You people keep bringing this up. If only 10% of the tribe voted, that must mean 90% of the tribe doesn't care enough about the name either way to vote. Saying the vote is invalid because only 70% of the 10% who voted were in favor is a fool's argument.

It's something the state is often required to post. Do I think the world will be a better place for it?? No. As for the Sioux logo vs NCAA reference, do I like that that NCAA is telling UND what to do? No. Do I agree with the NCAA's policy? No. Do I think the policy is racist? Yes. Does it matter anymore? No. The state and now the people of SL have both tried and failed to have the NCAA policy overturned. It's not going to happen. At this point, all we can do is move on and do what is best for UND and the athletic teams we love.

I don't understand how you sit on your computer making assumptions about a person and his family that you've never even met. I'm getting the impression from your posts that you had a difficult childhood, but that is no excuse to assume all other parents abuse their kids.

If she could have cared less, then he gave her the option to sit for a half rather than being embarrassed in front of her teammates (because apologizing is so embarrassing). You seem to have a bigger issue with the fact that this guy coaches his daughter's team than anything else. Most parents I know who coach their kids' team do so out of a sense of having to chip in, not just so they can be in control. I don't know if you're dad was mean to you growing up or what, but not all parents are the same.

Where did he say he's abused his daughter?? By threatening to bench her for the first half of a soccer game because she skipped practice?? Any respectable coach would do the same.

I'm thinking the vote only being 3 to 1 on this site is bad news for UND when it comes to the statewide vote. If only 3/4 of the people who are educated on the topic vote to save UND, I can't imagine how bad it's going to be once you add in the average ND voter.

I believe that is already happening to some extent. Rather than paying for a spot in the parking lot, people are going to the Tavern or Playmakers in the Canad Inn. However, drinking in a bar/restaurant is not tailgating....

I graduated a few years ago but when I was going to UND they sent emails to all the students notifying us of events taking place that week or the next week. Unfortunately, the emails often showed up late in the week so if you didn't check your email friday you didn't even know about the football game the following day (unless you put forth enough effort to look up a schedule, which most students don't do). Also, the emails were filled with Greek life garbage so I (and I'm guessing most people) just deleted them without reading most of what was in the email. Putting up more notices of upcoming games on the bulletin boards in the dorms, lecture buildings, student union, and dining centers would be a quick, easy step in the right direction (I guess can't really guarantee that they're haven't already been doing this for the past few years to no results). When I started at UND, the football crowds were awesome, but they've really tapered off. I think one of the biggest problems may be the changes the Alerus Center made to tailgating a few years ago. As much as I hate NDSU, their tailgating is much better/easier than tailgating at the Al.
