Can we just get an 8 team playoff where none of the playoff games are Bowl games?!!!
-
SO while watching the post game last night after the Bama/OSU game, I noticed something that I think needs to be changed. Now I get it that Ohio State won the Sugar Bowl, but do they need to have confetti flying, a game MVP, trophy presentation, hats, shirts, etc when they won was actually a semifinal game? Their end goal is still to win 1 more game in the National Championship. But the post game shenanigans were just a bit over the top for a semifinal game.

http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/education/3644760-nickname-task-force-extends-deadline The interesting quote in this article is.. "Depending on how many names the committee is able to eliminate, another round or two of voting could occur before the committee chooses the permanent name from a list of no more than five possibilities. The group will take the public's ranking of those five possibilities into account." I sure hope they take them into consideration. You would think that if there was an overwhelming majority for 1 name that they would pick one. I really hope that all of us as "stakeholders" can rally around 1 name so their will be no doubt to this committee what name should be selected.

Figured this would be a good place to put this. Can't believe no one has brought this up yet!! http://thetandd.com/sports/report-meac-to-pull-out-of-fcs-playoffs-to-compete/article_b528d464-907c-11e4-9b0b-1f350b5d41a4.html

I would have to agree that this play, game, moment were one of the best in UND sports history. I was lucky enough to be in Florence at the game. I remember looking at our group that drove down after GVSU scored late to take the lead and saying that this was going to be a long drive home if we lose! That play was just simply amazing. I remember thinking they scored on that play and was wondering why they were lining up for 2 and by the time I realized that they weren't in yet for the TD, Jed was turing the corner and running into the endzone. I remember the scene on the field after the game. Everyone was hugging everyone!! It is by far my greatest sport memory and its not even close. (Side note....taking a detour on the way back through the NDSU campus driving around with my Sioux flag out the window and cheering at every person I saw walking on the sidewalk was pretty cook too!!)

This a must win. Can't lose to the Cats wither time we play them. Need to win these very winnable games. If nothing else to give this team some confidense. Been a while since they won a game!!

Yeah, I think they much rather prefer live mascots depicting Native Americans that are played by a white man, wearing face paint, riding a horse and throwing a spear, and leading fans in a tomohawk chop!!
-
I don't think you can do that. When deciding a name, the powers that be will have to decide if they want to choose a name where a mascot could be created. Obviously many scools have mascots. They are fun for the kids, and entertain the fans, as well as make appearences throughout the community. When coming up with a new name, they will absolutely have to factor in the issue of a mascot.

What baffles me is there are people, many on this board, who think that if the committee narrows the list down to 2 or three names, that Kelley is going to just pick one of his own. There is zer chance that is going to happen. Many people think this committee to decide the process is all a front and Kelley will do whatever he wants. Why would he do that? Why waste the time of thousands of alumni filling out surveys, having townhall meetings, and having hours upon hours coming up with a process and then even more time deciding a new name and implementing it if Kelley is just going to pick one? Do you think that he wants that to be his legacy at UND? To pick a new name that nobody wants? Come on people! Just let the process fo through and see what comes up.

Any time you can develope a 7 footer to a solid rebounder and someoune who can shoot outside shots, that adds a lot to the team. Whether Shanks can consistently do that over his career here is the big question mark. We need a guy who can be our Windex man and grab rebounds, especially offensive. Agreed way to early to tell, but he has the potential to fill a need for us. Side note, who was the last 7 footer to play for UND?
-
Zero Chance they will joing the WCHA. They're re not going to make the investment to add D1 hockey and be in a conference with the likes of Ferris State, Alabama Huntsville, and a couple Alaska schools. The B10 could add them, but that is a long shot. I think Fenton knows that the NCHC is secretly where they want to land, at least for the time being until a PAC12 conference is formed (if ever).

46-28 they out rebounded us. That is pathetic!

Can Nash take any worse shots? He is inder the basket and tries to shoot these rediculous bank shots. They either miss horribly or they get blocked!! Also, he commits way too many charging fouls. Nash may be the most athletic player on our team, but he is far from the best.

Whoop di frickin do. Do you want a medal or something? With all due respect, we all could care less about the jobs you have interviewed for and have gotten.

I guess Bubba should be showing this little nugget!! http://wallethub.com/edu/best-worst-college-cities-and-towns-in-america/8974/

They do have nice facilities, but their one recruiting disadvantage.....you have to live in Brookings, SD!!
-
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that UND is the only school at the FCS level that has a chartered plane for their football team to every away game. So as much as our friends to the south want to rip on the Big Sky for the amount of travel, that is a pretty significant perk.
-
Calvary or Cavalry??? I suppose they both sound the same after 3 or 4 at "the bar."!!
-
Wait, let me get this straight. You are on a UND fan message board making posts and you are telling us to focus on our own team??!! We are focusing on our team. But news flashm UND is not playing college football anymore this season. This thread's topic is "2014 FCF Playoffs." When your team is not in it, of course we are going to be talking about other teams!! Does this make sense to you? Oh wait.....just realized that your moniker is 2011BisonAlumni!! Now it makes sense to me why you don't get it!!

While talking to a Bison fan in my family, I had to listen about how the Bison will have yet another nationally televised game on ESPN and how much of a recruiting advantage that is. Which got me thinking, how much of a recruiting advantage is it? Obviously having national exposure will help get the word out about a school and they are going to be seen as a successful program since they are in the playoffs and playing on ESPN. But are high school kids and FBS transfers surfing the TV stations on a Friday or Saturday to see what FCS schools are playing on TV when making their decision to where they will go to school and play college football? There are many factors that go into a kids decision on where to play college football. National exposure is a big one, but it is not the only one and maybe not necessarily the most important. These recruits look at all sorts of variables. Coaching staff, facilities, college campus, programs that they could major in, location. All these things come into play when picking a college. So while playing a game on national television will deffinitely send a message to recruits that you are a successful program, but I don't think it is the end all decision maker for a kid picking where to play college football. So what is the biggest recruiting advantage that coaches use?
