  1. FargoDome isn't like a dungeon inside anymore. New lighting made a noticable difference. I also find the dome to look better than the Alerus but maybe it is because I prefer brick. To each his own I suppose.
  2. I would hope you'd rather have the National Championship than the Nickel. Everyone in the state can watch it
  3. Played hockey. Not play hockey currently. Most people would have trouble naming a current UND hockey player. Besides, you might think that, but you'd be surprised how little some people care about certain sports or certain teams. People who are bigtime sports fans could easily do it for either school. The Nickel Trophy is probably somewhere in Grand Forks. That has no relevance in the discussion. Like many have pointed out, it is a dumb debate.
  4. Oh really? The state follows UND hockey religiously? That is a lie. If you ask people to name a UND hockey player, they won't be able to do it. If they followed UND hockey religiously, they'd be able to tell you UND's first line easily. This is the most ridiculous argument ever. Both are successful in their respective sports. Very difficult to try and make an argument one way or another. NDSU draws 18,000 or so. 15K is if they are having a bad year. So is Notre Dame obviously bigger than USC because while USC gets more fans at their games, they have the LA market while Notre Dame has the significantly smaller South Bend market? Is Nebraska bigger than Oklahoma because Nebraska is based out of Lincoln, and gets an extremely good attendence compared to Oklahoma being in the bigger Oklahoma City market with a similar attendence?
  5. Well you are free to think that, you just have absolutely nothing to base that on. Because everyone knows when it comes down to football interest vs. hockey interest, football always wins in America.
  6. So you want to penalize NDSU for having more people around to go to games?
  7. Hockey people are going to say UND; Football people are going to say NDSU. Pretty simple.
  8. Is that why James Madison beat a Virginia Tech team that finished in the top 10?
  9. While that would be great for UND if the guy decided to donate a lot of money to them, is he even a donor to UND athletics in the first place? I also don't see any reason for UND to be working on an alum to make donations. The Alerus is an above average (albeit no FargoDome) place to play football. I don't know why you would feel the need to be planning for a new venue barely 10 years after getting the Alerus.
  10. Honesty hurt much? He simply pointed out that UND probably honestly worth having ranked last year based on the victories they had considering who they played against. Anytime UND played a good team, they lost. Now someone is going to try convincing me(and themselves) how SUU was a big win.
  11. Just like EWU last year, NDSU would get the benefit of the doubt, especially if the games are close. Beating Montana and Montana State or EWU would qualify as impressive. I don't know about Portland State.
  12. Bison06 makes a good point. I'm not saying UND wasn't one of the 25 best teams. I'm also not saying they were. An 8-3 record looks nice, and 5-1 against FCS looks pretty good too. Then again, the quality of the FCS wins were not exactly sparkling. Regardless, I don't see why Kolpack would bring it up, I don't know the context in which he brought it up. But don't go saying that "NDSU fans can't let it go!" because people like Lakes are still fired up about it.
  13. Other than Kolpack bringing it up on the radio, the only place I see that "fiasco"mentioned is by UND fans, and even then its not very often, and often points out how NDSU fans can't let it go(once again, it seems as though it is assumed that all NDSU fans are like Lakes, or Kolpack). Chants don't go away. You don't hear any real anti-UND chants at NDSU games anymore. Under no circumstance was some hockey game against Boston College a bigger event in Grand Forks than a Bison/Sioux football game....unless both teams were having awful, awful seasons.
  14. EWU should be good this year. Last year they lost a few rough ones to start. Big transfer coming in who I believe is the reason their most recent QB transferred there oddly enough. Regardless, they know how to sling the rock around the yard.
  15. And then UND remembered how much trouble their attendence was in trouble, because DaveK wasn't going to go to anymore games.
  16. Hard to forget a Bison coaching legend. Love seeing old interviews with him. Real fiery guy. She was also the biggest winner in the NCC. I'd rather have her than DeHoff.
  17. UND is the big brother. Traditionally has been larger, for a long time NDSU (AC) felt it had something to prove. NDSU is now, the Peyton Manning to UND's Cooper I kid... How many titles did she bring home?
  18. I was trashed. My head hurts. If someone wants to show me how to set up an IV...that'd be fantastic.
  19. Obligatory ribbing. We have more hardware in Fargo before anyone goes off on me. read post above. i went after dave for you guys.
  20. The real Sioux fans are like you. Not the real fans who cheer for UND athletics. Then again, who would expect someone like you to understand. I seriously doubt Oilers fans in Tennessee quit cheering for them once they became the Titans. You are beyond idiotic. Are you aware I am more likable than you on this site? You do realize that should be impossible right? The saying me and some friends have tried to bring back. "Some people's children, I tell ya what...." That statement was coined for people like DaveK. You are a tard.
  21. Thats great for UND that they lead the nation in blocked FG's. Does that necessarily mean that they are going to do the same this upcoming season? Keep in mind, UND played USF, some Montana school, Drake, and another small school or two. Several games against significantly lesser competition. To assume blocked field goals are going to happen is a terrible, terrible way of planning. Blocked FG's are a bonus. When going into a game, you do not say, "well, if the other team goes for a field goal, we will block it." No, a blocked field goal is a best case scenario. Not something to count on. Teams like Virginia Tech like to brag about their special teams, and even they don't count on blocked field goals. If you think that blocked field goals are going to be something to count on, then more than likely, you are going to be sadly mistaken. Other teams pick up on stuff like that. Similar to how I do not expect Marcus Williams to pick off as many passes as he did last year, because teams figure out strengths, and will counter it. It does not take a genius to figure that out. Maybe UND will lead the nation in blocks, they could also very easily have 0 by the end of the year. NDSU blocked a few punts and field goals I believe in 2010. I think we maybe got a punt this year, and that I'm not even sure of. Like I said, counting on your field goal blocking team to win games is just asking to get beat. If that is the Ace up UND's sleeve, I feel really bad for UND football this year. Now solid defense, and adequate offense can be counted on, special teams blocks can't. Feel free to count on blocked punts. If that is what you are counting on to win you games you are going to have a fun time watching UND have a very mediocre year.
  22. blocking every field goal eh? seems likely. statements like that take away credibility from the rest of the statement, no matter how true it may be.
  23. Who does? Give me a percentage? How many NDSU fans will tell you that NDSU could beat teams like Alabama? Other than the people like Lakes. The top level FBS in a different level. The rest of it, the MWC, the C-USA, MAC, Sun Belt....all of those are FBS and presumably have your respect. A lot of those teams would not do anything special in the FCS. Heck, in 2010, #10 Virginia Tech got beat by James Madison and ended up in the Fiesta or Sugar Bowl. The elite FCS teams are sometimes capable of beating even some of the very good FBS teams. I understand your clearly pumped that Bama won 2 of the last 3 titles. You don't want the "lesser" D-I schools claiming that they won legitimate championships. But as far as the NCAA is concerned, of the Division I teams that followed the 63 scholarship rule, and other rules that the FCS and FBS differentiate on, NDSU is a National Champion in Division I.
  24. Thats the gameplan. Hopefully it works out. Watching in a giant, oven built ages ago is not fun. A new venue is in order.
