  1. A new on campus stadium was a long shot 3 years ago before all of these budget issues. If you think that building a 100+ million dollar stadium is a priority for UND right now, you are insane!!

  3. FYP
  4. Lunchtime drinking game: Every time theses words are mentioned: little girls dreams - 1 drink Olympians - 2 drinks #neverendthefight - 2 drinks Title IV - 2 drinks Lamoureaux - 3 drinks 1.9 Million dollar cost - Finish the case (should be safe here)
  5. Yes the way the players found out that the program was being cut would have been handled a lot better. They could have notified them right away in the morning, made a statement, and then say there would be a press conference later in the day. That being said, it doesn't change the fact that the program will still be cut. Sure it was a crappy way to find out. But that's life sometimes. It's not always fair. Everything in your life doesn't always go according to plan and happen they way they should. Welcome to the real world.
  6. You're right!! Why didn't anyone else think of that!! I think you are on too something!!
  7. Horizon schools adding D1 hockey? Never gonna happen. UND getting an invite to join the Horizon League? Never gonna happen.

  9. Seriously guys, take your lovers quarrel to PM!!
  10. Can you imagine instead of Jones bringing in recruits and taking them to a packed out Ralph for a hockey game, he brings them to a packed out Ralph for a UND basketball game against NDSU?!! Much more effective!
  11. The Lammy twins are big girls. I think they can take some criticism. I doubt they read this message board, so you can be rest assured that their feelings are't being hurt.
  12. Right. But that was back in October. When UND announced that they were moving to the Summit/MVFC, that changed everything. Meaning that sports previously stated that were off the table (including womens hockey) would be vulnerable again. I guess I figured since people on message boards could see that womens hockey was vulnerable, I assumed that the head coach of the program could see it as well. My bad to assume that.
  13. They will cut mens hockey at UND before Schloss admits that womens hockey wasn't propular at UND.

  15. I don't know ho USA hockey is going to do this. Potentially you could have a team with both NHL guys that have been in the league for years playing with 19-20 year old kids who are jsut a couple years removed from high school or juniors!! Will definitely be an interesting dynamic!
  16. http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/4245071-womens-hockey-cut-mishandled-students-say Anthony Rice, a UND freshman, said he understood the university’s budgets were tight, but thought the loss of the team had happened too abruptly. “They didn’t expect to see it coming and there was no forewarning,” Talk of sports being cut has been going on for almost a year. Even when initial cuts were done last summer, I think everyone knew there would be more. One thing that really bugs me about the womens hockey team especially being cut is how completely oblivious they were to the potential of their program being cut. At very least in January when Kennedy announced that more sports were to be cut in March, Idalski needed to bring this to his players and tell them that losing womens hockey at UND was a possibility. They narrowly survived the initial cuts last summer, and were top of the list for these cuts. Judging by the shock from the players, he obviously didn't share that info with the players. Idalski knew that there was a good chance womens hockey would be cut. Not preparing his players for that scenario is is fault.
  17. Hashtags, "protests", social media outrage.....all those things don't pay the bills.
  18. Be sure to watch "One Shining Moment" after the Championship game tonight. They always show at least one clip from every team that makes the tournament. So UND will be represented, at least for a couple seconds more!!
  19. The response...
  20. Pay for each member of our team to get $70,000 a year to play in one tournament a year, buy our clothing line so our family can get a free trip to the Olympics, fund our alma mater hockey team that costs 2 million dollars a year......It's getting old.
  21. The new "Q" at UND!!
  22. Kennedy should just respond that if the womens hockey team wants to still be around, they are going to have to be privately funded like the golf team is doing. Give them the dollar value that they will need to come up with, and see what they can do. Of course, you can't expect to fund a program on a year to year basis, so they will need to develop a long term endowment plan so it can be sustained long term. Just like what was proposed to the golf team. If they can raise the millions of dollars needed to afford the program next year and for years in the future, then more power to them. The program is saved! Reality will set in when they see the actual hard numbers. This is a great way for Kennedy and Faison to respond and give the actual dollar amounts needed. I would be willing to bet 75% of the people taking to social media don't know the amount of money that is required to sustain the program.
  23. Having the Bison games at the Ralph starting in 2018-2019 would be a great start. sure the previous games at the Ralph were big games, but conference games that actually mean something are going to add even more hype to the game. I say start out with the Bison games and then go from there. Maybe the USD and SDSU games will eventually be played there as well. Heck, If we have continued success and increased crowds, who's to say we can't have all games in the Ralph and have 7000+ at every game!! No one ever thought that there would be 11,000+ for hockey games and look what happened there?!! A couple more conference Championships and trips to the Big Dance, and basketball may be the hot ticket in town!! Why not?!!
  24. Not sure if the dust has officially settled yet from last Wednesdays announcement, but it is probably time to get Jones signed for an extension. The cut mre than they had to to reinvest in other programs. Men's basketball being one of them. I would think Jones is set to get a pretty good pay bump. $150,000 base with pay increases every year (similar to what Bubba got) as well as increases for his assistants is not out of the question. I would think we would see something this week, but who knows. they may wait till the dust has settled even more. Still needs to get done sooner or later.
  25. Breaking News: The Av's suck. They need all the help they can get. Jost will be playing in Colorado all next year.
