  1. The one thing that these "Sioux Forever" fans have to realize is it's not going to be forever. Obviously right now the name is new so there is not a lot of history with it. But eventually it will. There will be a time where every current UND student weren't even alive when UND was known as the Fighting Sioux. Do you think they will be joining in with the "old people" that are chanting "Sioux Forever" at games? No. They will be die hard Fighting Hawks fans because that is the name they grew up with. Sure they will know the history of the Fighting Sioux name, but they won't have any attachment to it. Fans now may be, lie you said, "sticking it to the NCAA" but that is eventually going to dwindle. The more time passes, the less and less you will hear that chant, and the more you will see Fighting Hawks clothing and hear Fighting HAwks cheers at games (Yes even hockey games).
  2. FOCC (Fly Over Country Conference)
  3. Also a problem that arises is it leaves the Big Sky only 8 schools (PSU, ISU, UC-Davis, Cal Poly, Sac St, SUU, NAU, and WSU) and only 6 for all other sports besides football. But I guess that wouldn't be the Summit Leagues problem!!
  4. I like option 2. Looking at the map, it doesn't look that bad. Good travel partners available.
  5. But then doesn't that increase our travel costs again and get UND right back to where they started and the main reason they left the Big SKy?!!
  6. UND is not staying in the Big Sky. Costs too much and there is a tight budget. Mankato, St Cloud, and Duluth are all D2 schools. None of them have talked about moving to D1. How are they supposed to join the Summit?!! So you just throw random stuff out here to get people to bite or are you actually coming up with these things in your head and thinking that it has a chance to actually happen?!!
  7. So with 4 players now, with more to come, leaving the program....is this issue over now? YOu would think if there was any chance of a Title IX lawsuit being successful, the players would certainly stick around. Good for the players that see the writing on the wall and accept reality. UND womens hockey may not longer be around, but they still have the opportunity to continue their playing career and education elsewhere.
  8. Their solution is to force officials to cave to (supposed) moral outcry in the name of gender equality. Worked with USA hockey, why not try the same strategy with UND I guess.
  9. If you don't want to get ripped on, quit making false claims and false accusations. That being said, I don't think any Lamoureux family member is getting too offended by comments made towards them on a message board.
  10. Didn't go to a class B school, but curious what other Co-op schools do.
  11. As most things go in regards to social media outrage, people have already moved on from this story and focused their aggression on their next social injustice battle the need to fight..
  12. Central Valley School Board votes to repaint its floor without sports co-op’s Burros logo http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/4255542-central-valley-school-board-votes-repaint-its-floor-without-sports-co-ops-burros-logo
  13. He had to have known something in January when the announcement was made that there would be more cuts. The dollar amount was out there of how much UND needed to cut from it's athletic program. There was no other option to cut as much as they did and stay above the required amount of sports required for Division 1. The womens hockey team was not one of the potential teams that were on the chopping block in the first round of cuts last year. But that all changes in January. Idalski assuming that his program was still safe is either ignorant on his part for not realizing it, or irresponsible on his part for seeing the high probability of it actually happening.
  14. So would Murray St join the MVFC as well? Would be hard to think that the Ohio Valley would keep them as an affiliate member just for football.
  15. I have always said that much of the "shock factor" shown by the players was a lot Idalski's fault for not preparing his players for the possibility that their program might be cut. Heck, if a bunch of idiots on a fan message board saw it coming a year ago, you'd think the head coach would maybe have an idea what is going on!!
  16. How dare you bring facts in and ruin a good argument!!
  17. There you go. I like it!!
  18. I get what you are saying. But if you kept the schedule the same and just put it into two regionals, you would have to play 4 games the first day, 6 games the second day, and 2 games the 3rd day. I realize that it requires additional days for teams/fans to be at the regional, but it is similar to the Frozen 4. It could also be an alternative to going to the Frozen Four as ticket would maybe be easier to get and you have the opportunity to see more teams and games. * teams/fans booking flights to a location could be an issue. But that is why you would have the regionals in major markets that have the capability of handling that.
  19. Was there really much there to begin with?!! Not a rip on SiouxVolley personally, but the majority of things he has predicted would happen have not even come close.
  20. The idea of 2 "Super Regionals" has always intrigued me. Have 2 regions, East and West. Host arenas will be good size arena's, maybe even NHL arenas if need be. 8 teams would be in each region of course. Basically combine 2 regions into one , have 2 groups per region with the following schedule: WEST REGION Group A #1 v #4 - Thursday afternoon Group A Championship - Saturday #2 v #3 - Thursday evening Group B #1 v #4 - Friday afternoon Group B Championship - Sunday #2 v #3 - Friday evening EAST REGION Group A #1 v #4 - Thursday afternoon Group A Championship - Saturday #2 v #3 - Thursday evening Group B #1 v #4 - Friday afternoon Group B Championship - Sunday #2 v #3 - Friday evening
  21. That might be what eventually happens anyway!!
  22. I think if UND keeps getting awarded to host regionals at Fargo and Sioux Falls every other year, schools/coaches are going to see that maybe something has to change.
  23. Don't forget Frozen 4 in St Paul in 2018 as well.
  24. For all the people that still think that UND should have "stuck it to the NCAA" and kept the Fighting Sioux name, know this: Had UND kept the Sioux name, they would not be have been awarded the chance to host any postseason championships, which included hosting at off campus sites like in Fargo and Sioux Falls. So for that reason alone it was unfortunately necessary to drop the name. (Not meaning to drift this thread into a nickname controversy, but just noting the importance of being able to host NCAA tournament games, especially in hockey).
