Sounds great, considering a Top Golf-like facility would also be included.

THIS It would be a draw for people who drive up for games from the Twin Cities as well.

If you could get past the paywall did it mention anything of note? They get official confirmation?
-
Oh really? Did you post it?

Sounds like that guy could work with the Ray Richards Developers - he could potentially expand his business to the new building.

Maryville.... looks like they may be making a move. https://chesterfieldmo.portal.civicclerk.com/event/8482/files/attachment/321

Paywall, but the ice sheet at the Carlson Center in Fairbanks reduced the dimensions last summer. It's NHL size now, or close. https://www.newsminer.com/news/local_news/carlson-center-rink-bleachers-gets-an-upgrade/article_38c8856a-97c2-11ef-a688-bb2555726253.html I think UAA's on campus arena is an NHL sized sheet as well.

As currently zoned, is the city currently getting any tax rev from the property?

Kind of sad so many people prefer UND continue to lose a half a million dollars each year on it's golf course. UND is funded by taxpayers as well, so that's taxpayer money, no? The golf facility will apparantly make continued operations at ray richards sustainable, and the same could potential be said for the golf program, as it will provide essential facilities for them. This facility would be a new and different community asset in a way that Albotros isn't. UND should shut down the golf course (another community asset), sell the property, and shut down the men's golf program if this doesn't get the go-ahead, imo. Can't be losing taxpayer money now.

Pretty crazy how often you rip Fenton without understanding all the facts. Notre Dame announced their intention to join Hockey East two years prior to Fenton becoming NCHC commissioner.

Agreed. ACHA is the best and theirs are the only club championships that truly mean anything, IMO. This explains a lot though: About the ECAC The ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) is an eighty-year old organization with well over 200 members schools across all three NCAA Divisions - I, II and III - that exists to enhance the experience of student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics, and provide great value for universities and colleges, by sponsoring championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments and other competitions throughout the Northeast. Most of the ECAC's members also belong to another conference, which is often the school's primary conference. The ECAC also hosts a comprehensive esports program that presently involves over 270 schools fielding 1500 teams across 21 different esports games, streamed live four nights a week. The ECAC's esports platform has and continues to expand the geographic footprint of the Conference nationally. Additionally, the ECAC is becoming involved in sponsoring competitions and leagues involving other varsity and club sports that do not fall under the umbrella of the NCAA.

Lets be real - the P5 have enough funding. Illinois could have easily done it. Georgia could easily do it. Iowa could. They just don't want the distraction and the administrators don't want to annoy existing FB/BB boosters that want every penny dumped into those sports. The P5 budgets have pretty much doubled over the last decade or so.

Looks like the REA also schedule a concert the night of the Youngstown game.

Some new UAA renderings. Their Board of Regents is going to officially enter an MOU with the Seawolf Hockey Alliance tomorrow. Doesn't mean anything is going to get built, but it's another step in the right direction. Meeting May 21, 2025 - Board of Regents' Facilities and Land Management Committee Agenda Category Full Board Consent Agenda Subject Approval to sign and execute a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and the Seawolf Hockey Alliance (SHA) Type Action Recommended Action MOTION: “The Facilities and Land Management Committee recommends that the Board of Regents grant authorization to the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) to sign and execute the MOU, as presented, between UAA and the Seawolf Hockey Alliance (SHA) to facilitate the development of formal agreements between the parties to pursue construction of a Division 1 competitive community ice complex on the Anchorage Campus (the “project”). This motion does not grant approval for a ground lease of land or overall project approval – any such actions will be subject to future Board approval. This motion is effective May 21, 2025.” Rational and Recommendation: During the February 20-21, 2025 Board of Regents (BOR) meeting the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) brought forward a request to negotiate a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Seawolf Hockey Alliance (SHA) to jointly pursue a new community ice complex. The board passed a motion for UAA to draft an MOU for presentation at the May 2025 BOR meeting. This action is the follow-on of that motion based upon UAA and SHA development and negotiation of the authorized draft MOU. This MOU is meant to serve as a non-binding, general framework for future agreements between the university and SHA in pursuit of a Division 1 competitive ice complex. The MOU positions SHA as the primary fundraiser for this effort, with UAA securing necessary project approvals and ensuring master plan and programmatic alignment. Both UAA and SHA will guide the technical aspects of the building design and fundraising plan. The MOU does not grant approval for any ground lease or overall project approval. The anticipated next steps following execution of this MOU is for UAA to prepare a request for Formal Project Approval (FPA) for consideration, prospectively at the September 2025 BOR meeting. In addition to FPA, UAA and SHA will develop a more detailed development agreement that will set specific terms on items such as fundraising, design considerations, timeline to execute the project, building/space naming plan, the terms of which will be shared with the BOR as part of the FPA approval. https://go.boarddocs.com/ak/alaska/Board.nsf/files/DGPMPZ5C471D/$file/20250521 - UAA-SHA MOU presentation.pdf

I don't think P3 projects should be counted as fundraising and the fundraising for the Pollard addition took forever, and it's way smaller than originally planned. Happy they got it done, and they were creative, but I strongly disagree that he deserves any credit for fundraising.

Anyone send an email and get a response? Curious what they say...

Where is their office? Doesn't UND already rent out the entire first floor? Curious if they are mixed in with the athletic department offices there?
