This reminds me of when Peter Pocklington traded Gretzky to the Los Angeles Kings. He was surprised by the uproar it caused and he didn't like the heat he was getting. So he started blaming everyone else. First he said Gretzky asked for the trade. Wayne said he did not. Then he goes after Gretzky's wife, saying she didn't want to live in Edmonton and pushed for the trade. Anyone who watched the 30 for 30 documentary King's Ransom knows that Pocklington was mulling this trade over for several years before it happened. If you want to trade the best player on the planet, that is fine. But you need to own your decision and be able to defend it. Don't go looking for scapegoats to blame when it blows up in your face. I absolutely hate it when people do that.
