    2016 Stats

I'll take my crow with raisin sauce, please.
  2. Typical spineless committee of academics. Why put the coaches and student athletes through that farce last week? Prez Kennedy still makes the final decision.
  3. 8 - 3 should not be left out... even if it is UND. Getting nervous about that last game with NAU.
  4. In light of the budget shortfall currently being addressed, would Pres Kennedy turn down an offer from the new WAC to become FBS? Would he be more of the Montana mindset and say no or not yet, or would he be of the New Mexico State mindset and go FBS at the first opportunity (which would not happen without the Montanas and Idaho)? Another question to ponder is what would happen if the MWC lost two schools to the Big 12 (extremely unlikely) and the Montanas got the opportunity to move up on their own. That would give Idaho an out and possibly make the Summit the real best option. Or... What if Missouri State leaves the MVC and an opening in the MVC comes up for NDSU and NDSU left the Summit? Or... What if moves by Youngstown and/or Missouri State opened in a spot in the MVFC and the Summit for UND? Is that a slam-dunk for some of you? as stated before, I like UND in the Big Sky, but what I think doesn't have any bearing on what happens at the decision making level. Just curious what those of you who are better connected think could happen under these 'way-out' scenarios. The last question I have is not really related to these, but it is related to the objective of being competitive in the sports that UND continues... If UND is going to keep the women's hockey team, is the current coaching staff the right fit to take UND to the championship? Is the current men's bb staff the right one to get UND to the dance? As someone else said earlier, can women's bb get competitive with the current staff like they were under Coach Roebuck? It feels like the hockey and football pieces are in place, but what about the other teams UND fields? Most of these questions seems to fit with the stated goal of Pres Kennedy, but will require reallocating the resources that are being 'saved' by the reductions that are being discussed. And finally, is Faison the right person to head up an athletic department that fulfills these goals?
  5. No. live in roadrunner/coyote country (Arizona). About an hour west of a mountain formation that was the inspiration for the domino effect of tall rock formations in the cartoon. Chiricahua Mountains in Cochise County, AZ
  6. You must think (by the tone of your post) that I am a 'Yote fan. No. The original post you quoted was a sarcastic remark about how the polls discount the Big Sky and seemingly bow down to the MVFC.
  7. Big Sky app won't chromecast from my iPad. ESPN app syncs easily.
  8. Trying to watch Eastern Washington/Northern Colorado game, but that red field at Roos is just so rude.
  9. Western Illinois trying to get that 6-5 playoff bid again this year. Trailing Indiana State 35-27 late in the third quarter.
  10. With this win, USD will be rated higher than UND in the polls (even with a win tonight) and UNI will still be in the top 20
  11. UNI missed a field goal with just over 3 minutes to go. USD 3 and out UNI gets the ball back with 2 minutes to go. USD 28 UNI 25
  12. Fixed. But at this rate, will be 5 hrs soon
  13. Less than 6 hours to kickoff and still no game day thread? Is it because it's hockey season or are you all "beeting off" with gfhockey?
  14. Don't hate the Summit, just prefer the Big Sky.
  15. Posted this in the Betty vs SHAC thread, but think it's relevant here too I don't disagree that seeing old NCC foes more regularly would help UND attendance for MBB, WBB, VB and other sports. My comment was more directed at those on this board who seem to think that joining the Summit would be the answer to UND's financial shortfall. I understand that it would allow more bus trips, but not confident it would mean an increase in gate receipts. Up until this IAC review, almost all (disclaimer - yes, there have been some UND posters too) of the calls for UND to join the Summit feel like they have come from Bison fans. Now, suddenly, there is this wave of support for UND to move to the Summit. There are only a couple of things to overcome here, but they are pretty big. The Big Sky would have to allow UND to leave the conference only a handful of years after it rescued UND from FCS independence when the MVFC was not gong to invite the Sioux, while allowing football to stay. I don't want to take the time to go searching for it, but I did read the Big Sky agreement with Idaho that specifically named North Dakota as one of 3 schools that would allow them to cancel the move. It's nice to be wanted. UND needs a football home, and it doesn't appear that the Summit would break off from the MVFC to form its own football conference. There has been no invitation from the MVFC, or the Summit for that matter, for UND to join the conference, and history has not trended in that direction. Yes, the Summit/MVFC has had success lately, but the Big Sky has a solid history and the affiliation differentiates UND from the other Dakota schools. It would be nice if USD hadn't joined the Summit/MVFC and left UND on an island alone, but a 14 team FCS/mid-major conference is likely to reorganize/break up sooner rather than later and an affiliation with the Montanas and Idaho feels like it has a great future... maybe one that NDSU will also want to join.

  17. This runs counter to the argument that UND would be so much better off in the Summit against old NCC rivals NDSU, USD, SDSU AND Omaha. As has been posted several times on the board, UND's attendance really doesn't go up that much unless it's NDSU. As long as Jones settles for second/third in the conference, it won't matter if UND is in the Bg Sky or the Summit or the WAC.
  18. Only if they replace that awful red turf.
  19. this ^^^^ now, if that conference was UND, NDSU, Montana, Montana State, Idaho, Idaho State, USD, SDSU and New Mexico State, that would be a nice conference (but NMSU might not be interested in such a northern conference). Maybe Denver for Olympic sports. Wyoming would be nice too, but you won't get them to leave the MWC.
  20. m & w tennis and w golf are required by the BSC m golf is being funded by outside sources softball, soccer and m & w swimming/diving are not required by BSC. Is there enough funding reduction in these to meet the objective?
  21. That piece makes it sound like there is not enough support for an FBS conference. And, with SV's cobbled-together band of misfits it feels like UND would be better off in the <choke> Summit than in thE reformed WAC with Liberty, UTRGV, et al. Now I will go wash my mouth out with soap.
  22. I don't see anything in this post that is not correct. However, if the Sioux go 6-1 to finish the season, whether from 1-3 or 2-2, and don't make the playoffs... That would confirm any and all conspiracy theories.
