That was an amazing finish, on par with the USD finish last season. Major kudos to the UND offense, despite whatever the hell the coaches were trying to do in the 3rd quarter. 4th quarter we went back to what worked (most of the time, running on 3rd and 3 or 4 still leaves me befuddled) and the players made it happen. Hardin is a beast, enough said there. Hanson showed some balls on that final play, he had to have known he was going to get crushed but he stood in, made an accurate throw, and the rest is history.

I get that UND's coaching decisions seemed off for parts of the game but certain players didn't look very good in the 3rd quarter either. The defense wasn't great but played a lot better today, when I watch I still feel like they let the play come to them and try to tackle instead of stepping up to make the tackle. Maybe to much thinking and not enough reacting, it almost seems like they are overcoached.

Just got back to Fargo, my voice hurts like hell. As for the game itself Montana should have won it. UND played horrible in the third quarter and Montana's recievers dropped passes one of them would've been a TD. Our defense continues to suck. If UM would have stopped Hanson we would've been destroyed. As for the fans, I was sitting next to a couple Grizzlies fan and in front of us were Montana fans from Sidney. They were the nicest people. 100% class act all the way. They cheered, they brought the cowbell, it was nice to have a conversation with them the whole game. They drank a lot of beer to keep the Grand Forks economy going. They said we had a nice building and the game was great that it came down to the end. A guy said if they would have had their star RB he would have made some big plays up the middle (I believe it!). Great people, and they said its too bad us two teams couldn't play every year. I told him UND's "rival games" were Montana State and Northern Colorado, but UM will be in Grand Forks the next two years (2013 is a non-conference game to make up the end of the home and home from 2010) and then conference play resumes in 2014. Great game, I really thought OT was coming. I could have killed Mussman when UND had 3 time outs and 1:30 left in the first half and he pissed it away by running the clock out. I told my dad 14 points against our defense is not a safe lead. Hanson and Hardin...UND's version of Montana to Rice, awesome connection. 660 yards for Hanson and 330 for Hardin...holy crap!!! If only our defense was strong. Oh for you NDSU fans...there was a guy among the Montana fans about 5 or 6 sections over wearing a Bison shirt...guess who he was cheering for. I hope our offense shows up against MSU, just leave the crappy defense at home.

But they didn't to all the bold above. The only thing that kept Montana in this game was us stopping ourselves with penalties and dropped passes. I saw nothing that made me leave thinking Montana should have won this game.

The defense played very well down the stretch. First time all year I've been proud of the D for more than 5 min. They kept UND in the game long enough for the offense to start clicking again. 500+ yards again sucks though..... hopefully they build on how they finished.

Just got back to Fargo as well. All credit goes to the players for this win. Read into that as you wish. I'll disagree w Darrell in that I thought UND could of and should of won this game handily.

Griz D is worse than ours...if that's possible, but 5 straight stops to end the game was the difference.

Offensively, one word...Madden-like!!! Wow!

Didn't see a second, but followed the game on my phone. Up and down and up and down. Give props to the much hated on defense for getting a stop, and the offense for putting the nail in the coffin at the end.

Now where is that poster from Montana that rode his high horse in here and said UND couldn't compete?

I understand root has the game, and I know they are holding out on midco, right after midco announced the deal with und I asked on midco forum if they intended on adding root.

Here is their response We have no intent on adding root sports.

Midco did not broadcast this game at all because it was on Root. Root does not want to give its games to cable companies, or sell them a single game, they are trying to get their product on systems on a full time basis. There is no way that anyone was going to be able to carry this game unless they agreed to add Root as a regular channel. Root has an agreement to carry one exclusive game each week, this week it was UND-Montana.

As far as the rest of the games, Midco offered Fox College Sports the same deal on UND games as they had in the past. Fox College Sports decided that they only wanted to show UND hockey games this year, they didn't want the football games or any other UND games. Blame Midco all you want, but that decision is actually on FCS. If you don't like the decision, tell Fox College Sports. Midco offered to give the games to FCS at no cost, FCS never paid for any of those games, and FCS wouldn't even take the free feeds. What do you want UND and Midco to do, pay FCS to show the games?

They had the ball about 5 minutes left their WR dropped a pass which IMO if he caught it would have made it 41-31. But it didn't happen and UND squeeked one out. The losing streak is over.

UND's defense did really good towards the end but they need to do that the whole game. I still don't get why Muss went for it on 4th and 1 and not take the points.

As bizarre as UND's decision was to run up the middle on 3rd and 3, perhaps as odd was Montana's decision to throw a long pass with a little over 5 minutes to go in the 4th quarter and up 34-31. The incompletion stopped the clock, and played a big role in Montana going three and out and only running a very small amount of time off the clock. I felt that Montana's clock management/play calling in the last five minutes was terrible.

I don't know if UND's 3rd quarter or Griz's 4th quarter was more poorly called from an offensive standpoint.

Do know everyone in my section was screaming play to win and not to lose in the second half.

At the time, with the way our defense was playing I had no problem with Muss going for it on 4th. The call I had the most trouble with was running it between the tackles on 3rd and 3. If I would have ran it, it would not have been with Sutton.

My guess is that Root wants more money than Midco is willing to spend. That's what is normally the reason cable companies don't add specific channels. If Midco customers want Root they should start asking for it. If enough people ask maybe they will add it in time for next year's football season or before.

Did anyone see a good view of the INT by Montana in the 3rd that was scooped up closely to the turf. I thought it hit the ground but of course the refs didn't agree and called it a pick. On the radio after the game even Hanson didn't think it was a pick.

He learned his lesson last week that you need TDs. Can't blame him for having balls, although consistency would be nice.

What will it take for UND to pitch a shutout? Besides a miracle.

I am not a Midco customer, I cannot be, but I am a Directv and Fox customer. We are trying to appeal to UND to work with these people to get this back to at least the coverage we had the last few years. At a time when this FB program is really starting to blossom, we lose TV coverage in an area of the upper midwest where we have large alumni presence. That is a great marketing and recruiting strategy.

Agreed. Why when we hadn't gotten more than a yard between tackles do we run it twice on third and 3 or 4 during this game?

Many were calling for the OC's head in the 2nd half. It was so bad one almost forgot about how the D was playing.

There is no way root would be worthwhile for midco. Fsn north has regional broadcast rights for pro sports so if midco carried root rockey mountain there would be a lot of black outed programming. Iceberg knows best on this stuff but that is my understanding when it comes to pro sports. And in no way am I an expert.

Bunch of Griz fans on eGriz said it was a bad call and it hit the turf.

I was saying Fire Mussman after the missed 4th and 1 and the 3rd down and 3 or 4 that they ran the ball on. Damn I was pissed.

Grizz fans next to me thought the fair catch interference on the punt was a bad call that he was blocked into the runner.
