Something that no one is mentioning is the recruiting factor. If I am not mistaken, every team in the NCHC has at least a couple of kids from the Twin Cities area. Having the game in St. Paul will only give MORE exposure to the league in the heart of college recruiting territory. I am sure this is in the thought process of those in power. Since McClod is no longer involved, anyway.

It was a magical season and the boys had all the luck fall their way. The Fighting Sioux are due for another season like that. But if it doesn't happen this year, I know the tribulations encountered this year will leave them better set for next year.

I guess I'm in it for the long haul. I counted 12 forwards that Hak has had to replace from last year, including graduates, early signings, clearinghouse problems, defections, and injuries. This means we are more than reloading. The half full glass is that we are going to get some badly need experience this year. That is a good thing. The half empty glass is that we will be taking some lumps as we get that experience. I look forward to a growing year, and hope this team can steal enough close games to position themselves for the NCAAs and make some noise in March. But you never know. That 1996-1997 team was a year or two out from winning it all. But they surprised a lot of teams in March AND April.

It is scheduled on both 17-2 and 22 DirecTV

Bemidji State games have been on channel 17 on DirecTV in the Twin Cities. It was actually a pretty good picture last time I watched them.

We call it Hate Week at the office.

Yup, Squirt and I will be there. First chance to wear my Fighting Sioux Jersey. Is my Fighting Sioux hard hat over the top? Anyone else?

I am in Grand forks this weekend, (what are the odds I get up here on a weekend without Sioux hockey at the REA?) without my Directv and am presuming that most of the sports bars will have Directv and Tonights game. Is there anyone in GF who can confirm that? In the Cities we have Joe Sensor's to watch the game. Where should I check here in GF? Thanks! Squirtcoach.

Hey, if the Athletic Department can come up with a logo and nickname more original, more representative of the state of North Dakota, more an embodiment of our sports teams, and more respectful of our native people's heritage than what we have had for the last 10 years, I will be the first in line to buy merchanidse. Until then, I will wear my Fighting Sioux gear until it falls off my back. I am more than willing to give them the opportunity to use their imagination in that task. I await the results.

Yeah this is a pretty big story. Such big news that it would have it's own headline here at SS or at USCHO. One problem, I cannot find anything a link, an article, anything anywhere but in the forums that he has signed. Is there a link? Thanks!

I cannot see UAF and UAA in the same conference. For a balanced schedule, that would require each of these left behind WCHA teams to travel twice a year to Alaska for hockey. And possibly travel again for a first round conference playoff. It is expensive to travel up there.

DAR, read it closer, I think he is a gopher fan. And much to the Gopher's dismay, Kristo will be back to score 30 goals...I hope.

All hockey players are guilty, they will pay in the next life. No snow in the Midwest. Rain forecasted for Thursday.

Don't worry, Karma is accounted in the next life.

So what's the real reason for all the Sioux bashing

A Drunk Hockey Guy from Duluth making an ass of himself? Why does that sound so familiar... -
As a former squirt coach, I can tell you that you would be doing a disservice to plenty of squirts with only these cliches. GO SIOUX!

I presumed he was talking about Goldie and his hostile and abusive behavior.

Actually the Badgers and Gophers can only play 34 games if they don't add an Alaska team. And they need 20 home games for $ reasons. With 10 games OTR for Big Ten play, that leaves them only 4 road games each year (two series). So who will they reciprocate with? And which WCHA teams will be happy to come to the John without a reciprocating agreement?
-
But in all serious, without reciprocating with teams, they will have much smaller pool of teams to draw from. ACHA, a few EZAC teams. Maybe some bottom feeders from what is left of the CCHA. And Alabama Huntsville. Maybe a home and home with Mankato if Mankato plays their home game at the X.
-
This would mean it is on 10:30 in Phoenix or Tucson.
-
It will be interesting to see how the Gophers and Badgers fill their schedule. Will they have an interlocking schedule with a conference like the 6 team WCHA and the Super 7 did back in the 80's? Will they fill it with weak teams they can pay to come like the Big Ten does in Hoops and football? Will the Gophers host a 5 team 'Minnesota" tourney over the holidays? Will they travel out to the East coast?
-
Watch an NHL game when icing is called, they don't even try to get off. Does anyone know, is it a delay of game in the NHL if you try, or does an official go right to the bench to enforce it, or are they just professional about it? The first two should be easy to incorporate into college hockey, the third, would be problematic with certain coaches and teams.

If you can find a sports bar with DirecTV, it will be on Channel 668 in Hi Def. Good luck.
