  1. Hey, even a broken clock is right twice a day!
  2. I like your style.
  3. How about this: We sign a home and home with Nicholls State. And when they get here for the game in Grand Forks, the visitor locker rooms at the Alerus Center are "closed for renovation" and have a couple of tents outside for them to use as locker rooms. #paybacksaretough
  4. Correct. First things first.
  5. Agree with both of these comments. This team will not score a ton of points. They'll have to play lights-out defense, rebound well and cut down on the turnovers. Once Sather gets his own recruits on the team, we'll be able to judge him more impartially.
  6. Okay, I'll take the bait. No, this is not a "must sweep". If we split this coming weekend and the weekend after that vs. Western Michigan, I will consider both of them positive weekends. Both of these arenas are tough places to play. Although I really hope we can sweep the dirty rodents in their place!
  7. Nope, our biggest failure is getting blown out on the road by a bad Idaho State team. We win that game, we are 8-3 and in much better position.
  8. I think that would have been most people's reactions no matter who they picked. People simply do not trust the process.
  9. I disagree. League points are precious and hard to win. A loss this weekend will bite us in the backside come March when we are (hopefully) fighting for the Penrose Cup.
  10. You have to win your conference home games, because conference road games are tough to win and you will rarely sweep on the road. Must sweep this weekend.
  11. Exactly. Let's see what happens the next several years and we'll have an idea if Sather is the long-term solution or not.
  12. Mr. Bang for your Buck loved Jones and wanted him to stick around forever. Don't pay any attention to this poster.
  13. Mike Berg was saying this during the Northern Colorado game. Step on the throat of teams when you get them down. Get a killer instinct. Make a statement to the playoff committee that this team would be a tough out in the playoffs if selected. He was really upset that we didn't punch it into the end zone at the end of the game after forcing the turnover instead of taking a knee. I must say I agreed with all of it.
  14. So the fact that former FCS schools like Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State are now in FBS has nothing to do with this? The only schools NDSU has to worry about right now are South Dakota State, James Madison and maybe Villanova. In Division I hockey, even the worst of the bottom-feeder teams can beat you if you are not sharp. A lot of FCS football schools are Division I for Men's Basketball purposes and don't put much into their FB programs. NDSU is an exception to that. And I wish UND would become another exception to that. The best way to check NDSU's power in FB is to build a perennial playoff program and offer recruits another option to consider. And that starts with hiring a strong UND President that recognizes that athletics are the "front porch" of any university. Until that happens, it will be more of the same. And that makes me want to throw up.
  15. I think Sather is going to take this program places it has never been.
  16. I want nothing to do with the Sid Hartman Hockey Conference (he's the one who agitated for it for years before it happened). Maybe you are okay with having Tuesday night games on the Almighty BTN, but I am not. The NCHC is the SEC of college hockey. The Little 7 is not even close.
  17. While I share your frustration with UND athletics at the moment (I have compared our athletic department to a high school more than once), I don't think anything is gained by us missing the playoffs. The only way we will turn this program around is by making the playoffs and winning games once we are there. And while Bubba is a bit too loyal to his assistants regardless of the results or lack thereof, I believe the real problem is the lack of resources our coaches and athletes have to work with, which make it very difficult to compete in Division I. Criticism is fine, I believe it is essential to being a loyal supporter of our favorite higher ed institution. But rooting for us to fail is just bad form.
  18. Real-life example or it never happened.
  19. Big off-season losses. We can relate to that, right?
  20. I heard that bees abandoned their hives in late September or early October. That seems a little early for them to do that. I think this might be a harsh winter.
  21. It's all about keeping more of the gate! Didn't you get the memo? (sarcasm) #pennywisepoundfoolish
  22. I second that.
  23. Sort of? It's high schoolish weak.
  24. You are missing the point entirely. I was taking shots at the hockey-only crowd who thinks helping other UND programs be successful will somehow "hurt" hockey. That was the point of the post.
  25. I think the more they are immersed in the system, the better they will get at it.
