Keeping Kostich and Rudolph show that he is clueless about what it takes to be a top FCS team. He values loyalty too much over competence. UND athletics, including hockey is run like a family business, not by executive decisions. At good corporations, poor decision makers are normally shown the door. At bad ones, they are given one more chance because of the buddy system.

Illinois St, UNI and W Illinois are all 5-4. They will all get in even if they each go 1-1. The Big Sky gets little respect and UND even less. Since Montana beat Western Illinois, that goes a lot further than UND pulverizing Montana. Montana has just as good a chance as UND.

Perhaps the Horizon League can start men’s lacrosse now. Utah isn’t getting into the ACC or Big East and Cleveland St and Detroit Mercy are homeless. Chaves can probably insist on assistant coaches getting the axe. If the head coach doesn’t like that, he might be gone too. An AD might open the HC position with the stipulation that a certain assistant be retained.

Fresno actually has two rinks they can use. The Selland Arena downtown (7000) or the Save Mart Arena on campus (13,000?) Fresno St wants and needs a conference where it on par with PAC 12 schools. San Jose St doesn’t have money or boosters and San Diego St badly needs football facilities. Fresno St might be the best hockey option in California outside the PAC schools.

The loss was totally inexcusable bone headed decisions on all the coaches. Oliveira and Santiago and the other seniors careers are done now. Any players at UND deserves better coaching decisions or they shouldn’t come here.

That a great find! If that arena doesn’t sell, will it be demolished? Think of the curtains that would be needed. Huge facility almost like the now departed SilverDome. Would Oakland play in the WCHA? Or later add Oakland and Bowling Green to the NCHC? Detroit would be by far the biggest metro.

The academic side of greed is not emphasized enough. The SEC only added AAU schools in the last round: Mizzou and T A&M. The PAC10 wanted AAUs Texas and Colorado but had to settle for a very high research school Utah. The B1G got a trifecta of AAU’s: Nebraska (at the time), Rutgers, and Maryland. Meanwhile, the Summit back in 1997 lost almost its entire assortment of midwest schools to the Horizon and had to backfill with the most bizarre collection of schools ever: SUU, UMKC, Central Conn St, Troy, Buffalo, Centenary, NE Illinois (which has abandoned athletics) and Chicago St, most of them moveups with much more lenient transition rules at the time just to survive and live on. Western Illinois was refused graduation with their fellow compatriots so they have been stuck forever a DII gloried moveup League. Eastern Illinois, which was also rebuffed, chose to downsize its competition in the OVC. UMKC was just starting on their time of perpetual DI futility. DII RMAC didn’t want SUU at the time so they were forced to move to DI. Pretty telling on the Weber St board that they cringe at the prospect of being in a league with SUU, Dixie St and UVU. Weber St has more or less graduated from a commuter school moniker and don’t have a former JC moniker like Dixie St, Boise, and UVU. It’s an Ogden version of Fresno St. Montana U and Idaho U presidents look around at their Big Sky neighbors and they have barf bags ready. Better to combine the best of the Summit with the best of the Big Sky and one will have a long lived conference where everybody is happy except Southpaw, Goon, cberkas, jdubs, and the bison trolls as UND shouldn’t be in it. But since Southpaw is now Siouxsports realignment director, better be nice to him.

The game at DU is now listed as cancellled on the Summit site. UND now has 5th place alone and getting to 4th is possible.

Is Idaho down substantially from their Sun Belt and FBS days ( less than two years after a bowl win over Colo St) or is FCS and the Big Sky just better than Idaho presumed? You have a big game at Florida coming up, so that will be your bowl game. Practically all your fans on the message board we’re going to boycott FCS, but the attendance doesn’t reflect that.
