Standard lunacy in Seattle. The new mayor shares in that lunacy - she said there is no reason why Seattle can't have two arenas. Except for the city council voting against allowing the closure of one block required to build the new arena. And the Port of Seattle trying to block it. And the backers only wanting basketball.

The Vegas Golden Knights have set a new NHL record for most wins by an Expansion franchise in their inaugural season with 34.

The previous record of 33 was held by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and the Florida Panthers.

So what are we all gonna do when they make the playoffs with Marc-Andre Fleury in between the pipes?

So if/when Seattle comes in, who gets kicked over to the Central?

The best solution is move Calgary and Edmonton over to the Central, and move Colorado to the Pacific.  The Jets would be happy and the Canucks would have an intense rival down the road.

Arizona could move to the Cemitral, but they are effectively in Paciific time for part of the season.

This is an interesting article that talks about how the NHL could have a leg up on the NBA if they are here first. Here's a quick history lesson first. About 10-12 years ago the Sonics "asked" the city to make $200M in renovations to Key Arena. Since the city had made $200M in renovations about 10 years before that, they said no. So the owner of the Sonics (Howard Schultz) decided to sell the team. The buyer (Clay Bennett) said he would really try to keep the team in Seattle. Yeah sure he would. The team moved to Oklahoma City, where coincidentally Bennett lives. The commissioner of the NBA (David Stern) said quite angrily "Seattle will never have an NBA team again!" It wouldn't hurt my feelings if bringing an NHL team here keeps the NBA out of town. Good riddance
