  1. I thought it might be that but it seemed weird to do 98% of the state and then say "well, let's move on to the 3-point line." Maybe they had to order in some more green.
  2. I love the name, I respect the name, I simply don't have much respect any more for people who would knowingly destroy the University that name currently represents. It's a matter of priorities and the nickname at all costs crowd appears confused as to what is actually more important. UND can survive without the logo, but the logo can't survive without UND. Oh and no i did not take a brand identification course (to be honest the Marketing program at UND is a bit of a joke). I did take several classes with UND athletes though and wouldn't you know it, their opinion is the same as mine is now. 3 years ago I was one of you people, calling for Pres. Kelley's head and the rest of the SBHE with him. I've come to realize that North Dakota is not going to beat the NCAA in this fight, and I refuse to cut off my nose to spite my face. Keeping the name does no harm to the NCAA, it only hurts UND, its students, and its athletes. You will not find a post made by me "bad-mouthing" the name, because I love the name..... but some things are more important.
  3. Is that supposed to be the shape of the state around the ND?? It looks wrong.....
  4. But.... but..... the hockey team was under sanctions..... and..... and even though..... even though there are no home NCAA playoff games for NCAA hockey...... the sanctions which don't allow home playoff games didn't seem to hurt the hockey team..... therefore..... we can conclude the sanctions wouldn't hurt any sport at UND...... right??
  5. Agreed. Which is one of the reasons we voted for this: http://bismarcktribune.com/news/state-and-regional/north-dakota-oil-tax-legacy-fund-tops-m-in-nine/article_20f2aaa6-a036-11e1-b067-0019bb2963f4.html It should ease the pain (from a government services/taxes standpoint anyways) once this thing does go bust.
  6. Several things would have to go right for this to happen..... starting on June 12th.
  7. Nice one, however, my feelings are mixed on this issue. $75 per day is a lot ($27K per year), but a restaurant that has an actual building and pays property taxes pays a lot too. It'd be nice to see more permanent buildings/restaurants and less of the restaurant trucks that will only be there for a couple years or so, but these restaurant trucks are serving an immediate need.
  8. Here's what Watford City is doing anyways: http://bismarcktribune.com/news/state-and-regional/food-trucks-get-days-to-move-out-of-watford-city/article_ab45c3d8-98c4-11e1-94e6-0019bb2963f4.html
  9. If you kept on reading the SAB post, you would've seen that it wasn't a Forum poll that showed Pomeroy beating Berg, it was a Democrat poll published in the Forum. This one polled 25 people in Sioux County and acknowledged that it was difficult to get in contact with many more. It's a poll, they aren't supposed to be exact, perhaps you should've taken a statistics course while at UND. Don't get your panties in too big of a bunch. What I got from the poll is that it could still go either way....
  10. Looks like they even got this little tidbit in the article on the UND-NDSU football series resuming.....
  11. Since Izzo is media......
  12. Instead of building restaurants, people are just bringing in trailers/mobile food vendors. Not sure if this is due to cost, red tape, or fear of the bust. Cities are creating greater restrictions on the mobile food vendors because they aren't paying property taxes and other costs of doing business.
  13. You can run back to Bville now.... you lost.
  14. Immediately after which you exhibited your jealousy of UND.
  15. He's saying the poll isn't valid because it doesn't even have any people who said they were undecided on the issue. He might have a point, but I'd guess the question was asked in a "If the vote was held today" kind of way. That way it captures which way everybody is leaning.....
  16. I hate to do this, but..... UMary. Note: I can understand if you were trying to say UMary isn't a real school.
  17. Exactly.
  18. One big thing is there was never a run-up in the price of housing in ND before the oil boom like there was in the rest of the country. However, the oil boom is causing the price of housing to increase dramatically now. If the oil boom were to go bust, many people (especially in the western half of the state starting with Bismarck and Minot) would see the value of their property decrease a lot. The state as a whole would go through some lean years as it adjusts back to pre-2008 (when the rest of the country was booming) spending levels. Although the state would've been fine without the oil boom, it is quickly becoming dependent on it now that it's here. IMO, you're both right to an extent. ND was fine before the oil boom, but if it goes bust things could be difficult for a few years (again, especially for western ND). However, most economists and people on the ground don't see this oil boom going bust any time soon, but it's pretty rare for them to predict a bust when everyone is making so much money pushing the boom.
  19. Shhhh, we don't bring up that stuff here.
  20. I get that too even though I posted a comment in it earlier. It's just another thread about the nickname and Minnesota playing some teams (FSU) and not others. It probably got deleted because there are dozens of other threads on similar topics.
  21. Just because western ND will finally have $$ doesn't mean eastern ND will no longer make any $$. ND's economy is currently in one of those great situations where the entire state can make $$. Oh, and Bismarck is already a lot bigger than Grand Forks, it just doesn't seem like it because the people of Bismarck are so backwards.
  22. I believe he was referencing my post about UND being in the same conference as Minot, Crookston, and UMary. It wasn't a slam against ND, it was a statement that UND should be associating itself with comparable schools. Other than geography (and in Minot's case the NDUS), UND has little in common with these small schools.
  23. UNDBIZ

    Cary Eades ?

My response was only to still being D2 instead of moving up to D1. As far as Crookston not playing UND, I'd assume if we were in the same conference then it would be similar to UM-TC only playing UND in conference play. Not that it makes a valid argument anyways because being in the same conference as the aforementioned schools would be an embarrassment and a huge blow to student recruitment.
  24. State appropriations are not used for athletics at UND, you've been told this before.
  25. Yeah because playing against Minot, UMary, and Crookston would be way better for UND than playing against crappy old Texas Tech, Fresno St, and Kansas.
