ND High School Hockey 16-17

Okay, that makes sense. -
Not a perfect comparison. I think Big Sky MBB is stronger than Great West FB.

How can you have more quality scoring chances (8) than SOG (6)? -

I agree with you. -

A was good enough for T.J. Oshie and Brock Nelson. The AA hockey snobs in the Cities are the same people who think the Gophers should stick with an all-Minnesota team and that UND has 25 year old Canadians. -

Looks like the Knights are firing on all cylinders. -

Or compete separately as A teams. -
It's called sarcasm.

First of all, he hasn't won anything yet. Anything less than a trip to The Dance (no, the CIT doesn't count) should not be sufficient to save his job. Second of all, I want him to succeed because I want the program to succeed. If this team gets to The Dance, Jones should get a contract extension.

It is an inconvenient truth. We all knew a year like this was going to happen at some point.
-
Oh, I'll support them no matter what. I just don't want to get my hopes up.
-
Well, teams dominated by freshmen and sophomores are generally inconsistent. We have seen this team look like world-beaters one weekend and then lose to teams like Michigan State the next.
-
But it isn't like beating them during their 3 titles in 5 years stretch (2008-2012). I think Duluth and Denver are the class of the NCAA this year (with Harvard not far behind) and that is in part because they didn't lose as much to graduation and early signings as we did.

I think Class B fans will go wherever their teams go. I still like the idea of upgrading Purpur Arena and having it there. You could use Gambucci Arena for some of the girls games. I absolutely am not buying the idea that Grand Forks cannot support anything other than State Tennis. The Heraldo hit the nail on the head with their editorial in today's paper: http://www.grandforksherald.com/opinion/our-opinion/4221869-editorial-grand-forks-fight-hard-sports-tournaments I don't always agree with the Heraldo, but they are 100% right about this. -
I will argue the almighty Boston College Eagles are not what they were 5 years ago.

REA has brought in some good shows over its 15+ years in existence.

Based on this logic, every single tournament should be there. Even the Boy's Class B. If you wanted to start a civil war between the east and west, taking the Boy's Class B tournament away from Bismarck and giving it to Fargo would probably do it. -
Last year's team was rarely "snakebit", if at all. This year's team is "snakebit" on a weekly basis. The difference between last year and this year? Nine of the best players in the game. Without them, we are trying to get the job done with a bunch of sophomores who weren't asked to do much last year and a bunch of freshmen who are still learning how to win at this level. A team that wins an NCAA title one year often struggles the next. It happened to Boston College in 2009 and it is happening to us this year. Chalk it up to a rebuilding year and look forward to better things come October 2017.

NDUS Budget Cuts (changed name to be system-wide)
fightingsioux4life replied to Cratter's topic in Community
Sports, sports, sports, sports, sports!!! We don't care that much about sports here, what do you think of THAT? -
Then the process remains a joke.
-
I am sick and tired of hearing that WH is off the table. The numbers scream for it to be at least considered for cutting. Otherwise, this whole process is a joke.
-
I was including WH in my proposed cuts. As for men's golf, I am skeptical if they can continue to self-fund. I predict they will fold in a few years. I suppose we could go all the way down to 14.
-
True. But this is an excellent opportunity to reduce our athletic offerings from 20 to 16, thereby freeing up some resources to reinvest into our core programs (MH, FB, WBB, MBB). This is the perfect time to do this. If we wait until financial times are more prosperous, it will be harder to justify cutting any sport for any reason.

Actually, McFeely has been very harsh with NDSU over the years. It got to the point where Craig Bohl refused to come on with him because of some things he said on the radio.
