Quoting yourself JBB? bad form!
-
I believe the offers have been made in the past seasons, but Bubba has not been able to land the young guns... after all, what hot young qb would want to come to UND under Rudy’s system to hand off the ball on the first and second downs and then be swarmed under on third down because it’s 3rd and long and the defense knows you have to pass? Will that change under Freund? Time will tell.

A few random thoughts... NCC 2.0 would be infinitely better than the dumpster fire that the Summit has been. There may be some stability in getting the band back together. Add a couple Minnesota move-ups like St Thomas, who was an original NCC founding member, and late 20th Century conference mate MN State, and you might be able to sustain a league for more than 2 years. The Big Sky may have been a large geographic footprint, but it is a stable conference that is in no danger of losing its auto bids. Was it short-sighted for UND to leave the BSC? It would be great if SV’s realignment model could possibly happen. A conference of the northern research institutions (either FCS or FBS) would be an ideal scenario. But as Sica said, there are so many moving parts... Do (some of) the Bison posters not realize that losing the baseball autobid also means that the Summit loses the basketball autobid? I don’t trust the NCAA to offer small/mid-major schools an invitation to March Madness without a conference championship to obligate them. That is the one time that the NCAA gives money back to the conferences/schools.

This... worry about cheap shots in the 2nd game...

JBB is that you? ^^^^^ ^^^^^

Could/would the WAC apply for an extension like the Summit did in anticipation of Dixie and Cal Baptist completing their transition, giving them the extra time they need?
-
Asking because I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night... Would it be possible to bring the MVFC in under the Summit League? Does the MVC have enough non-football sports to no be threatened with loss of auto bids? If I recall correctly, the MVFC is not actually a league under the MVC. Would the MVC schools be willing to allow the MVFC to become a Summit conference to stabilize the situation?

Drop tennis. Add men’s soccer. Baseball might be a tough sale.

Is Freund locked in on Ketteringham? Will that mean there is already no competition for the starting QB position? That might be the first indication of Schweigert's unwillingness to adapt.

Maybe it just comes down to his career choice. Probably wants to own the farm, not work on it
-
Neither is Wyoming, tbh

Great line-up! That would be sweet. Now get everyone to cooperate. The new WAC could become a significant mid-major player. However, still not convinced that UND and the rest of these new WAC schools should leave FCS. Playing football games on a Tuesday or Wednesday for the chance to play in the Idaho Potato Bowl or the Doosan Snow Bowl the second week of December doesn't seem like it will be any more significant than playing for the FCS championship. Maybe someone should start a thread "SHOULD UND go FBS?"... instead of UND and The Big Sky could go FBS

Sounds like a politician and campaign promises... hmmm...

JohnBoy has had some good posts over the years. This might be one of his best.

Maybe because the Big Sky is the Montana's conference. They are the center of the conference. Not geographically, but in power.
-
So, back to Northern Colorado? Or Augustana with football? Who else would be a possibility? New Mexico State? Would have to go FBS for NMSU. Montanas, Idaho, EWash... Can they really be talked out of the Big Sky? Seems really doubtful.
-
At least UMKC is an established D-I school. (No transition period like Augustana or St Thomas will have)
-
Would Denver block it?
-
A short press release: https://www.kshb.com/sports/umkc-will-return-to-summit-league-beginning-in-2020-21 soccer, but no baseball
-
So UND could have stayed in the Big Sky and not run a deficit?
-
aren't offensive linemen generally considered to be the smartest guys on the team?
-
Were Sather's assistants being considered for the head coach position? Are there any implications for UND and Sather's choices to fill out his staff that come from this? We should be hearing who he is adding to the staff soon, no?

No p.a. Genuinely appreciate your response. As a dumb internet dweeb, I didn't really understand your comment about only 1 FB in the class. Your answer tells me that Bubba, with a run-first offense, is losing recruiting battles with schools at UND's level. The point of my original comment was that the Hawks are not getting good rb's and were willing to take on a less-study focused student because they can't get the rb's that have both good scholar records and D-I level football talent. I think we are on the same page, but did not express myself clearly. Again, I sincerely appreciate your answer. Thank you Geaux
