's piss poor recruiting, has very few quality DI players (depth a concern also). There needs to be roster turnover and a lot of recruiting, both in HS prospects and with transfer prospects, this off-season.

Thankfully, Bubba realizes this and he knows the type of athletes UND needs from being at Southern Illinois. Eventually, Bubba will get the athletes he needs.

2014 recruiting class still has tons of potential due to all the early playing time within it already and 2015 class is looking good also.

I talked to someone pretty close to the program and we should expect a bigger recruiting class this year again as there are some in the team that won't be back again. I doubt it will be as big as last year but we will be losing more than usual amount of players this offseason. Hopefully Bubba can continue to find great athletes that will dedicate themselves to him and the program.

Do you think with the current QB situation they will bring in just 1 QB or maybe 2?

I'm the kind of guy that thinks you need to bring in at least one QB a year. This team has the luxury, hopefully if all stay, of taking its time so a Trey Anderson type where he redshirts and than has a year or two before competing for playing time. With two upper class man getting time and the true freshman playing there will be some QB controversy next year and does the odd man out not like it and move on? Or is everyone dedicated to the program? Time will tell.

So let's assume we bring in 30 players next year. We need a mix of drop downs JUCOs and HS players again. We can consider drop downs and JUCOs in the se category. The way I see the roster we need the following:

2 hog transfers

2 WR transfers

1 DL transfer

2 DB transfers

Out of HS

2 qbs

2 rbs

3 wrs

4 hogs

3 DL

4LB

4 DB

Perhaps a punter

So far our commits consist of:

Elijah Grady - DL (ND)

Carter Blackwell - WR (ND)

John Santiago - RB (MN)

Zack Williams - OL (MB)

Carl Engwall - DL (MN)

Brady Oliveira - RB (MB)

Mason Bennett - OLB (MB)

Steve Greer - DL (MO)

Donnell Rodgers - LB (MN)

Harry Momoh - LB (MN)

Patric Rooney - OG (MN)

So far I like what we have coming in. Grady could play on either side of the ball which gives the coaches more flexibility, if they can get another quality guy on either side they can move Grady over. Santiago, RB or WR? He's got nice speed either way which is what we need. He and Olivera could be a nice 1-2. Williams and Blackwell need a couple years to develop. I like how athletic the LBs are so far. Greer looks like he could be a wrecking ball. Overall this class need a little more beef and ALOT more speed on the outside.

Bubba shortened his timeframe to get things together in my opinion when he insisted on bending over for NDSU and wanted to schedule two away games.  He darn well better be competative next year or that decision will be a disaster.

That game isn't the deadline. UND most likely will not have it all together by week 3 next season. It will take a year or two to acquire the pieces and develop them before UND is a FCS playoff-caliber team.

And getting beat down by FU by 40 points will help in the rebuilding process how?  This was the worst decision Faison has ever made; I hope it turns out better than I think it will. ???

We won't be nearly as bad in week 3 next year as we are right now (due to all of the injuries etc.).  What I'm hoping for is that by week 3 next year that we are a little better than we were mid seasonish when we played Montana and Portland State.  With a healthy team and hopefully some improvement on offense I think we can be, and if we are we'll have a chance to make it a fairly competitive game.  It really stinks though having zero momentum going into next season......we had some going for a little while but with injuries and everything else we have taken a big step back.  Once we are healthy again I don't think it will take long for us to take another step forward.

Here are some keys that I believe are essential to our success . We have some kids here who can play. We need to get more quality kids and we need to allow the kids we have develop. We have a good start to 2015 recruiting but we need to continue to get quality kid to fill out the 2015 class. We need some key transfers and some key JUCO kids. We need to fast track the indoor practice facility and especially get phase 2 started within the next year. This needs to be a priority for the University as well as the athletic dept. This facility must be designed to upgrade our speed and strength and conditioning for all sports. If also needs to be a research facility for not just Sports Medicine, kinesiology and excercise physiology but occupational health and work related injuries. Include that in the plan, involve the med school and attract oil money with the plan to study prevention, treatment and rehab for oil industry related injuries. That facility is one of the major keys to our success in Div 1 moving forward. I don't believe we are as far away as some but I may be wrong.

Two games left. Still a chance to show that the team is better than last year by winning more games. Time to send the seniors out on a high note.

I'm very worried about our QB situation for next year.   Bartels is the only guy I have any faith in at all.   Mollberg has had ample time to show what he has, and he's lacking.   Studsrud hasn't impressed me at all.  I know he's young and got thrown into the fire, but he's got a long ways to go before he's a top notch D1 player.   Here's hoping that Ryan Bartels can improve enough next year to get something done, otherwise, it's going to a complete, unmitigated disaster from the get go.   Just calling it like it is.

.

UND gets "beat down" by 40 against NDSU, then UND will likely get "beat down" versus Montana and Eastern Washington as well, and those games are played essentially annually. The point is, playing NDSU should happen all the time, if not annually. This idea that we should throw blame on scheduling is just plain stupid.

If you're worried/scared competing against other FCS programs, particularly rivals, then being successful is out of the question. Embrace the challenge.

Precisely - "most likely will not have it all together" - Not saying we shouldn't play them ever, we just don't have to bend over to these terms just to get a game we won't be ready for.  We need time to rebuild the train wreck that was the Muss era.  This is on Bubba if things go south.

If it were home and home, then great, let's have at it - but to agree to these terms is just plain reckless.

At least Bubba has balls. He's also got a vision for the future, he's not merely trying to survive til next year, he wants to build a juggernaut.

So you are going to judge a kid who agrees to pull his redshirt for the good of the team because he is an inexperienced freshman who has a ways to go??? You think either the kid or Bubba wanted to do this? Mollberg who is 6'2" and 230 lbs lasted 8 games and Bartels who is 6'2" and 218 lbs lasted only 2 games. I hope the kid can survive 2 more games without getting hurt. I don't think you understand the difficulty all 3 of these guys have had to endure. They take a beating week after week. You expect them to stand in a collapsing pocket and make every play every time. You can't throw Studsrud under the bus. He should have 2 more years to develop. He is a good athlete with a lively arm. Judge him in a couple of years. Give either of the other 2 time to throw, a running game and receivers who can run the right routes and catch the ball, then criticize them. QB isn't the problem right now. If Mollberg is healthy he will be the QB. If Bartles stays, and heals he will be the QB if Mollberg isn't healthy. Watch the FCS games or the NFL games. The best QBs in the game don't play as well without a surrounding cast of players who can block, pass protect, run the ball, catch the ball and hang on to the ball. I disagree you are calling it "like it is". I don't think you are taking into account that no QB is much good without his teammates. You are calling it as you see it just like I am and the rest of us rubes who contribute to fan blogs.
