  1. Curious if the roster cap affects fcs schools.
  2. Yep they are a full NCAA D2 institution. They haven't had an athletic director for about a year now. The school is restructuring their athletic department after dropping FB due to budgeting issues. Despite the poor timing with the budget issues, I could potentially see them add hockey as part of the process, given that they are able to afford what they're currently doing without a much help from the University.
  3. I'd love to get a list of all the Club teams who have D1 games scheduled this year. So far we have Simon Fraser, Grand Canyon, and UNLV, correct? I don't recall if Arizona is playing ASU again.
  4. Coach said on a podcast a few months ago that he was anticipating a D1 home game this year. Hope that develops.
  5. With Jamestown officially moving to D2. Is there any chance that they look to add hockey? They seem to be funding their ACHA D1 program... anyone know if the players have to pitch in a couple grand like at other "club" programs? Is the playing surface at the Jamestown Civic Center too small to make a renovation for hockey feasible?
  6. I'll take the 13 CBSSN games the league got in 2024 vs 1 game on espnU and 1 on espn2 like in 2023.
  7. Also, factor in the House settlement, where the MVC will likely have more money held back by the NCAA than the Summit. And MVC tournament attendance has been trending down, while the Summit League is trending the other direction. Total attendance of both is now roughly the same I believe.
  8. I like what I'm reading...
  9. Midco has a schedule for live broadcasts and there is a good sort/filter feature. Shows hockey, fb, and other sports already. https://www.midcosports.com/schedule/
  10. Do you by any chance have a link to the actual ruling?
  11. I agree with you, too. I'm thinking more along the lines of out of conference games. Invest in the program by paying a major program or two to come to the REA every year. Takes money to make money, right? Problem is that this would take a relatively large investment and the payoff is uncertain at best. However, the REA can be leveraged and has the potential to elevate the program in ways the Betty can't, as it's the only building that has the potential to generate legit revenue from suites, concessions, and ad sales. It's kind of a clout/reputation thing as well - if people from outside the area associated the REA with UND basketball that would be hugely beneficial. Perception is everything. That said, the money could probably be better spent on additional practice space, or for something elsewhere, for now. I just realized this is off topic so I apologize.
  12. Agreed. There's a good argument for both the Betty and the REA, but let's be real, if the REA had a legit floor, the game would probably be played there. Disappointing to hear that the REA doesn't have a serviceable floor anymore, especially given that there are so many open weekends without W hockey. I thought this was why the REA had a reserve account for building repairs, maintenance, and enhancement. I'm not necessarily arguing for all games to be played at the REA either, and I think most games should probably be played at the Betty, but it would be nice if the REA could be leveraged a bit to elevate basketball. Gotta think it would be nice to be able to utilize the suites, bars, and concessions for the bigger games, and as mentioned, basketball at the REA could potentially make it possible to attract bigger games which otherwise wouldn't typically be feasible at the Betty. The last paragraph or two from this article are relevant, imo. Either way, I don't necessarily think there is a right or wrong answer, as long as the decisions are well thought out and made for the right reasons.
  13. I think this may have something to do with their connection to Comcast, which owns 49% of the company. Comcast hasn't come to an agreement with Bally either. I think it says a lot that Bally has had so much trouble with renewing carriage agreements with pretty much everyone they've worked with. Seems pretty apparent that they have been trying to price gouge everyone.
  14. St. Thomas arena construction looks like it may be delayed again for a while.
  15. I really really really wish Fubo or one of the streaming tv companies added Midco Sports. Whenever I cancel a streaming service I say it's because they don't have that channel. Not that it makes a difference, but it can't hurt.
  16. It's because the NCHC has exclusive rights to streaming. The Summit has exclusive streaming rights for basketball now (sold to Midco), and that's why Summit basketball is no longer on ESPN+. I think, like some others, that Midco bought the CCHA rights partially to help attract the NCHC at some point.
  17. You need Midco Sports Plus for Summit basketball and CCHA hockey, and you need NCHC.TV for UND Hockey. Summit Basketball isn't on ESPN+ and UND Hockey isn't on Midco Sports Plus.
  18. I think UND has the potential to surprise a lot of people next year. Even if the O-line isn't as good, I think the play calling will be better. If we actually run the ball when we are able to, instead of deciding to kill drives by passing on first down, we may see a more consistent offense, and that would help out the Defense as well. We had the talent to beat both Sac and USD. We were up 10 on USD at half, and we stopped USD's first drive in the 3rd Quarter with an interception in our own end zone. What did we do with that, in our first drive of the 3rd quarter? See below. USD then marches down the field again, and this time, they convert for a TD. Now up 10-7 UND gets the ball with 6:50 remaining in the third and they do this: Why pass it on first down from the USD 24 while winning, late in the 3rd, on the road? This drive is the epitome of UND's season last year. Next drive, UND holds USD to a 3 and out. What does UND do? No, even though UND is moving the ball on the ground well, they don't exploit it. Instead, they screw up the next drive with an incomplete pass to Quincy Vaugn on 2nd down, after a 6 yard rush on 1st down. In the 4th Quarter, we handed the ball off to our running backs a total of 1 time. This is the yardage we gained for every running play by a RB in the 2nd half: 3, 4, 19, 4, 6, 3, 7. The shortest rush was 3 yards. With that consistency, we still managed to give up a 10 point first half lead. Scored nothing in the 2nd half. Maybe I'm wrong - I never played FB and I don't truly know the game like others here, but I've gotta think that a change at OC may more than make up for the guys we lost on the O-Line this year. Thoughts?
  19. Looks like CBSSN will not be involved in the next Big East contract. Hopefully that helps the Summit and maybe the NCHC get some more games on TV.
  20. Have there been any updates on this? https://www.startribune.com/xcel-university-north-dakota-hydrogen-heartland-hub-federal-tax-credit-environmental/600358098/ Xcel, UND say Midwest hydrogen 'hub' at risk from tax credit rules A $1 billion federal grant could be in limbo in part because of limits on when companies can receive a hydrogen production tax credit for using nuclear and wind to create hydrogen. 21. Interesting. Thanks. This is from last August, about the Harrington hall renovations/plan. Some interesting info. https://blogs.und.edu/und-today/2023/08/a-new-direction-for-harrington-hall/
  22. This seems like a big deal... New research centers at UND. To be discussed at ndus meeting tomorrow.
  23. Looks like Colorado State 11/4. https://d1docket.blogspot.com/p/2024-25-dockets-midwest-leagues.html
  24. 247 doesn't show Seth Staloch's USD offer or Zach Schemper's UST or Drake offers. If we had better recruits I'm confident there would be more examples. I didn't check them all, but that's at least 3 guys out of the 8 commits that 247 has listed, with missing offers. Not a great percentage for 247.
  25. Hit and miss. They often don't update pages for FCS commits. UND has had multiple recruits with 247 profiles over the years that have committed without the 247 ever updating their profiles to reflect that. If they can't even do that, It's hard for me to credit them as a reliable source for other offers. That doesn't necessarily mean their info is always wrong or anything, but it's often incomplete. For example: https://247sports.com/Player/clayton-bishop-46100621/ https://247sports.com/Player/jerry-kaminski-46118650/
