  1. Are they friends or just because it improves the team??
  2. Must admit I am shocked by this one..... Good to hear though!!
  3. The future NHLers would be wise to take an introductory personal finance/investments course (with the rate professional athletes declare bankruptcy). Very basic, simple things.... but things most people don't know or think of. I recall Oshie and several others being in my class.
  4. There are "tutors" for that.....
  5. I agree that he handled the situation properly by not committing to UND and then backing out, however, it would still appear he used UND as leverage to get himself traded to Portland....
  6. hopefully she doesn't get herpes...
  7. because he would have to play competitive hockey.....
  8. You can watch Doomsday Preppers on National Geographic for ideas....
  9. You should hold your breath until that happens FYI: A settlement is what happens when the case is ended before one side wins....
  10. If the NCAA was to settle, the settlement certainly wouldn't include taking UND off the sanctions list....
  11. The leftover CCHA teams joined the WCHA. The CCHA will no longer exist.
  12. Maybe they should have their's in the REA??
  13. I hear the weight room/training facilities in the Fargodome are pretty nice......
  14. I don't think they have any excuse not to have been there. Work, travel, even the death of a loved one are all trivial matters when compared to the loss of the nickname...
  15. I'd prefer facts and well-thought-out opinions....
  16. Any lawyers out there have some insight or opinions as to how the case was presented by each side?? Predictions??
  17. I believe UND paid just over half (around $2 million if I recall correctly). UND was not obligated to pay for any of the turf, as it was stipulated in the original contract that the Alerus Center would replace the turf in 10 years (I believe it's been 12). Edit: Looks like 82SiouxGuy beat me to it....
  18. When all the bad things happen, then it's too late. The law in North Dakota has nothing to do with the success or failure of Spirit Lake's lawsuit against the NCAA.
  19. Well it's good to see something is happening. UND/SBHE needs to find out how to convince the masses this is terrible for UND, its students, and the state of North Dakota. They need to find out how to convince the masses that UND and its students are more important than a sports team logo. Hopefully the phone surveys (if they are being conducted by UND/SBHE) give them some good intel on how to go about accomplishing these things. North Dakotans are a stubborn people, but I like to think we can be wise as well.
  20. Mods should probably delete this thread now. OP is an obvious troll....
  21. Good point. It'd sure be easier if they threatened the statewide sanctions now though. Wouldn't have to worry about either vote handcuffing UND.
  22. I'd love it if they came out and said they were going to do this before the June vote, I just don't see it happening though.... Edit: by "they" I mean the NCAA, not Ron, Russell, etc.
  23. Because people love to watch UND (their hometown school and/or alma mater) play.
  24. I've said it before but I'll say it again. Just because the NCAA applied sanctions in that fashion against SC doesn't mean that's how the sanctions would be applied against North Dakota. However, I still think there is little to no chance the NCAA applies sanctions against the entire state of ND, even though it would be fair....
  25. I agree. Great to see we're all on the same page now.
