  1. I am as anxious as you are to get this program back to what it once was. But we need to be patient about this. Bubba has a lot of work ahead of him and I don't think 2014 will feature a lot of wins. In a couple of years, I think we'll have a winning program again and in five years I expect us to be in the playoffs. All in good time my friend. All in good time.
  2. At-large bid? Highly unlikely. But I like your thinking. This team works hard and hustles and that makes them fun to watch. Brewster has them playing really well right now.
  3. Yeah, some things are just so drilled into us we can't stop doing them. I actually feel naked without my watch on; I'll look at my left wrist to check the time and it's really annoying when it isn't there!
  4. Easy boys, we are all on the same team here! I think next season will be more about improvement from week to week, work ethic, attitude....all the intangibles that have been missing from this program for so long. We won't win a lot of games, but we will make our opponents earn whatever they get. That should help set the stage for the future.
  5. What did he say that wasn't true? Nothing. Yes, it was a win. But if we pull the same crap tomorrow night, it may very well end up as a loss.
  6. Stu Prickel (I mean Bickel).
  7. Every great FB defense (no matter the level of competition) that I have ever watched included a pass rush. The 2001 UND defense made it next to impossible for QBs to function; they were running for their lives most of the time. I think Bubba will bring that back. And please, no more 10 yard cushions for opposing WRs; I am so sick and tired of that.
  8. And if you want to get promised the moon, but find out when you get there that "Well, it just doesn't work that way here", go Major Junior.
  9. The women's team might make the NCAA tournament before the men.
  10. I want to get back to a vicious pass rush that has the QB running for his health and life, not sitting in the pocket with 4-5 seconds to find an open receiver. I want some tough, physical corners and if that means giving up some speed and athleticism, then so be it. I want safeties that are intelligent enough to help out both the run and pass defense. And I want linebackers that do what our linebackers used to do, beat the snot out of people. And with Bubba and Schmidt on the coaching staff, I think that is what we will get.
  11. You probably have your tickets to Frisco for 2015 all lined up already. Based on your comments, we should just fold the program and give up. In the words of former President George H.W. Bush, "Not gonna happen". The atmosphere at the Alerus Center is bad right now because the team is bad and it hasn't looked good in years. But from 2001-2005, there probably wasn't a tougher place to play in all of Division II. Ask Grand Valley State what it was like. Ask UC-Davis. Ask North Alabama. The student section was packed and everyone else chipped in and made it really tough on opposing teams. Obviously there is a lot of work to do to get back to that point, but it's been done before and it will be done again. Bubba Ball is here. You have been warned.
  12. Yeah, because FU has never, ever lost a recruit to UND. Ever! Just keep telling yourself that, son. The worm is turning. Very slowly, but it is turning. Get used to it, pal.
  13. I'm sorry, but yes you can! Leaving your team in the middle of the season for purely selfish purposes is just wrong and shows a lack of character, maturity and patience. Those are things he will need at the next level. I wonder if he will complain about lack of playing time in the ECHL, AHL or NHL?
  14. Sports in North Dakota just isn't the same without two strong college FB programs.
  15. None of that excuses leaving his team in a lurch in the middle of the season. Finish the season out; things might get better. If they don't, then make the switch. That would have given the coaches time to prepare for life without him. But no, he had to pull a Derrick Byfuglien and hang his teammates out to dry. Good riddance.
  16. The problem with fgosioux is that he implies that there is no solution and no way to fix our problems. I have pointed out the mediocrity in our programs, but I also think we have more than enough tools to turn it around.
  17. In fairness to gfhockey, a lot of people get Dustin and Derrick mixed up. 2000 was a long time ago.
  18. No, you are thinking of Dustin, not Derrick. I believe they are cousins. I looked up Derrick, his career went nowhere.
  19. This is the same bush-league move Derrick Byfuglien (Freshman D-Man from Roseau) pulled on us in 2000. Six games into his freshman season, he went whining and crying to Major Junior, complaining about lack of playing time. He also described himself as a "business man" making a "business decision". Well son, your career didn't amount to much, did it? Maybe if you had stuck around for two or three years, you might have developed into a solid defenseman. But no, you picked up your toys and went Major Junior. Just like Mr. Tambellini. And, like with Mr. Byfuglien, I won't feel sorry for Mr. Tambellini if it doesn't work out for him. Goodbye and don't let your butt hit the door on the way out.
  20. I am getting really sick and tired of the whole "You can't blame the kid for doing what he wants, when he wants" mentality. I am sorry, but I can (and will) blame this kid for: 1) bailing out on his teammates mid-season and, 2) quitting because the going got tough individually and/or the team wasn't winning This is the same bush-league move Derrick Byfuglien (Freshman D-Man from Roseau) pulled on us in 2000.
  21. Please don't feed this troll, we are giving him what he wants.
  22. Yeah, I think you are right. I mean, Roger Thomas found that out the hard way when he took over in 1986 and wasn't able to accomplish anything of merit.....oh wait, he DID, didn't he? This whole "NDSU is great and will be great forever, which means we are screwed forever" mentality needs to stop. Thank God Bubba doesn't think like that!
  23. Based on your negative attitude, we should just drop the program. Of course, it's possible you are a Bisonville troll in disguise here to cause trouble. If that is the case, get lost and don't let your butt hit the door on the way out!
  24. Everything is acceptable at FU as long as you win. Whiskey Joe's legacy lives on even after he hightailed it out of the state. All of these people will get theirs in due time. Any talk you hear about a four-peat is pure wishful thinking. I will remember all of these insults and cheap-shots and I will gladly shove it in their faces when the time is right.
