Cratter Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 This season saw the first home win vs UMD in the programs history. Hopefully next weekend they can beat U of M for the first time EVER. 0-28. 2 Quote

Cratter Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 The Sioux made their 2010-11 poll debut at No. 8 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine weekly poll, the highest ranking in progam history in any poll. 2 Quote
farce poobah Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 ... and UMD drops to #5. [sarcasm on] "Well, I guess if UMD lost to UND, then UMD must not be as good as we thought." [/off] 1 Quote

xI Hammer Ix Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Awesome, it's great to see the woman's team starting to roll. Keep it up! Quote
sioux rube Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Nice to see the women finally getting over that hump and not only competing with the top teams in the nation but beating them. With this being the last year of the Fighting Sioux name how sweet would it be for both the mens and womens teams win it all. 1 Quote
Upper Deck Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I've never really payed too much attention to women's hockey but will start taking notice (and also attend games). Congrats on the weekend! Keep your foot on the gas and don't let up. Quote
ticklethetwine Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 After the sweep of the gophers this weekend the women should move to top 5 in the country. Just waiting for the polls to come out. Quote
darell1976 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Talent + winning = attendance, just want this program needs. I am thinking of attending a game. GO SIOUX!! Quote
UND Fan Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Second in the poll got more first place votes? That's goofy looking. Agree - that rarely happens! Quote
SiouxMD Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Second in the poll got more first place votes? That's goofy looking. Did you happen to notice that Cornell hasn't even played a game yet this season? Now that's goofy... siouxforce19 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Half of the ECAC hasn't played a game yet. They usually start after everyone else. Yup, and saying that makes it hard for me to justify a number 1 national ranking to Cornell. I'm sure they have a good team ... but they have yet to prove it to anyone. Just a little pet peeve of mine. Quote

I don't think that polls in the first half of the season have any meaning at all. But if a team is ranked near the top of the polls at the beginning of the season I don't think you can start knocking them down the polls just because they haven't played yet. Should a team lose standing in a poll just because they have a bye week in the middle of the season? The ECAC teams have started with a couple of bye weeks. Quote

It's moving up where my issue is. I agree polls aren't anything but a thing to look at as a comparison tool, but I just don't agree a team should move up based on zero games played when other teams have played. I'm pretty set on this opinion, so we might as well end this conversation now. Quote
ticklethetwine Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Congratulations to our Women's Team for getting home ice during the WCHA playoffs. This is a first for the womens team and a great accomplishment as this program is only headed in one direction. UP baby! Great work ladies and of course great job by the coaches. Quote

Pony1976 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 A place in WCHA The Final Face Off for the Sioux...a history making moment. I sincerely hope the Sioux can push the Badgers to the limit in their semi, at the very least. I'll be there and I'd love to see it. Quote
