I agree one vote isn't going to decide this thing, just trying to make it clear why Sic felt the need to point out JohnyBoy's short-sitedness. I'm not as confident as you are that the name will be dropped, but for the sake of UND I hope you're right.

Are you referring to Johnboy's post? He might be sarcastic about the "nickname at all costs crowd" giving him hope, but he has stated multiple times he is serious about voting "no" on the measure.

I realize they both face the press box this way, but I figured they'd want the one on the far side to face the crowd on that side. Apparently you're new here and new to this debate also. You're calling ira out on inaccuracies and yet you failed to point out a single one. The nickname debate is no longer about sticking it to the NCAA (those attempts have already failed). It's about doing what is best for UND. Please take the time to educate yourself on this issue and use some logic in deciding which way to vote on 6/12.

Freudian slip?? Agree with most everything stated, but did NDSU really say they won't schedule UND due to the name? I know the article said they postponed negotiations until after the nickname issue was settled, but I guess I didn't read that as "we won't schedule you until you're off sanctions." Was there another article on the subject?? Regardless, the sanctions and list of teams refusing to play us are bad enough even without NDSU.

The Oregon Board of Education is responsible for the elementary through high schools. The Oregon Board of Higher Education is responsible for the universities. Still, I'd view this as a step towards eventual statewide bans at the University level also. Once one domino falls, others are likely to follow....

Keeping the name does nothing to the NCAA. If you don't realize that at this point, then there is no getting through to you. Spirit Lake lost their lawsuit, UND (and the state) lost their lawsuit, and UND (and the state) signed a settlement which stipulates they won't sue the NCAA again unless the NCAA violates the original agreement. Standing Rock refuses to approve the nickname and every other tribe in the state has come out against the nickname (other than Spirit Lake). What do you propose as the next step in the war on the NCAA?

If you don't think there's a "keep the nickname at all costs" crowd on this forum, apparently you haven't read any of Fletch's or LakesDave's posts. They've repeatedly called for an AHL team to take the logo and REA or for athletics at UND to be completely disbanded. So you don't think UND has earned the name Bravehearts (a name which, personally, I don't like), but they have earned the name Fighting Sioux?? Apparently you don't regard the name Fighting Sioux as highly as you would like us to think.... if UND hasn't earned the name Fighting Sioux, then by all means, vote to take it away from them on June 12th.
