Emerald joker Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 They had to have one Regional with no WCHA teams, they do not want 4 WCHA teams in the Frozen Four. You have to beat the best to be the best. I think they've done that sense 2005? EFFIN hypocrites Quote
MissSioux85 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Single game tickets for the Midwest Regional in Toledo, OH are $45! And the NCAA committee wonders why attendance is always low. I wonder how those prices compare to the other three regionals. The most I have ever paid thru the box office for a single game ticket for college hockey is $55, and that was Sioux vs. Gophers at Mariucci in January. Quote

I think $75 for a package is fine - $25/game, but to charge $45 for ONE game is a bit much in my opinion, especially when they depend on locals to help fill the arena. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Single game tickets for the Midwest Regional in Toledo, OH are $45! They're trying to cash in on "Our Lady of the Glittery Bonnets of South Bend" and "The Brotherhood" being there. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 @SchlossmanGF: DU will travel 400 more miles for its regional this weekend than BC has traveled for regionals in the last 13 years COMBINED. @SchlossmanGF: BU and BC have got on a plane 3 times for a regional in the last 13 years. The teams lost by four goals in 1st rd each time. @chnews: Recent committee member: "Was shocked at how they did it ... Supposed to protect the #1 seed with #16 and #8 for 2nd round. Didn't do it." I'm not sure which of those three factoids/statements disgusts me most. Quote
Let'sGoHawks! Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I'm not sure which of those three factoids/statements disgusts me most. The one about BU and BC not getting on a plane is the worst one for me! Not cool. Quote
George M. Bluth Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I think it's weird/awesome that Minnesota, the 1 seed in the regional, plays the early game, and UND gets the late game. I'd think usually the 1 seed plays later. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 "DU will travel 400 more miles for its regional this weekend than BC has traveled for regionals in the last 13 years COMBINED." Run the math on that: Denver to Manchester is 2000 miles. If DU will travel 400 miles more that means 1600 miles is the baseline for comparison. 1600 miles / 13 years is an average of 123 miles per year. Put that in perspective: Over the last 13 years, on average, what BC has had to travel is the equivalent of Grand Forks to Bemidji. Quote

AZSIOUX Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 Theoretically, the #1 seed has more time to rest after a win. Exactly the 1 seed plays earlier for rest in most all cases Quote
AZSIOUX Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 45.00 per game in Toledo is hilarious. My god will the NCAA ever get a clue?! 75.00 - 90.00 max for a 3 game package would work. Just another joke by NCAA hockey. Pound the purple eagles Quote
runaroundsioux Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Does anyone know if the west regional winner will play the first or second game on Thu. of Frozen Four. Quote
jodcon Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Does anyone know if the west regional winner will play the first or second game on Thu. of Frozen Four. The last 2 years they have played the late game, can't remember earlier years. Quote
SiouxAlum01 Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I am sure if BC makes the Frozen Four, they will be the night game. If we make it and BC doesn't we will be the night game. Quote

So in 12 years they travelled 550 miles or an average of about 45 miles per year. I checked my math twice as that almost seems impossible but that's what it is. Quote

UND left on a charter flight early this afternoon, and apparently the Gophers are on a separate charter flight. Odd that Wisconsin and Denver are currently sharing a plane. Quote
fargosioux Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 North Dakota and Minnesota on the same plane would be even better. That would make for some good footage for "Through These Doors". Quote

When Team US flew from Helsinki to Ufa for the World Juniors this past year, they were on a flight with Team Canada, Team Sweden and Team Finland. They were also on the same flight out of Ufa. I'm sure that was interesting... Quote
