  1. I would have no problem with Roughriders. And using Green and White in cheers is okay; I just don't want it as an official nickname. And call me paranoid, but it sounds like the perfect choice of the PC zealots.
  2. I just don't think we can rely on getting an at-large bid this year. We are in a deeper hole than usual. It might happen, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.
  3. A split on the road in a place like Denver is a solid weekend IMO. The idea that last night is Saunders' fault is absurd. He'll hold down the fort until Gothberg comes back. Going into the playoffs, I expect to have two goaltenders we can turn to in any situation. It does look like we will have to win the NCHC tournament in March to advance to the NCAA's, but if we can play like we did this weekend, we will have a shot.
  4. Yep, the rules change when you bring a child into the world. I have seen it in friends of mine that have started having kids.
  5. Please don't give people ideas; the Heraldo seems almost determined to make "Green and White" the inevitable choice. That would irritate me more than most anything else.
  6. You like to put words in people's mouths, don't you? I didn't say any of the things you accused me of saying. I stand by the comments I made because I believe them to be the truth. You don't have to agree with it, but just don't accuse me of saying things I didn't say.
  7. Really? I talk in complete sentences, gfhockey does not. That alone ruins your comparison. I have never said people have to agree with what I post. But that doesn't mean I am going to be quiet because some people on here don't like how I think. If that is what you were implying, then you will be disappointed.
  8. Thank you for telling me something I already know. And yes, I don't agree with the list. And yes, I can and will blame collegehockeyinc.com for posting it. I have been a critic of the lack of atmosphere at REA over the years, but it has gotten better over time and it has all the bells and whistles you could ask for if you are a fan. The idea that REA isn't as good as The John in Minneapolis, the Kohl Center (which bumps hockey for basketball on a regular basis) or Compton Family Ice Arena (it's probably ranked where it is because of its connection with Notre Dame) is pure nonsense and deserves to be called out. End rant.
  9. And don't forget Beijing 2008 and Russia 2014. What's next, having the Olympics in Tehran to promote "engagement"? Not rewarding despotic regimes should rank much higher on the priority list of the IOC than what a goaltender puts on his/her own mask.
  10. They are still ruining their credibility by posting it on their web site. That implies endorsement of these "findings".
  11. What a crock of crap! College Hockey, Inc. is ruining their credibility with garbage like this.
  12. I am with you on leaving the team mid-season, that was totally immature and bush-league. As for the CHL being "the top developmental league in the world", there is some truth to that statement. What most people on this forum have a problem with are the sleazy, below the belt tactics the CHL uses (promising stuff they can't deliver, bad-mouthing College Hockey using half-truths and outright lies, under-the-table cash payments, having their NHL puppet-masters put pressure on college players to head up north). The truth is, there are no "fast tracks" to the NHL. Whichever path you choose, you will have to work hard and sacrifice for the team; two things that Tamboleavi didn't want to do in Grand Forks. Like I have said before, is he going to complain about playing time in the ECHL, AHL or NHL? That won't get him anywhere at the professional level; they'll just tell him to pack his bags and get out. Some kids are better off in the NCAA and some kids are better off in the CHL. I just think people on this forum get sick of the CHL promoting itself as the end-all and be-all of hockey in North America. It simply isn't true and the propagandists that promote that garbage know it.
  13. Just like most of what comes out of Don Cherry's mouth.
  14. Yeah, you are right. I think Tibesar will get hired by someone before the 2014 campaign starts.
  15. The NFL is more fickle than college. You have the salary cap, free agency, neurotic owners and general managers looking for a scapegoat when things go wrong. It is tougher to sustain long-term success in the NFL than it is in college.
  16. Yes he is and I agree with him. College coaches that win have much more job security than NFL coaches (head or otherwise).
  17. We are looking at a severe Blizzard late Wednesday night into Thursday. Travel will be almost impossible on Thursday: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/wxstory.php?site=fgf Take care everyone.
  18. Despite his allegiance to Minnesota's Arrogance on Ice, it's a shame that a real advocate of college hockey is unemployed and not giving college hockey a much-needed voice on the airwaves. I hope he lands on his feet soon.
  19. Even so, it's awesome that one of our teams is even being talked about by ESPN in the context of the NCAA Tournament.
  20. I hope you are right, but with the large number of players leaving the program it might take longer than we would like. It's possible we could make the playoffs in a couple of years, but I think it will take a little longer to win some games once we get there. I am taking a long-term view of this, not short-term. One step at a time.
  21. I am as anxious as you are to get this program back to what it once was. But we need to be patient about this. Bubba has a lot of work ahead of him and I don't think 2014 will feature a lot of wins. In a couple of years, I think we'll have a winning program again and in five years I expect us to be in the playoffs. All in good time my friend. All in good time.
  22. At-large bid? Highly unlikely. But I like your thinking. This team works hard and hustles and that makes them fun to watch. Brewster has them playing really well right now.
  23. Yeah, some things are just so drilled into us we can't stop doing them. I actually feel naked without my watch on; I'll look at my left wrist to check the time and it's really annoying when it isn't there!
  24. Easy boys, we are all on the same team here! I think next season will be more about improvement from week to week, work ethic, attitude....all the intangibles that have been missing from this program for so long. We won't win a lot of games, but we will make our opponents earn whatever they get. That should help set the stage for the future.
