What post is this directed at? Regardless, a true fan will follow the team with or without the name.

How long ago did they play at UND? Where were they from originally? What other schools offered them scholarships to play? Was UND under sanctions at the time? Is their first name Frank?

Recruits don't choose a school to make a political statement. They choose a school where they can win, get noticed (professional path), or get a good education. You wouldn't know about any of that because you have never chosen a school or played an organized sport.

And how exactly did they force him to give up on his convictions? He's a great coach who could've gotten a job anywhere. I don't believe he wouldn't have compromised his beliefs purely from "peer pressure." More likely, he realized the battle was lost and it was time to move on. Perhaps he realized that he, his assistants, and his players (along with the coaches and players of all the other athletic teams at the school) are more important than a nickname and logo.

Then please explain your statement that Hak "had to admit" the name should be retired.

It's something the state is often required to post. Do I think the world will be a better place for it?? No. As for the Sioux logo vs NCAA reference, do I like that that NCAA is telling UND what to do? No. Do I agree with the NCAA's policy? No. Do I think the policy is racist? Yes. Does it matter anymore? No. The state and now the people of SL have both tried and failed to have the NCAA policy overturned. It's not going to happen. At this point, all we can do is move on and do what is best for UND and the athletic teams we love.

I don't understand how you sit on your computer making assumptions about a person and his family that you've never even met. I'm getting the impression from your posts that you had a difficult childhood, but that is no excuse to assume all other parents abuse their kids.

If she could have cared less, then he gave her the option to sit for a half rather than being embarrassed in front of her teammates (because apologizing is so embarrassing). You seem to have a bigger issue with the fact that this guy coaches his daughter's team than anything else. Most parents I know who coach their kids' team do so out of a sense of having to chip in, not just so they can be in control. I don't know if you're dad was mean to you growing up or what, but not all parents are the same.

Where did he say he's abused his daughter?? By threatening to bench her for the first half of a soccer game because she skipped practice?? Any respectable coach would do the same.
