  1. Where it belongs......
  2. Never, EVER, say Never:
  3. I welcome this match-up. We'll get to send their precious "diaper dandies" out of college hockey in style with a loss in Fargo!
  4. If eastern refs are still the eastern refs I remember from past tournaments, Duluth will be facing 5x3 penalty kills for half the game. And it will cost them their season.
  5. Hard to believe that when Blais took over in Grand Forks in 1994, his right-hand man was Sandelin. Together, they rebuilt a fallen dynasty and make the eventual construction of the current version of REA possible in 2001. And when Duluth hired him away to replace Mike Sertich in 2000 after winning our 7th NCAA title, we were sad to see him go. Now he's no different than any of the other toolboxes in this sport that we have deal with on a regular basis. Sad when you think about it.
  6. UMD must have watched "Slap Shot" last night before bedtime.
  7. You mean when Andy Kollar got tackled in the crease while one of their other players shot it into the empty net in OT? After Travis Roche tied it with 11 seconds remaining in regulation? And the comeback was started by St. Cloud's goalie scoring on himself? Yeah, I was there for that. It was the first Final Five in the then brand new Xcel Energy Center (2001). And yes, I am still bitter about it!
  8. I hope they enjoy their "championship". Next week, we'll get a chance to defend our NCAA title.
  9. I have nothing against Ohio State. Boston College, on the other hand......
  10. Good riddance cake eaters!
  11. It would be nice to add another year to that conference tournament title banner in REA. But if not, we are still in the hunt for the title that really matters. #drivefornine
  12. Air Force Boston College Harvard Penn State Michigan Tech UM-Duluth
  13. Just how much time do they spend in practice on free throws? How much time do most teams spend on them? I think they are the most overlooked, but important, aspect of the game.
  14. Let's not have this deteriorate into a hockey vs. everything else argument. Let's just enjoy the success our teams are having.
  15. The Lamoureux twins have jobs. So do many of the other women's players who are no longer in college. Please show a little more respect for the women who have put USA women's hockey on the map. And I haven't heard anybody on the women's international team claim it is their "right" to play for their country. They are simply trying to make it easier for them to be able to play in international tournaments while still hanging onto their full-time jobs. Simply put, if we don't have the best players, we won't have much success in international tournaments (especially against the Canadians). And if anyone on here thinks we can simply replace our best players and get the exact same results, they are simply deluding themselves. There probably is room for compromise and negotiation here, but USA Hockey has basically refused to even have a conversation about it. That is why these women (who work harder than most of us on this forum) are doing this. They know they are sacrificing a chance to play for their country and they are willing to make that sacrifice. That doesn't sound like "entitlement" to me.
  16. Hey, we haven't heard from you in awhile. Welcome back.
  17. I know the IOC is corrupt to the core, as is International soccer. I certainly hope USA Hockey is not.
  18. He retired a long time ago (2004 I think).
  19. I don't know what they do north of the border. They probably pay whatever it takes to keep their best players on the team. They are fanatical about hockey up there. If their teams don't win on the international stage, heads will roll.
  20. If you don't have the best athletes your country has to offer, you are going to struggle. If athletes cannot afford to take time off to play in international competition, they simply won't play. There is no getting around those two things.
  21. And I am saying that is a bad idea. The Olympics are supposed to be for amateurs.
  22. I also don't like politics contaminating my sports coverage, but I haven't seen any political nonsense in Schlossman's articles. When he covers UND hockey, he covers UND hockey. I don't care what he does on his personal social media accounts on his own time. And I think interjecting politics into this thread is a violation of forum guidelines.
  23. Fine. But if the women decide to "deal with it" by walking and not playing, will you be on here b!tching about the United States performing poorly in international competition?
