if NDSU wants to privately fund this thing … try it … but the State of North Dakota better not even think about bailing out that pathetic institution at the expense of disregarding North Dakota’s flagship university

Great, gap was closing and it took 20 years to catch up. We’ll probably get left behind and the only big game of the year will be South Dakota again.

Technically that’s inaccurate … but it looks better than actually reporting a declined figure.

Again, the political games going on in the background here are immense … Grand Forks and UND would be wise to closely monitor and take action as necessary.

Nah …If there isn’t backdoor fraud, it could be and should be a lateral move with disaster potential… but UND can’t get complacent and needs to be proactive … on the field but more importantly with boosters and in legislation

That's the problem, we'll be pushed back again and we won't have the option to move like we did with FCS years ago.   For us to try working our way into FBS is going to be a years and years long process.   That FBS tag on them sucks, no other way to word it.   So what's our position now on future games?   We'll refuse to play them again or we insist they have to play us again?   I'm a little confused on that part.

You know ndsu would never vote to let UND in their conference, it would be only for sdsu and Montana’s  they would be for

History repeats itself. This is the only move the ag college could make with UND catching up to them  … just like circa early 2000s when made escaped to Division I after UND finally got on top. 

UND will need to get real serious with their funding model and future moves now or this will be a repeat of 15 years ago …

I was surprised they let us into the MVFC.    I think they knew the rest of the state would come down hard on them if they opposed us.    I don't doubt they'll try and keep us out of the MW though and I doubt we have any support from any of the other schools anyway.

Good for NDSU. About time they made the move.  
 

Now, a bigger stadium and build the program even more.  
 

UND belongs in FCS.  Be jealous of NDSU if you want, but both programs finally land where they need to be   You all know it is true  

 

I can see a rotation of the Dakota schools every year having one playing them.  One year UND. The next SDSU.  Then USD. 
 

Again   Good move for NDSU

I think there will be a wholesale reorganization of D1 football anyway. It will be interesting to see

They will fully oppose any conference alignment that allows UND to partner with them. They will also of course be completely against out of conference FCS-FBS matchup with UND-NDSU. 
Ultimately this was the only move left for ag college and they did it. Now the monetary/political games either begin or UND non-hockey sports (namely football) fall behind again

The thing is, why was UND always playing catchup?    It still goes back to 20 years ago when certain people were bound determined to prove NDSU wrong and refuse to look at reason and move up to D1.   That moronic move was very costly and will be for a long time.

Wrong. Awful move if you care about political transparency and UND being held in proper regard. There won’t be a rotation. NDSU won’t allow that … at least with UND. We’ve seen this before. It’s a repeat of 23 years ago.

Can’t argue with that. Still playing catchup and now $10 million or so (actually more) behind that ag college … whether fraudulent or not … and it’s fraudulent we all know

Good for NDSU.  In the FM area there is a need for FBS   They will fill it    In GF they can support an FCS program   They fill that  

 

It has little to do with their academics or student interest.  It is marketing.
