  1. Burger Time. I think anyone can agree it is delicious.
  2. I seriously doubt that the people in the western half are anymore familiar with the Big Sky when compared to the MVFC. Weber State? Eastern Washington? Northern Arizona? I'd imagine they'd know Montana and Montana State. At least at this point in time.
  3. Are you upset that I corrected someone that he hasn't (to our knowledge) been offered a scholarship by Wisconsin? Ease up. If my name was JohnboyUND7 you wouldn't have gotten ticked. Regardless, good luck to the guy at wisconsin.
  4. Not to sound like a jerk but the eastern half of the state has more people I believe. And those people are closer to Grand Forks. Those people are more likely to actually buy tickets one would think.
  5. I can actually cheer for him now! I cheer for Wisky when I see them on the tube.
  6. Should be fun to compare the pre-season and post-season ratings.
  7. Comparing Fargo and Grand Forks to me is like comparing Bismarck to Jamestown, or Jamestown to Valley City. may want to change the subject now due to thread drifting.
  8. They both have North Dakota culture. That for me, is where the similarities end.
  9. Mama Maria's is not very good. Bad experience at Rhombus Guys but I have only heard good things about it so I imagine I just had some bad luck that time.
  10. Or do they call it the U because thats the only thing Grand Forks has inside of city limits that anyone cares about? Either way, incorporating "U" into the nickname would be ridiculous.
  11. I'll assume both of these are sarcastic.
  12. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oral_Roberts_Golden_Eagles#Baseball Baseball is very important to them apparently. And considering they weren't happy with the Summit anyway regarding the tourney placement for basketball, it makes sense that they'd move to a league that is probably better for baseball.
  13. I don't think Minnesota would have any interest in showing up in one of the Dakota's to play a football game unless they had to. MAYBE if one of the Dakota schools accomplished something at the FBS level.
  14. The bolded part doesn't mention that they moved to the Southland from what I have heard, for about 2 reasons. Baseball is Oral Roberts biggest sport. Southland is higher quality. Reason two, they were not happy that the Summit tourney for basketball was going to be in Sioux Falls rather than Tulsa from now on and they were no longer the kings of the conference. But yes, that seemed like a fair assessment. MVFC isn't going anywhere.
  15. Minnesota will not show up in Grand Forks. But like you said, UND would require to be A.) playing some decent teams at home, and B.) beating those teams consistently. Because like you said, if UND was not having a good year, you can bet the Alerus would be empty. NDSU would be able to get away with it better because of the "Football is King in Fargo" law.
  16. I don't know if UND could average 15,000. UND was getting 10,000 playing Duluth and Mankato cause UND was having a stretch of good seasons as well as WINNING these games. If UND was playing the Wyoming's and Fresno's of the world, and getting beat down which would probably happen for awhile, attendence would not average 15,000. As long as Grand Forks is roughly the size that it is, UND would have trouble moving to FBS with a fellow Division 1 school in North Dakota's largest center of population. Cool. You could use UND in NCAA on playstation. Totally a reason to move up and be a D- or D quality team on it every year. I'm with Hayduke in that NDSU would be the one most situated to move up at some point. That doesn't mean NDSU would be any good, for all I know we'd suck bad, but still in the best situation to move up.
  17. I think you make very good points. Very important to be in a buyer's conference. That is one concern (thread drift) I have about the Summit. Carry on.
  18. NDSU made money on the playoff games. So the quote is wrong. My cousin made money betting on the championship game, was it legal betting that I do not know. You know that JMU would probably call UND the wanna-bes. JMU has an FBS level stadium, and beat Va Tech two seasons ago. Also plays in the CAA. Also has a National Title. Just because they aren't Virginia or Maryland doesn't make them a wanna-be. You'd rather be in a conference with Weber St., Northern Colorado, and Southern Utah than teams like JMU, Liberty, Jacksonville, and possibly some other quality progams possibly including Montana and Montana St?
  19. Finishing top 3-4 consistently in a good conference is a good goal I'd say. Especially in a conference with Montana and Montana State. Expecting UND to finish 1st every year is just not realistic. Finishing top 3 will often get you into the playoffs I imagine and top 4 might especially with the expanded field. Also, you should keep in mind that the coaches in Cheney, Missoula, and Bozeman are also recruiting kids who want to win the Big Sky, and right now, all three of those teams have recently won Big Sky crowns and know exactly what it takes to do well.
  20. I don't know a person who refers to UND as the U. When I hear the "U" up here, I think of U of M. Or Miami.
  21. I'm with dmk on this. Better to be surprised in a good way by your team than to have wayyy too high of expectations like some fans can do and watch the team fall short of that. I'm sure Montana,Montana State, and Eastern Washington are excited about their recruits too and have all proven they know what it takes to be successful at the this level.
  22. Both of you make good points. If the Steelers of today played the Steelers of the 70's, no doubt the Steelers of today would pound the piss out of them. Relative to the rest of the competition though, the Steelers of yesteryear are always going to be considered better. If Notre Dame played against the Rockne Fighting Irish, the current edition would not hesitate to put up 70-100 points on the board.
  23. Not to nitpick but then wouldn't the proper term but to say his religion is the reason? Just because you are from Samoa wouldn't be the reason for the mission, it'd be because you are mormon.
