dakotadan Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I have to say that I like that UND was able to get Louisiana Tech to come to Grand Forks so late in the season. Besides Northern Iowa, this is the closest thing we have had to a "name" team and the first FBS school that has come here. They're no ACC or Big East team, but considering how difficult it is to get teams to come here it is a good get. Now let's show up to the game and pack the Betty so the athletic department keeps trying to bring in bigger schools. Quote
GeauxSioux Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I get to watch the Sioux again on FCS Central. Cool. GO SIOUX!! Quote
star2city Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 La Tech vs UND - College Division Tournament - 1967 Louisiana Tech is 1-0 all-time against North Dakota. On March 10, 1967, future Lady Techster coaching legend Leon Barmore was a senior guard and led the Bulldogs with 20 points in an 86-77 win over the Fighting Sioux in the first round of the NCAA Small College Tournament in Bloomington, Ill. Jon Stephenson recorded 18 points and 11 rebounds and Richard Peek, Tech's second-ever NBA Draft selectee, also added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. UND release: In a write up by former UND sports information director Lee Bohnet preceeding the game, he described the Bulldogs as being “tall as trees”. Richard Peek was the tallest of those tree at 6-foot-11 and he along with forward Jon Stephenson each had double-doubles in the victory. However, it was 5-foot-10 Tech guard Leon Barmore that led the team in scoring with 20 points. Hester, who had a game-high 22 points, and Jackson, who added 21, provided the scoring punch for the Sioux, but it was an early first-half run by Louisiana Tech that turned the game in the Bulldogs’ favor. UND was trailing by just one at 15-14 before Louisiana Tech reeled off a 14-1 run to claim a double-digit advantage. Quote

This is the start of 3 huge games for the men. Go Sioux Quote
