Very well written and worth the money.... : "Public employees are not any gambling on their visits to Sin City — at least not with taxpayer money."
  2. My group might have to back out due to pregnancies so I looked at listing them on stub hub, because ticket master isn't allowing resale for this event. From what I understand, ticket master does not release the tickets until right before the game, so that is why the availability is so close to game day, and it is also why they are mobile only. When someone buys tickets for these games on stub hub, the seller will have to transfer the tickets from ticket master once they are released. I do not believe there is any way around this no matter what website you look to buy the tickets from.
  3. If memorial is bulldozed and UND football is in the Hyslop, they will need phase two to be built before the Hyslop/Stem renovation is started, correct? I feel like now they will be in a much better position to get public funding for this, if that is correct. Now Phase II money is really money for academics... or at least it could be argued.
  4. True, but he was also going to get his shirt pulled as a true freshman, so he had the talent to justify his ranking. If you look at our 24/7 recruiting page, most of the guys who have star rankings turned out to be impact players. That said, 24/7 still sucks, because there are multiple recruits that commit to UND, and they don't bother to update the recruits account to show that they commited to UND. Examples: https://247sports.com/Player/Quincy-Vaughn-46084437/ and https://247sports.com/player/samuel-salih-fort-46056222/ nad https://247sports.com/player/reid-neal-46048625/ and https://247sports.com/player/jack-wright-46080629/ and https://247sports.com/player/bennett-weber-46079859/ I think Brian's work is valuable, be even he will admit that looking at recruits other options isn't the best way to evaluate players, but it's really all we have because there isn't a lot of info out there on most FCS guys.
  5. I think I remember seeing on twitter that he was waiting forever to get is SAT results back. He got them only recently, I think, perhaps that is why Minnesota didn't work out for him?
  6. Can't build this if Memorial is still there. Just saying.... Seriously though, it was probably condemned.
  7. Prob best to let this one play out...
  8. If i had a vote, I'd probably contradict myself and approve this, but it depends on the plan. I agree with you. It's just unfortunate that this is the situation that we are in.. There are some pretty good articles/documentaries that document the tax incentive battles between cities, specifically the Missouri side vs. Kansas side of Kansas City. What do homeowners and smaller businesses get for improving their properties? Higher taxes!!!
  9. Would rather see the small companies that rent out space in the mall get tax incentives. The tax breaks that these bigger projects always seem to get are ridiculous. If they want downtown to grow, they should tell the mall to kick sand. Let the free market work itself out without government interference tipping the scales, especially if they want to see growth downtown.
  10. Guessing this guy was being sardonic with this tweet, but on the other hand I wonder if he knows anything. I googled his name and he is apparently the director of sales and marketing for the NAHL and an Indiana grad.
  11. https://www.grandforksherald.com/news/2204584-grand-forks-scrap-yard-embraces-new-scrap-metal-law It's mentioned in this article from Dec 2013 that pieces were at the scrap yard of Residual Materials Inc, located in Grand Forks. Someone here probably knows the owner... "As Gibbs drove around the RMI scrap yard on a recent frigid morning, he points out notable pieces sitting on top of the small metal hills. Beams that supported the former Ralph Engelstad Arena are among them, as well is a massive rebar pile from the recent Interstate 29 project. Meanwhile, a new electric shear cut metal into smaller pieces, and rail cars were loaded nearby. Business slows down this time of year, Gibbs said, as the cold weather sets in. RMI started in 1977 by Gibbs' grandpa, dad and uncle. They originally salvaged precious metals from old computer mainframes before expanding the business to include a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. RMI has also started salvaging metal from cars."
  12. I broke the news 15 days before their own presser and uscho! Mayby Indiana hockey is legit.
  13. Bochenski is gonna win.
  14. Think it possible that with the young QB's and boltmans success, that he could see many more snaps under center? Like 15% - 20% of snaps under center and they have him actually throw the ball? At some point, if he took too many snaps, it could turn into having two QB's and nobody would want that I suppose.
  15. How reliable is your source? That doesn't make any sense, because those are the players locker rooms. Without Phase II where would they go?
  16. No reason to think it isnt or wasn't true but who knows when the plan was worked on. Maybe they wanted plans but couldn't afford it or decided not to do it - like the gateway plan at EWU. Is it a new plan or did they just want to show off their old work? Found this old article - the beams were at a grand forks scrap yard in Dec of 2013: "As Gibbs drove around the RMI scrap yard on a recent frigid morning, he points out notable pieces sitting on top of the small metal hills. Beams that supported the former Ralph Engelstad Arena are among them, as well is a massive rebar pile from the recent Interstate 29 project." https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.prairiebusinessmagazine.com/business/3967995-gf-salvage-yard-embraces-new-scrap-metal-law%3famp
  17. Somebody paid JLG for the plan. Guessing it wasn't cheap. I agree the plan is probably dead though.
  18. uh, is this a thing???? INDIANA? "Indiana University’s plan to move its hockey program to Division 1 includes this proposal to develop a truly “green” arena. The buildings shell currently resides in North Dakota as the former Ralph Englestad Arena. The plan is to dismantle the facility and ship it by rail to Bloomington, Indiana where it will become the new home to Hoosier Hockey. The facility will go from 6,500 seats to 5,500 seats and receive a comprehensive renewal and re-birth." https://jlgice.com/projects/indiana-university-athletics-pavilion/ Did they save anything when they tore down the old ralph? Maybe this is old, but new on jlg's website. At least it shows Indiana must have had some interest in D1 hockey.

    The Herald

Or it's just a "local newspaper" filled with articles from the washington post.

    The Herald

That article mentioned that the papers were profitable, but not profitable enough to make it worthwhile for the owners to manage. Serious question: rather than just shutting the papers down, why don't the owners just sell the paper to the employees and make it employee owned? Is this because the employees wouldn't be able to pay as much as the owner would get for selling off all of the assets?
  21. Not exactly the same situation... UND football was in a tail spin. But either way, what has that gotten us? Mediocre results. Don't really see how that helps your argument.
  22. That wasn't exactly the point. Did you read the comment I responded to? Completely different context. And yeah, he'd be a great hire as a position coach. This is pretty much the same argument that could have been made for Paul Rudolph when he was hired.. "So when Dosch was named HC at NSU any guesses who else was a finalist that he beat out for the position? Hint...........he just lead a team to a 16-0 season."
  23. That supposed to make Dosch a better coach somehow? The guy has a losing overall head coaching record. Don't see how his mediocre, at best, experience really makes him look any better as a candidate. Rather take a young guy with more potential any day (see Freund) than a "safe" pick like this dude. You really want a guy who was just fired from a D2 school to be our coordinator?
  24. Has this been posted anywhere yet? New Sacred Heart arena plans: https://jlgice.com/projects/sacred-heart-university-ice-arena/?category=collegiate&ref=jlgarchitects Looks similar to CC's new rink.
  25. New fresh talented DC has a bad enough defense that the team goes 6-5?
