Have a hard time believing we'll be playing outdoor baseball in this area on April 2nd. Gotta melt 20 ft. of snow, get the river below flood stage, and have temps. in the mid 40's minimum to play? darell1976 Posted January 20, 2011 Share Posted January 20, 2011 There is actually about 4 1/2 feet of snow in Fargo right now, I believe that Newman Outdoor Field is quite a ways from the river and will be unaffected by the flood waters, and the average high temperature in Fargo on April 2nd is 46 degrees. I think it might be doable. I've seen high school baseball teams practicing outdoors in March and I've seen years when they have trouble getting games in before the middle of May. It just depends on how the Spring develops. Newman is roughly 17 blocks west of the river and out of the flood zone from the river but not safe from the sewars, and overland flooding. Due to bad field conditions, the games that were scheduled for Fargo have now been moved to Kraft Field in GF. So all of the games will be played in GF...Looks as though the new infield is already paying dividends. I should mention that the outfield at Kraft Field is still pretty wet however and if it doesn't improve, they may still may have to postpone the games... dakotadan Posted April 15, 2011 Author Share Posted April 15, 2011 UND BASEBALL: Sioux looking to turn it around UND is scheduled to open the home portion of its baseball schedule today against Utah Valley at Kraft Field, where a new artificial infield is now in place. Utah Valley is 4-0 in the Great West Conference and 11-17 overall while UND is 0-4 and 1-19. Today's game was postponed due to this rediculous weather. UND and UVU will play doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. The Sioux are coming off a disappointing Great West series against Houston Baptist.
