  2. The only fans of the bizon are people who went to NDSU..... it's a symptom of being an unknown garbage school with no national presence.
  3. The Oregon Board of Education is responsible for the elementary through high schools. The Oregon Board of Higher Education is responsible for the universities. Still, I'd view this as a step towards eventual statewide bans at the University level also. Once one domino falls, others are likely to follow....
  4. Keeping the name does nothing to the NCAA. If you don't realize that at this point, then there is no getting through to you. Spirit Lake lost their lawsuit, UND (and the state) lost their lawsuit, and UND (and the state) signed a settlement which stipulates they won't sue the NCAA again unless the NCAA violates the original agreement. Standing Rock refuses to approve the nickname and every other tribe in the state has come out against the nickname (other than Spirit Lake). What do you propose as the next step in the war on the NCAA?
  5. Ha, that last batch of Kolpack kool-aid must've been mixed pretty strong....
  6. If you don't think there's a "keep the nickname at all costs" crowd on this forum, apparently you haven't read any of Fletch's or LakesDave's posts. They've repeatedly called for an AHL team to take the logo and REA or for athletics at UND to be completely disbanded. So you don't think UND has earned the name Bravehearts (a name which, personally, I don't like), but they have earned the name Fighting Sioux?? Apparently you don't regard the name Fighting Sioux as highly as you would like us to think.... if UND hasn't earned the name Fighting Sioux, then by all means, vote to take it away from them on June 12th.
  7. It's good to see NDSU fans acknowledging UND isn't a creampuff anymore What does the 12th game have to do with the coach (I really don't know)? Does Bohl just not want a 12 game season?
  8. If it's to be retired, I'd say it's where it belongs right now.
  9. That will never happen because teams across the country are lining up to fly to Fargo, North Dakota.
  10. Is there a rule against using the trophy once the nickname is retired? I was under the impression items of historical significance (other than the nickname of course) could still be used.
  11. I thought the first 1:25 was ok. I kinda laughed to myself thinking about nickname at all costers with Hitler's face..... then the video went off on a tangent where it brought up this crappy school that nobody outside of North Dakota, Minnesota, or South Dakota has ever heard of. They won a championship last year in America's favorite sport (in a sub-division most of America has never heard of) and still nobody in the country knows who they are. Most people outside of ND seem to think UND won the championship last year.... because they've actually heard of UND before. I heard the crappy school still felt envious of UND after they won that championship even though they don't consider UND a rival anymore.....
  12. I thought it might be that but it seemed weird to do 98% of the state and then say "well, let's move on to the 3-point line." Maybe they had to order in some more green.
  13. I love the name, I respect the name, I simply don't have much respect any more for people who would knowingly destroy the University that name currently represents. It's a matter of priorities and the nickname at all costs crowd appears confused as to what is actually more important. UND can survive without the logo, but the logo can't survive without UND. Oh and no i did not take a brand identification course (to be honest the Marketing program at UND is a bit of a joke). I did take several classes with UND athletes though and wouldn't you know it, their opinion is the same as mine is now. 3 years ago I was one of you people, calling for Pres. Kelley's head and the rest of the SBHE with him. I've come to realize that North Dakota is not going to beat the NCAA in this fight, and I refuse to cut off my nose to spite my face. Keeping the name does no harm to the NCAA, it only hurts UND, its students, and its athletes. You will not find a post made by me "bad-mouthing" the name, because I love the name..... but some things are more important.
  14. Is that supposed to be the shape of the state around the ND?? It looks wrong.....
  15. But.... but..... the hockey team was under sanctions..... and..... and even though..... even though there are no home NCAA playoff games for NCAA hockey...... the sanctions which don't allow home playoff games didn't seem to hurt the hockey team..... therefore..... we can conclude the sanctions wouldn't hurt any sport at UND...... right??
  16. Agreed. Which is one of the reasons we voted for this: http://bismarcktribune.com/news/state-and-regional/north-dakota-oil-tax-legacy-fund-tops-m-in-nine/article_20f2aaa6-a036-11e1-b067-0019bb2963f4.html It should ease the pain (from a government services/taxes standpoint anyways) once this thing does go bust.
  17. Several things would have to go right for this to happen..... starting on June 12th.
  18. Nice one, however, my feelings are mixed on this issue. $75 per day is a lot ($27K per year), but a restaurant that has an actual building and pays property taxes pays a lot too. It'd be nice to see more permanent buildings/restaurants and less of the restaurant trucks that will only be there for a couple years or so, but these restaurant trucks are serving an immediate need.
  19. Here's what Watford City is doing anyways: http://bismarcktribune.com/news/state-and-regional/food-trucks-get-days-to-move-out-of-watford-city/article_ab45c3d8-98c4-11e1-94e6-0019bb2963f4.html
  20. If you kept on reading the SAB post, you would've seen that it wasn't a Forum poll that showed Pomeroy beating Berg, it was a Democrat poll published in the Forum. This one polled 25 people in Sioux County and acknowledged that it was difficult to get in contact with many more. It's a poll, they aren't supposed to be exact, perhaps you should've taken a statistics course while at UND. Don't get your panties in too big of a bunch. What I got from the poll is that it could still go either way....
  21. Looks like they even got this little tidbit in the article on the UND-NDSU football series resuming.....
  22. Since Izzo is media......
  23. Instead of building restaurants, people are just bringing in trailers/mobile food vendors. Not sure if this is due to cost, red tape, or fear of the bust. Cities are creating greater restrictions on the mobile food vendors because they aren't paying property taxes and other costs of doing business.
