Only difference is PNC Arena isn't on campus.  Not sure ho the logistics of the whole thing would work out, but not sure how the NHL feels about and NHL team playing in a building on a college campus.

TSN reported last week that Austin might be the next site.  That enough of a coincidence to me.  OVG has an existing relationship with the NHL and that arena will need many more dates.

You certainly love to stretch the truth on dang near everything. Here's the "report" from TSN:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.tsn.ca/insider-trading-are-there-any-unknown-markets-the-nhl-could-expand-to-1.1222220%3ftsn-amp

"But Austin, Texas, is an interesting market. Right now it's an AHL city with an 8,000-seat stadium, so they would obviously need to build another rink. There isn't an ownership group that has stepped forward and said that they want in on Austin, but it is an intriguing market for the NHL that could one day down the road be on the radar because it's a faster growing market and it is a unique niche."

That "report" you mention is 3 sentences. That's the whole thing and it's buried in a blog post.

So you’re saying there’s a chance? :)

So with the OVG group, the same company remodeling Seattle’s Key Arena, building a new 17 k arena next to UT’s football stadium, all Austin would need is a NHL owner.  Perhaps TSN and yours truly are just more informed than you are.

Could even open up the possibility of Longhorn hockey.

Not a mention about ice making equipment in that article, but I'm sure they just missed that part in such an extensive piece.  You clearly are more informed.

It's incredible how much !@#$ you make up.

The total and complete lack of financial sense is really telling with you.  UT isn’t paying one dime for a new 17k arena and they will get a home court for mbb, wbb, Vb  and other UT events.  How does OVG make money unless on this transaction unless many other dates are more or less set in stone?  Icemaking is normal for such big arenas,  but you claim to know everything, but have absolutely no wisdom.   Austin could not be getting an NBA team, as San Antonio is so close,  but an NHL one is possible as Austin has many corporate HQ, just like San Jose, Raleigh, Nashville and Columbus and is relatively wealthy and growing fast.  Apple is building a billion dollar 2nd HQ campus on the north side.   The Columbus Crew MLS owner just agreed to swap that team for an MLS expansion one because Austin has greater potential than Columbus.  The NHL knows that.

You do realize that concert seating of 17k means actual sporting event seating of 15k? That's less than the Jets stadium which is already considered small by NHL standards.

It's shocking an MLS owner thinks a team in Texas would have more people attend and attract better players than a team in Ohio.

Houston and Atlanta are also much higher on the HQ list than Austin but where are their NHL teams?

Please provide a single article that says anything about ice or hockey related in this new arena and I'll gladly recant any negative comment I've said about how full of !@#$ you are. But if you can't, I think it's once again time you take another break from SS.com because of your constant lies and bs.

So you actually realize that Austin will have an upper deck that will be “curtained” off the better fill the UT B.B. games.  The whole arena will have an upper deck, which greatly increases capacity.  A B.B. court doesn’t increase the capacity for concerts much, so your insistence that it will not have an ice surface is so incredibly lame.  Like arguing with the child poster you are.

So TSN saying Austin would be a good NHL City isn’t good enough for you?  Well here’s another recent one that says Austin is a prime candidate and now it might have a viable arena near downtown.

http://dailyhive.com/montreal/possible-nhl-expansion-cities

Austin would embrace pro sports, just Vegas and Columbus, did when they first got pro franchises.

Interesting that UNDfootball360 includes #thinkFBS on its twitter now.   Looking forward to your and Goon’s twitter war with them, otherwise both of you are just plain hypocrites.

Pretty sure that's a reference to where the next OL coach currently is....

yeah but in Siouxvolley speak that # includes a hidden code that translates to an nhl arena in austin, Mayville sate going to the SEC, and the King of Finland being hired as the Assistant AD at NDSCS..... who will also be jumping to D1.

You do realize a concert capacity is bigger than a sporting event capacity?  The Ralph can hold an extra 1,500 for concerts. The MTS Center in Winnipeg had 17,000 for a concert but is low 15,000 for hockey. The upper deck is included in the capacity listed for concerts, which means the arena is most likely too small for the NHL.

The article you posted says nothing about the new arena.  You once again are creating connections that just aren't there.

Let's see just one article or blog post or anything that indicates ice making equipment will be installed in this arena. It can't be that hard if you're citing all these sources as proof you're right.

Arenas do not typically list concert capacity as the main one instead of sporting capacity as there several configurations.  So the Alerus lists it’s capacity at 20k for sporting events?  It’s common sense to list actual permanent seats first.

Hockey’s Future website has a big thread on an Austin NHL team with links.  https://hfboards.mandatory.com/threads/the-nhl-is-eyeing-austin-texas-instead-of-houston-bob-mckenzie.2578775/page-11

Suggest that you go there and tell everybody there that they are dum**sses.

Erwin Center has ice because they have previously hosted ice events and presume UT wants the same only more modern.

Why have you never answered us how OVG will spend $300 mill on construction, and actually make a profit.  Arenas might break even without including initial capital costs, but few actually pass that hurdle ( MSG, Staples Center and maybe a few others in large Metro areas can) and that’s with UT using the arena free for 50 dates.  Austin has an intense music and concert scene, but doubt that would make OVG break even with financials if capital costs are included without another major tenant.  But Austin makes more sense than Columbus, which has been an NHL team for almost 20 years, but that is completely denied by you.  Columbus was hardly a hockey town in 2000.

Austin doesn’t have a named potential interested owner yet, so that is a big hurdle, but there are many locals that could swing it like Michael Dell and Bo Brigham who made his fortune in the Bakken.

So that's a no on any report about the new arena and hockey.

Holy cow dude you are still missing the point.

Am talking about UL Monroe and Texas St and Troy but you and Goon, Southpaw and dub just assume Ohio St.

Thats some holy cow for you boys.  Nothing sinks into you brain.  Coastal Carolina had a 9000 average and a 10k stadium before they moved up.  You should spend your time on their board telling them how disastrous the decision was.  You all can’t even be reasoned with.

So King is an FBS former assistant coach, NOT.  That figure should me more applied to you and Southpaw.

Kuper has not been at an FBS level for any job.

King is the new WR coach. The 2 candidates being interviewed this week for the OL coaching spot are currently at FBS schools.

I'll spell out out for you:

-The one single tweet that has a reference to FBS was about potential candidates for the open OL coach. As in the finalists being considered in a previous blog post were the ones with FBS experience.

-King is the new WR coach and the tweet had nothing to do with him.

-Kuper has been on staff in the NFL and is well beyond coming back to UND in that capacity and literally has nothing to do with any of this. Though it would be awesome.

However being how you misconstrued that tweet into something relating to UND moving FBS gives a great insight into some of the assumptions and theories you bring up.

Did not misconstrue anything.  But knew it would bother the hell out of you trolls.

FBS will not be mentioned when Montana and Idaho join the Summit, but a few years later they will announce.

The 360 Guys had one tweet with #thinkFBS. Doesn’t mean much other than the coach might be from FBS.

I don’t see how you can get UND is going FBS out of that. I would think the two guys are from FBS schools.
