Any school east of the Mississippi is detestable for a UND partner, whether in the Summit or MVFC. Still don’t think UND will ever be in the MVFC. One doesn’t have to agree with everything in an article to post it.

Several week old article on the MVFC: https://www.dailyherald.com/sports/20180926/meet-the-midwest-league-that-actually-dominates-in-college-football

http://www.seawanhakapress.com/2018/10/16/liu-blindsided-by-merging-athletic-departments/ The complicated job of combining athletics at two branch campuses, one DI and one DII, an hour apart under one DI program. Newly elevated FCS, men’s lacrosse and probably a new men’s hockey program upcoming. By combining them, the net costs might go down, even with the program upgrades.

Mont St fired, demoted and promoted offensive coaches today. UND would make mid season changes too according to posters here. https://mtstandard.com/sports/college/big-sky-conference/montana-state-university/matt-miller-named-new-montana-state-offensive-coordinator-in-midseason/article_c241064b-e2f2-522a-b9f0-a8cb10143743.html

Should have put 60 pts on the board against Sac St without turnovers. Mont only beat Sac St by 7, 41-34, so UND’s margin over SAC was no fluke but consistent. Getting more confident that this team can handle MVFC and CAA teams too in the playoffs. Montana actually beat UNI and held WIU close. The OL seems to be rolling and JJ and Oliveira can put up yardage. Jaxson Turner seemed to fill in admirably for Tanner Palmborg.

So App St has cracked the Top25 of FBS just a few years after moving up.

UND has scored an incredible 40 goals against only 7 against. But they can still miss the Summit League playoffs if their last two games against SDSU and USD are lost and if ORU wins one game. http://www.thesummitleague.org/sports/wsoc/2018-19/standings Great scoring against lower teams like PUFW and WIU and SWAC schools may not be enough.

Volleyball match at DU was postponed because a Saturday flight from Tulsa was cancelled.

The game next week will be the most important non-playoff game of the DI era. Weber St came back on Mont St to win and they also shut down EWU’s offense.

The 3rd Qtr monkey is off their back now. Three 3rd Qtr TD’s. The OL seems to be really clicking.

The Islander’s new practice facility looks to have some significant seating in one of the arenas. It is located in western Nassau county, a relatively short distance to the new Islanders arena being constructed at Belmont Park in Queens near the Nassau county line. The recent DI move for the Post campus of LIU could have a DI men’s team there. LIU-Brooklyn earlier announced a women’s team apparently to play in the Bronx. The LIU campuses will be united under one LIU flag. LIU would be a perfect fit for the Atlantic Hockey Conference. http://www.andrusarchitecture.com/northwell-health-ice-center.html

Six. After DU, they have SDSU, PUFW and WIU which should all be wins. Bruggeman played but Neukirk did not.

NORTH DAKOTA VS purple cows GAMEDAY THREAD (FRIDAY)
SiouxVolley replied to iluvdebbies's topic in Men's Hockey
The team just likes March NCAA playoff drama. I.e Fans sweating whether they get in. -
The defense is due for a shutout even after 3 qtrs.

Idaho State has been flying the fb team commercially. Did that mean they flew out of Salt Lake and bused from Minneapolis for the UND game? Pocatello has limited flights with puddle jumpers. The closest airport with commercial jet service is Idaho Falls, sixty miles away. Salt Lake is a couple of hours. An upcoming game in Portland, the team would have to divide between flights to and from Boise and Salt Lake taking individuals buses from and to Pocatello. The interim AD has now switched to a charter plane. https://www.idahostatejournal.com/news/local/satterlee-thiros-in-running-for-isu-s-permanent-athletic-director/article_12043eda-1f8a-505a-913c-1c8efd13b0c7.html

UND wins the first set at ORU but ORU wins the next three. Wih that loss, UND is at .500 and probably will fall again at unbeaten Summit League Denver on Sunday.

Nobody is a true “friend” of YSU except OSU backers because of Tressel, because University Presidents don’t want to associate with them as their low admission scores are probably worse than Vo Techs. YSU has been knocking on the door of the MAC for years, but six Ohio schools are already in that. YSU used to be a Summit member and they got an invite which they took immediately.

Never ever said Kennedy was solely responsible for moving to the Summit. The wheels have been turning ever since Roeback gave an exit interview when he said UND will be in a WAC-like league (FBS) by 2020. Kennedy greased the wheels for that to happen (which I didn’t understand at the time) and dropped WIH and M&W swimming. Schafer actually did more in his short term by dropping baseball (which makes the Summit in the short term untenable) and men’s golf with conditions. Schafer also IMHO called out NDSU’s shenanigans about blocking our membership in the MVFC, which now doesn’t seem to have any complaints about going above 10 members. Fargo media insisted that the MVFC was dead set against going beyond 10 for years because that is story the NDSU brass spread. IMHO, the Montanas wanted more research and schools with endowments like them to go FBS eventually. They rescued us from having to almost destroy football by having to placing it in the Southland, which was NDSU’s Chapman and Taylor’s plan all along.
-
So Kennedy has got UND into a world of hurt, unless the total plan hasn’t been laid out yet. At least one school and preferably more with fb have to be added. Been saying that there is a plan but that is getting serious pushback by the trolls and the usual haters. Kennedy knows the lay of the land more than anyone here, even though the usual posters say the Summit would never go further west. Douple may be reactionary but Kennedy is paid to be a strategic visionary. Augustana joining just pushes forward the day of an Summit inferno, as IPFW and others would rebel sooner against a minor DII school, resulting loss of an autobid, because no Summit school wants them as they degrade the conference academically, don’t create national awareness, don’t have a media that isn’t already in the Summit, and currently doesn’t have academics or research or professional schools that matter. An Augie addition further divides the Summit instead of helping glue it together better. Conferences only add schools that an existing 70% or higher think will strengthen it (or one important school threatens to leave if they don’t get their way). The MVFC doesn’t pay out anything. Dakota schools now depend on the Summit for their DI existence. The MVFC will be sacrificed to keep the Summit autobid but this time with football.

As long as you, Goon, and the trolls continue to throw personal insults my way, they will be returned. You as a group always begin the insults.
-
That’s the kindest thing you’ve ever written. The Torah is a subset of the Bible for you illiterates.
-
Since I was mentioned, Goon as a writer is one of the boringest bloggers ever that won’t ever inject his personal thoughts into a sports commentary unless it’s about keeping things the same, like losing and tieing Bemidji St. That’s needed for reporting news, not giving sports commentary. It’s like getting black and white only as a sports color commentator.

A local athlete often brings in more fans from their local area. Even UND hockey has been bringing in more kids from ND and that helps grow the fanbase and having local kids relate better to the team.
-
I still maintain that the Montanas, Idaho and Weber St will be coming over. Was just too early on that projection. IPFW leaving in one or two years with Augustana replacing them would be a disaster. If all there is to join the Summit is Augustana, that would almost be as bad. Augustana needed to join at the same time or before UND. Don’t think at all that’s what Kennedy anticipated.

The MVFC provides: A big TV contract? No Great academics which Presidents love? No Overflowing crowds? No Just vainful pride on the part of the XDSU’s and USD with no consideration of all athletics from the MVC. The definition of a plantation slave. Protecting the Summit bid is the overarching consideration. To hell with the MVFC if it means the Summit loses its autobid.
