Bison Dan Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Point out the error. Read the SS MC actuary reports. No one is saying that they didn't pay into it but when you take out many times more than you put in someone has to make up the difference, right? Quote

Oxbow6 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Yeah the one that can argue with facts vs. unfounded debunked propaganda. Like before the last Presidential election with Benghazi as just one example? Got it...... Problem is all those constantly "taking" don't give a $#&@ about facts on any topic as long as they keep getting what's "owed" them. Carry on......... Quote

Do you write off your therapy horse? We know all the righties who yake like there is no tomorrow don't care about facts. That is why when their facts are debunked by independent sources they still repeat them. Your concern with the number of embassy attacks under Bush and not CIA outposts is? By the way there was 13 of them and not a peep from Fox about them. Your concern of the 247 dead Marines in Beruit is? Quote

And what else has not gone up by much more? Blame the state legislatures for failing to fund higher education. You seem to think that I am in favor of how high tuition has gotten? Actually I dislike it as much as you do. I just don't vote for the people who caused it. It is wrong how much debt students have to take on to fund their education. Especially when the people that are causing it got their higher education at a nicely subsidized level that they now deny to others. Quote

Uncle_Rico Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Never thought I would see a blizzard warning thread get locked, but I guess there's a first time for everything. I remember a former poster named Watchmaker that used to contribute to that happening quite often. I wonder whatever happened to him? Quote

You seem to have changed your tune since you disagreed with my assertion that students pay more for education today than those that are retiring did. You implied that retirees paid roughly the same amount, after factoring in inflation. You also said that students should pay the actual cost of tuition instead of asking the takers (retirees) to pay for it. Will you admit that you were wrong? Quote

Bison Dan Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 How much more are people taking out than paid into it? Does this apply to your parents also? It applies to everyone that draws (on average) 3-4 years. After that they're taking out more than they put in. You do realize that 50 years ago SS tax was hardly anything. Quote
MafiaMan Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 LOL...I used to debate my late grandpa on this all the time. Up until the day he died (at 93 years old), he was certain the government had some sort of "trust account" for everyone on Social Security that their "investment" had been earning interest on until they retired. It never dawned on him that there was no way possible that the nickels and dimes taken out of his paycheck in the 1940's-1970's couldn't possibly turn into the thousands of dollars that he would receive monthly after he retired until he passed away in 2008. Do the math, smokey. He was one of millions. Back on topic: It's cold outside today but I don't think we have a blizzard on the way. Quote
