  1. I have a buddy who grew up in Fargo, went to UND, and only follows UND hockey and NDSU football (apparently because he grew up watching NDSU, and because he thinks UND football sucks, and he apparently isn't a band wagon fan ). Even HE was legit excited when I mentioned that Boschee might be the next coach, and this guy probably doesn't even know who Geno Crandall or Q Hooker are... I think that says something for the excitement that Boschee could generate around the program.
  2. Last I heard, but would anyone REALLY have the balls to do it now, in the current environment?! I doubt it. I think they were planning to use some of the Ray Dicks funds to endow the golf program. If things changed I don't know why they would do that, unless for PR purposes.
  3. The team has to raise funds for all of their expenses every year or else it will be, apparently.
  4. Probably because she plays an active role in the management of the Ralph and publicly stated that Kennedy was offensive and pretty much negotiating in bad faith, and then said that she would stop all donations until he was gone. Nobody would say a word if she wasn't constantly in the press. But now he's gone like she wanted...
  5. Is it still possible to add news stories/articles to the main page? I think users used to be able to do this, but not sure if it's currently possible. Would like to add Brad and Tom's new podcast.
  6. Will UND actually see a fundraising bump now that Kennedy is gone? With Kennedy gone, may KEM be willing to partially finance Phase II through the Ralph, similar to the Betty donation loan? Everyone knows that UND Hockey has by far the most support from fans. Would UND be better off fundraising for things like the 2m in RAE funds, used for the scoreboard, and allowing the money to flow to other programs? Currently it's the other way around, with other programs putting in so much effort for fundraising. For instance, golf has to fundraise for their annual budget, but if the RAE money flowed through them, and the hockey program identified a fundraising need for the same amount, I think UND would have a much better chance of reaching said goal, and overall donations could increase. Example: 2million from RAE that was used for the scoreboard goes to Phase 2, and the hockey program finds donations for a new scoreboard. Could also sell naming rights to scoreboard. How far along is UND in it's fundraising efforts for the business school? They have a 20m donation from an anonymous donar, and 20m from the state so far, correct? They need about 60m? Will the business school sell naming rights? "Cargill School of Business" perhaps?
  7. Did they ever announce how much money was raised?
  8. Have you seen any library renderings? Always loved the big study room there. Hopefully they add a coffee shop.
  9. I've thought this ever since the announcement. LOVE the other enhancements though.
  10. I think cheaping out and paying Jones such a low wage was the right move. He wasn't worth more, as demonstrated by his move to be an assistant at Illinois State. UND also didn't have to buy out his contract, and Jones may have stayed if he was paid more. With the new coach, hopefully things improve. ESPECIALLY for the assistants pool. Assistants can't be leaving every single year. Edit: I also kind of regret being so down on Jones, when he was put into a position where he had to coach with one hand tied behind his back. Low assistants salary pool, few home D1 non conf games, probably terrible travel accommodations, and tons of travel in general while in the Big Sky.
  11. Really? Even after her obnoxious statements about not donating as long as Kennedy is president? Now that she has her way, she better not have drug his name through the mud, made UND look bad, and discourage other donors, only to NOT donate when he is finally gone. I'd agree with you if she didn't go to the press multiple times to complain about him in public.
  12. No, but now she is going to open up her pocket book! Actually NVM. She said she wouldn't donate as long as he was president. Also, what she didn't say, but thought, was that she still won't donate even after he leaves.
  13. The hockey budget doesn't hinder the budget of other programs, because they make money. The REA budget is what kills the non hockey sports. Instead of using REA profits and investing in other programs/improving emberassing coaching salaries, an Iconic scoreboard is getting replaced. What would 2 million dollars do for the football and basketball teams? That is how much the REA's share of the new scoreboard cost, money that otherwise would flow back to UND. Between these two options, where would the athletic department see a greater return on investment? And just a reminder, the RAE operates as a non profit to benefit UND Athletics.
  14. Oliveira presser at winnipeg. Answer at 8:45 is interesting. Super excited for him. https://www.pscp.tv/Wpg_BlueBombers/1BRKjvabpvVKw?t=8m33s
  15. Guessing it's partly due to title 9 issues. It's more than just MBB that we would have to raise money for. But again, that's another guess. Email Chaves or Alex Heinert - they have a weekly podcast to discuss this type of stuff.
  16. No not KEM. But the people who run it as their day job. Most of the current issues that UND faces with the Ralph are because the AD doesn't have the power to make capital budgeting decisions, and the AD doesn't receive the profit that the REA generates. Both would change and the people over there every day can stick to day to day operations. They can still be part of the decision making processes, but not much really needs to change aside from accounting issues.
  17. Can the people currently managing it just continue to due so under new ownership? I wouldn't want them to leave if a firm is hired to run it.
  18. They should start an player-owned league and pay themselves the big bucks that they "deserve".
  19. Not posting this to bash anyone, but this is factual. Roc Thomas was sentenced to probation for MJ possession. Probably won't get kicked off the team because of this, but if he's a borderline player anyways, and if the coaches care about character at all, maybe this will make it "easier" for a rookie to land a spot on the practice squad at RB. https://www.twincities.com/2019/05/01/vikings-roc-thomas-sentenced-felony-marijuana/
  20. Agree. But we NEED a coach with a personality. Someone who can rally the fans and market the program like Bubba has. That will always help the fundraisers.
  21. Wouldn't blame him there.
  22. Thanks. Thought that was how many that were on board so far for some reason.
  23. All schools need to be on board with this, right? Can't see SJU voting to kick out their biggest rival. So long alumni fan interest and donors.... goodbye exposure from playing St. Thomas every year and huge games played at Target Field and Allianz. The only way UST leaves the MIAC is if St. Johns goes with, or UST just says screw it, and decides to move on regardless. They aren't getting booted. (Just my prediction, I may be wrong and I don't proclaim to know everything.)
