  1. Well, looking at how both teams of done the past couple seasons, both fan bases could benefit from drowning their sorrows in a few cold ones.
  2. However he has run an offence before as a QB. Also without looking at every OC in college and in the NFL, I would guess that there are many OC's that were previously QB coaches. QB to QB coach to Offensive Coordinator is a natural transition and many that have gone that route have succeeded.
  3. Well....the Mooch just got slightly better!! https://www.kare11.com/article/sports/u-of-m-alcohol-sales-approved-at-select-sports-venues/89-9d43d5cd-db82-4558-9f69-bb9fcd668431 U of M alcohol sales approved at select sports venues Starting with the upcoming 2019-20 athletic seasons fans will be able to purchase beer and wine from all seating areas at both 3M Arena at Mariucci for hockey games and Williams Arena for basketball games.
  4. First year OC. Needs at least a year to get his feet wet!
  5. Well, If Massey Ratings mean anything to you, here is how they predicted UND's chances of winning each game this season. UND is favored in only 3 games (well actually 4 because they didn't predict the Drake game but UND is likely predicted to win that one. That being said, of the other 7 games where their changes of winning is less that 50%, UND is within 7 points or less in 4 or those games for the score predictor. So per the Massey predictor, we are favored or within 1 score of 8 opponents this year. Massey is yet another ranking, so take it with a grain of salt. But 8 wins is certainly not out of the question. (But neither is 4 I guess too).
  6. Until next year, and the year after that, and the year after that!! This is the world we live in now.
  7. 7 wins this year and every year after that gets us in the playoffs in most scenarios given our SOS this year and in the MVFC moving forward. That should be the bare minimum expectations for UND every year. Anything less than making the playoffs for this program should be considered an disappointment.
  8. 2019 North Dakota Football ScheduleAug. 31 DRAKE Sept. 7 at North Dakota StateSept. 14 SAM HOUSTON STATESept. 28 at Eastern WashingtonOct. 5 UC DAVISOct. 12 at Idaho StateOct. 19 at Cal PolyOct. 26 MONTANA STATENov. 9 at Weber StateNov. 16 NORTHERN COLORADONov. 23 SOUTHERN UTAH Looking at the 2019 scheulde, I have come to realize how brutal it really is. If success from last year carries over to this year, it's going to be a gauntlet. UND plays 5 playoff teams from last year. (NDSU, EWU, UC Davis, Montana St., and Weber St.) Of those 5 teams, 4 were seeded teams. We play 3 of those 2018 seeded teams on the road. Oh and those 3 road games (NDSU, EWU and Weber) those teams were also the top 3 seeded teams in last years playoffs not to mention the two teams that played in the National Championship game. So yeah , I'd say UND has a pretty tough schedule.
  9. Whoever scores the first goal in game 7 wins the series. Blues just can't seem to come back when they get behind. It's amazing how many goals the Bruins are scoring in their wins. Once they get rolling, they are near impossible to stop. A 2 goal lead may be almost insurmountable for St Louis. Especially in Boston.
  10. He was so under utilized last year it was ridiculous. Should have been the second back behind Brady with McKinney right behind him. Santiago should have been moved back to a slot receiver. I am fairly confident Danny can make better decisions on where to use guys than Rudy did.
  11. Rule changes for 2019-2020 Season https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2019-06-05/mens-college-basketball-3-point-line-extended-international 3-point line moving back to the international distance of 22' 1/34" Shot clock reset at 20 seconds (instead of 30) after a field-goal attempt hits the rim and the offensive team rebounds the ball in the front court. Coaches allowed to live-ball timeouts in the final two minutes of games. (previously weren't allowed to).
  12. All of us fans of UND are upset with the process of selecting the new nickname and the selection of the logo. Not just the #SiouxForever crowd. Compaining about the process was justified and a shared view of all of us. The name is here to stay. the current logo is what it is. Will it be the logo 50 years from now? Likely not. So for all that like the current Fighting Hawks logo or are at least ok with it, great. For those that aren't a big fan or those that absolutely hate it, be patient. As we have seen, Teams, Universities, etc change or adopt secondary logos all the time.
  13. You really think that? I think these are all worse than our current logo. The Brien one being the absolute worse.
  14. Two UND basketball players could be transferring out https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/basketball/1358259-Two-UND-basketball-players-could-be-transferring-out
  15. He gets it. "I think this story sums up college hockey in its truest sense: community. Looking back I realize college hockey isn’t really about going to class, tests, games, teachers, wins or losses at all. It’s about people. Relationships built with people that make a campus, dorm or classroom, not only a place to learn, but a home"
  16. Can Chaves hire the next UND President as well?!!
  17. Did you see his childish tweet about he has had no access to Sather since he was announced the head coach yet he had time to make videos with UND Insider? Prettyy pathetic.
  18. Here is the 2019-2020 roster listed on NSU's website. Will be interesting if anyone comes with Sather. # NAME POS. HT. WT. YR. HOMETOWN HIGH SCHOOL PREVIOUS SCHOOL 2 Mason Stark G 6-2 160 So. 19. Sather named head men's basketball coachhttps://fightinghawks.com/news/2019/5/30/sather-named-head-mens-basketball-coach.aspx
  20. Which brings up the questing...Will UND play for any rivalry trophies in the MVFC with NDSU, USD, or SDSU?!
  21. So will the Sitting Bull trophy be up for grabs in 2020? UND360 seems to think so. Obviously it wasn't [played for in 2016 and 2017, but will they resurrect the trophy when they are back in the same conference? In this day and age, would UND even consider it?
  22. Here are the issues that all UND fans have been UNITED on during this whole nickname debate: 1. All of us UND fans wanted to keep the Fighting Sioux name initially when the "hostile and abusive" list of colleges came out in 2005. Once the timeline from the settlement for tribal approval passed, many people realized that it was probably in the best interest of UND to retire the name. When comments from the Summit League Commissioner as well as the Big Sky commissioner came out about future and current conference membership came out, even more people jumped on board with retiring the name. When schools like Minnesota, Wisconsin, and a growing list of others changed their policy to not play any games (outside of conference games) against teams with Native American mascots, even more people jumped on board with retiring the name. When the NCAA said that UND could not host post season tournament games on campus, then people realized that that would hurt our programs especially the football team and realized retiring the name was what had to be done. And then when the vote was held to retire the name, the numbers came out 67% in favor or retiring the name. the problem is after all that, there are still people out there that still feel that UND should have sacrificed all and dealt with all the consequences to keep the name. 2. All of us UND fans agree that the process of selecting the new nickname was a complete $hitshow. We were all pissed about the whole process of narrowing the submitted names down. The selection committee didn't even follow their own basic requirements for selecting a name. Being unique, relate specifically to North Dakota and the region, etc. Fighting Hawks should have been weeded out well before the list was narrowed down to 5 to vote on. But it wasn't. We all agree that this process could have not gone any worse (I guess we could have been Sundogs : ) The 5 names that were finally voted for were less than impressive and (as said many timed) given a list of things to vote on, people will select the most generic one. And we ended up with fighting Hawks. Fighting Hawks was definitely less than inspiring for a new nickname and certainly many people voted against it (myself included). Most of us can agree that Fighting Hawks is not a great nickname. It is generic, boring, and falls right into the trend of schools that had to change their name of selecting a bird mascot. Even when teh name was announced, the overwhelming majority of the fanbase kind of shrugged their shoulders and said OK. 3. The logo could have been better With a generic name like Hawks, it was going to be hard to come up with a truly unique logo that people were going to be blown away by. there are hundreds of bird logos out there. So while the fighting Hawks logo is not as generic as those others, initially many people were pretty negative towards it. Even people that now support the Fighting Hawks log and wear it proudly today were less than impressed at the logo when it came out. *You can see that our fanbase was united throughout this whole nickname and logo debate and selection process. We all were on the same page regarding the whole process. Where it came divided was how we moved on from that. The fanbase became divided into two categories. Those that accepted the reality the Sioux nickname and logo were never coming back and that were going to accept the new nickname and logo even thought the process of selecting both could certainly have been better, and those that refuse to accept any nickname and logo not matter what it was. So our fanbase is currently divided between those that support the Fighting Hawks name/logo and those that reject the Fighting Hawks name/logo. Now there are many that say "What's the big deal. Let people cheer for whatever name they want. We are all cheering for North Dakota." I admit, I was one of those people. But even I didn't think that this division would be do divisive as it is today. And social media certainly is perpetuating the division. So the divide is real. And I don't see it going away anytime in the near future. It can be easily solved. Obviously we can't go back top the Fighting Sioux name so the only way to end the division is to unite and support the Fighting Hawks name and logo. So when people say that it's not fair to place blame only on one side, that is not true. The fans that continue to perpetuate the division by constantly ripping on the Fighting Hawks name/logo and refuse to accept the Fighting Sioux name is gone will eb the ones that keep this fanbase from uniting ***NOTE: Sorry for the lengthy post.
  23. Why does it matter? Because it is dividing the fanbase. That's not just an opinion. And the blame rests on the #Siouxforever crowd, the REA, and many of the hockey only fanbase that refuse to accept the fact the Sioux name is gone and never coming back.
  24. St Thomas isn't going D2. They are in great position to move straight to D1. Summit League for all sports, Pioneer League for football (if they want to still have it). Not trying to make crazy SiouxVolley type predictions, but I really believe that this is their plan.
  25. Putting the "lamp" underneath the scoreboard is not going to look good IMO. I'm not talking about that it will have the retired Fighting Sioux logo on it. I'm talking about that it is going to look awkward. Not to mention blocking the view of the underneath screens. Looking at the mock up pic, it already looks weird.
