AHL Exhibition at the Ralph, October 2Wildfan replied to NoiseInsideMyHead's topic in Non-collegiate sports I think they expected more fans to want to go to these if they had 2 games within an hour of each other. Smarter move may have been Grand Forks, and Sioux Falls. That way there was more reason to attend Fridays game as people wouldn't be able to drive an hour on saturday to see them. Instead Friday night will be High School football for many fans. That and even the social media posts haven't gotten very far in promoting. I follow both rinks, as well as IA and MN wild pages and don't even see anything on my news feed except from Scheels Arena sponsored post. The Radio also didn't cover it much from what I hear, the one I spoke to said its hard to promote games if there isn't anything to give away. Giveaways make promotions fun and more than just a paid Ad is what I was told.

AHL Exhibition at the Ralph, October 2Wildfan replied to NoiseInsideMyHead's topic in Non-collegiate sports Yes, Andrew Macwilliam was just sent down to Manitoba from the Jets, so he will be playing most likely. There is a good chance he will play against Mike Reilly for Iowa, unless Reilly really impresses and gets the start in Minnesota.

I have been out of town for every home game so far this year, I know I will make a few coming up. If there intro video is that bad this year that is a big step back, they had a good video last year and I think I remember lights being off. Gameday experience is one thing that brings fans to the game especially if they are not students. There needs to be more going on besides ads during the TV timeouts etc than there was last year. GW Gear was the UND apparel seller last year in the Alerus, I do know their sign is still up on the Columbia ave mini mall near Hugos, but there website hasn't had anything new in awhile so I do not know if they are still in business.

AHL Exhibition at the Ralph, October 2Wildfan replied to NoiseInsideMyHead's topic in Non-collegiate sports http://www.theralph.com/events/detail/ahl-preseason-game Sorry been trying to log in all afternoon, i always browse but never post as I had forgotten my password and didn't use the Forgot password link till now. I bought my tickets for row 2 along Wild double attack blueline at student rate. There has been very little promotion for this and there is no reason this game shouldn't atleast have the lower bowl full. Glass seats are only $30 for students and I believe everyone.

Actually I think the Sioux Falls Pheasants are now the Sioux Falls Canaries again.

	Still better than NDSU's...

Eh, I know of people that don't call themselves NDSU fans, who attend NDSU games as it gives them a football game to see as that is pretty much what Fargo has, as well as other schools alumni, and people who go to MSU-Morehead. One of the major problems with UND is the Alerus Center, where I don't feel it is terrible, alot of people don't like it for football, I don't see that as a valid excuse. The problem that really arises is the fact that it is off-campus, and majority of the students in dorms do not have cars, so they would have to take a shuttle to the game, and even though I don't live on campus, I never was aware of the schedule or pickup locations of the shuttle. The attendance did start dropping after the hockey season started, and yes hockey did start 1st weekend of October, so nice try saying its a winter sport that wasn't started yet. If you don't believe hockey is the main sport here or that what people care about you have never been on campus here even for a moment. Most houses on campus have hockey flags, window decals, etc. Students will stand outside before 8am for a 7:37 game in freezing temperatures. There is a massive waiting list(last I heard) for season tickets. I believe each game had 800 non-season single tickets released per policy(besides holiday games, where students tickets are sold to general public), and they are ussually sold out quickly. Almost of the students talk about hockey, and there are alot of students that came from schools in the Cities where hockey was their main sports, and football wasn't huge there. Even the people who I talked to that were here before 2001 said the reason they went to the football games mainly was something to do before the hockey game right next door that night.

In any of the sports I played growing up, a road game was playing against a team in their home environment. Many of the championship games, and a select few games during the year were played on a Neutral site, being that where neither team is used to that environment, not giving one team a advantage or not.
-
Yet their game with a Coastal Carolina was close, who I heard from NDSU fans saying before the game that they shouldn't even been a top 10 team if not lower.
-
Some NDSU guy on the KVLY coverage of the NDSU halftime said that they are certainly looking forward to and excited for the NDSU vs Sioux game. Yes he actually said Sioux.
-
The TV commentator should be our spokesman for the Nickname, he isn't afraid to be sued for saying Fighting Sioux
-
Weren't you one in the other thread saying you don't care about the UND games, and this and that, yet you kept commenting on it. So you just claimed you cared.

I saw a bunch of people in Fargo after the game buying Panthers apparel.

I do believe these "safe treat" locations are a big part of it. These locations are supposed to be verified safe, and many keeps them out of the cold weather while also having plenty of candy given in one location. I believe even the Canad had a trick or treat event. The media has also made it worse, making it seem like there is a ton of danger going out, and that candy has been laced, or opened.

I heard Standing Rock majority, but the chairman has the final say and has yet to approve or deny, he just been mute. Once the approval is given from him their will be major news if NCAA doesn't follow their agreement which was the 2 tribes.
-
The way his post came off was very childish, especially with that lol at the end. For not being a rivalry they sure do troll harder then Gopher diehards.
-
When they play each other those fans won't be chearing for both. I'm sure most of them will pull out the UND green.
-
Quite a few, even in the student section. I have yet to see any Gopher apparel at a UND hockey game this year. When NDSU falls off their high horse you will see alot of people that are immediately not as big of fan of NDSU. Example was Boston College in hockey, when they were dominant a few years ago, you rarely heard of Boston U fans besides at the Beanpot game, until the last 2 years when BC was no longer the top overall team
-
By that argument there is no rivalries in the nation. Because it seems like every town you are in the majority of people will go to the local game. Also when they(USD/SDSU) play each other, their true colors normally come out. The family that went to USD wearing SDSU stuff to every other game will take out the Red for that game.
-
It usually always turns out this way. No matter where. USD and SDSU alumni are always going to the other depending on where they are. Seems like alot of the USD game day crowd is from Yankton, Sioux City, Mitchell, Some Sioux Falls(more to SDSU as it is closer). While SDSU is more Brookings, Huron, Watertown, Sioux Falls. Most are FOOTBALL fans, many just like to see a game at the cheapest possible
-
So just because someone goes to a game make them that team's fan? Hmm, so that section in Montana apparel at the Mont vs UND game were UND fans? That guy wearing the Marlins jersey at the Giants vs Royals game was a Royals fan? The girl I personally saw wearing a Avalanche jersey to the Wild vs Kings game was a Wild fan? It is ussually about getting the experience and what game is feasible to go to. Right now nothing is to draw the UND allums to Grand Forks on Saturdays to watch football. If the team is doing well they will pay to travel up, if not they will just go watch whoever is local. I have been to games just because they were in the same town, while on vacation and while living there, even though I don't like either team.
-
well its fun for you to come here and make alot of arguments mostly in excuses. if there is no point + Noone at NDSU cares+ Not Fun + No Rivalry, then why are you here?
-
It's not a sellout unless the students buy all their tickets, they have 400 un-bought tickets for this weekend. The student section will be sold out for this game.
-
Was the IW game sold out same day tickets became available?? I bet this game will be.
-
No you are right it is a HUGE GAME for NDSU. If they have nothing to gain against a school 70 miles away then it means even more to them. If they are really on top of the mountain then no home games mean nothingn to them. If it isn't a big game to NDSU then we sure will see alot more UND fans at the game, even though most of the comments I saw on the media reports from NDSU fans and from hearing from NDSU students are that they are going to try their hardest to get tickets.
