UCDavis scored 46 2nd half points to route the Griz 49-21. Idaho St 24 Mont St 7 in the 4th

Tarleton State was said to be slated for the WAC last year but nothing happened. https://tarleton.edu/division1/documents/collegiate-consulting-division-i-fcs-benchmarking-study-march-2018.pdf Metro State has a very small athletic budget of under $6 million. They have built up their facilites nicely though in downtown Denver. The WAC is just a fake screen. Tarleton St will be a Southland conference school replacing Sam Houston and Lamar when they go to the WAC. Metro St will be No Colo’s travel partner when the new low budget Big Sky loses schools to the Summit and WAC. Standby for the coming hissy fits.

The offense didn’t do well after they drove to the 10 and settled for a FG. The offense needed to be out there more to wear down the Weber defense. Weber defense got to rest most the the 2Nd half.

Griz ahead of UCDavis in the 3rd, 21-3. Sam Houston St won.

Defensive battle with UND scoring TD’s. UND 20-9.

UND lost to SDSU 2-1 in 2OT. Might have to win at USD to make the Summit tournament.

In their final year of FBS transitioning with a stadium that has almost doubled in size, Coastal Carolina is only averaging 11,000. The U or Foundation needs to buy tickets at reduced prices to be certified FBS by the NCAA. In the meantime, Coastal is talking a bowl game with their 4-3 record. https://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/sports/college/sun-belt/coastal-carolina-university/article220208295.html

So Metro State of Denver might go DI according to their own press release. DU opposed Metro St changing its name to Denver St, so the Summit probably isn’t in the running. https://roadrunnersathletics.com/news/2018/10/25/general-msu-denver-athletics-to-conduct-ncaa-division-i-feasibility-study.aspx Metro State has upgraded their outdoors fields, has over 24 k students, but is mostly commuter and doesn’t have an endowment to speak off. But it’s almost a perfect fit for Summit sports.

Jones seems to be assembling some fabulous pieces for a rebuilt team.

Looks like the Big East needs to lure back UConn to keep their MSG tournament. The Big Ten and ACC want MSG permanently as their site. Fox1 might pony up to keep MSG and get UConn from the American. Both the American and Big East would need to add another team. https://mobile.twitter.com/NYPost_Brazille/status/1055823951983771649

App St lost in OT to Penn State in a game they could and should have won. But they won’t be rated anymore after losing to fellow moveup Ga Southern, 34-14. Ga Southern has only lost one game, and that was to Clemson. Former FCS teams are making a mockery of the Sun Belt and G5 teams.

UT-Arlington is studying adding FBS and women’s soccer and beach vollleyball. They dropped fb in the 80’s but are in the Sun Belt now. https://sportsday.dallasnews.com/college-sports/collegesports/2018/10/25/exclusive-ut-arlington-considering-reviving-football-program-30-years-after-disbanded

So good to hear the Rebraca can do so much under the basket. Needed more muscle under there besides Avants. Maybe Jones wants to surprise certain teams with his freshman talent so no scrimmages. Looking forward to seeing Bijiek and Mooney too.

That would be wonderful! Prayers are answered all the time but one key is to get enough people on the prayer chain.

There are Big Ten posters who insist there is no six team B1G rule and six teams doesn’t require a Big Ten championship. In the MIH case, Penn St wanted it, Wisconsin with Alvarez wanted it (hated the playing non B1G WCHA schools as were not worthy of them), and the CCHA B1G schools wanted it, and Delaney and the Big Ten Conference Network wanted it for programming. Minnesota had to accept or be kicked out and lose vast sums annually, or at least that is what they spun to the press. Penn St had a independent team for a couple of years so six teams does not automatically mandate a B1G league. If Illinois, Iowa and Rutgers start M&W hockey, a B1G WIH League is not Inevitable. The Michigan’s have shown no movement to WIH. The B1G Network does not want any part of WIH so the schools can do their own thing. Several Big Ten posters insist that is true as they have had conference bylaws in their possession. Maybe those who don’t agree can take their beefs to them. Ohio St WIH might just like playing Penn St and Syracuse instead of Minnie and Sconnie. Clarkson has won mostly on Toronto talent and Ohio St is closer to Ontario than Minnie and western Canada.

Said several teams would need to lose. At least five seeded teams to be precise. The previous bidding price would still hold.
-
But the previous bids are then revealed after the fact aren’t they? Thought the AD’s knew what a winning bid cost based on bid history. If a several seeded 1-8 team lose, remaining schools can slide up to host again if the bid is the highest.
-
If Ohio St leaves to the CHA, the WCHA can best use two more. Another caveat could be if Illinois and Oakland start teams. If NMU needs more students enrolled, lax would be a better option as there are more players and not full scholarships. NMU has a dome too. Rifle, alpine and WIH would compete at the DI level though.

UNI defends it’s mbb to the hilt (paying big bucks to Jacobson) but can’t afford much else. FB is well below on priorities. They dropped baseball and still can’t spend much. UND dropped baseball, WiH, and M&W Swimming and now seems to find money for capital improvements. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/sports/college/northern-iowa/uni-panthers/2017/07/06/uni-athletic-department-suffers-deficit-2016-fiscal-year/455659001/ UNI has to compete for fb fans in Iowa against the Hawkeyes and Cyclones. UNI fb just simply cant compete whereas sometimes mbb can. UND needs to compete against NDSU for fb fan attention, so a playoff win at home is much more strategic for it. Confident that UND will find a way to win a home bid, even if boosters have to help sweeten the pot.
-
It might make sense to reschedule near the conference tournament so they can cut down on travel.
-
There are not any G5 schools that would come to the Twin Cities for NDSU. No Ill plays games in Chicago time to time but they wouldn’t move a home game elsewhere unless it was major bucks (>$1 mill). A school like Boise St often plays neutral site games with big paydays, but mainly against P5’s. Unless Burgum wants to donate his fortune to a new stadium (He seems more interested in building downtown Fargo) don’t think their is another donor capable. Sanford would build for Augustana before he helped NDSU again. Fargo paying for the flood diversion will take years.
-
Don’t think NDSU would get a game at TCF even if they went FBS. Their fan base will travel to see odious teams like non-scholarship Butler because they have nothing else. Think UND could if we went FBS. Rather see it at US Bank Stadium. The Allianz Stadium might work for UNI or USD, but would like to get a bigger traveling fan base first. At least Allianz could be used in August or September.

North Dakota has been an economic powerhouse in the last decade. But now, with the economy better elsewhere, it has a hard time attracting workers to fill its many jobs. https://www.axios.com/america-surprise-economic-powerhouse-north-dakota--906a3709-1b46-431a-a592-45fc0c66b9df.html

UND forms partnership with Sun Country airlines
SiouxVolley replied to nodak651's topic in Community
While there is much faster advancement to wide body jets, Delta and United seem to have more potential for training and pay. Sun Country is mainly a charter carrier right? Know they have many scheduled flights from MSP, but thought that was only a small part of the business. -
Would any one be up for a game at the new Allianz field in St Paul for the MLS team ? Know NDSU has a Target field date with Butler next year. A US Bank game would be much better, as well as a game against Minny at the TCF Bank Stadium would seem much more appealing. But with a new smaller venue soon to be open, possibilities abound. https://www.mnufc.com/stadium/
