  1. I think a solid new organization would be able to get to the bottom of the questions I and BarnWintersportsEngelstad raised. Thatbis reporting that would be valuable to the community and help everyone understand.
  2. Track record. But heres the telling truth, we dont know what the exact issue and what value it has to each party. I think we both want to know that.
  3. Thats an assumed generalization that inflames the narrative, we may be actually narrowing down the nuts and bolts here. What would REA need UND "bailing them out on"?
  4. What additional subsidies? Not being dickish here. Serious question, just want to make sure I understand your viewpoint and thebissue better What do you mean by "additional subsidies" ... how much are we talking about per year and for what?
  5. this will be telling... What do you actually ... mean.... by saying that? What does " living wiyhin its means " look like to you?
  6. I see they decisions and manner in which the North Dakota University system manages itself, and how the bureaucratic UND administrations have bungled so much. I see how the REA manages itself. I guess what we should really be asking is when can REA start managing more of the day to day operations of UND!
  7. I would say this press release indicated the McGarry is not lying. Glossing over the issue is in the political arena, an admitance of truth in the opponents story.
  8. Kennedy's response seems a very political and non-engaging one. "What do mean there's a problem?" ... Arrogant. Insulting to the parties involved I would think, which tends to back up the trends and claims about Kennedy being bullish or standofish at best and disinterested in UND at the worst. I was really in favor of Kennedy at first, I disagree and have been disapointed in body of work so far. What I would like to know is if the money that REA takes as part of the agreement goes into the foundation that benefits University..... Is the arguement really just semantics of where money lays on budget reports? McGarry isnt taking profit out of the deal at all right? If the money REA takes in goes to maintain the facility and support student athletes how is this a bad thing. I gues objectively its important to follow the money, and ask those questions. What really is the problem here? How is UND effected by receiving the money they get from the REA?... What is the requested change to the agreement? How does that make UND or the arena better off? How exactly is UND Athletics hurt by the current situation?
  9. Why does this remind me about the plot of Fletch Lives? Indoor Farnsworth amusement park?
  10. Boston hockey teams don't go slummin west of the Appalachians very often, I'm sure they will find Mankato culturally and intellectually stimulating.
  11. Crosses a big line. Saying things like this really trivializes how terrible and evil spouse abuse is. Lets find a different way to express your issues and resentment towards the hockey team/REA.
  12. I will say from a journalistic standpoint, I believe the Herald did a poor job at best of presenting a full story. That being said.... "Mr. Kennedy your 9am appointment is here"....
  13. Not the battle we need right now, but the battle we deserve.
  14. regardless of the light in which we disagree on the framing of this issue. It reeeelly is not a good thing for UND and right now is a bad time for it, this probably does deserve its own thread as it will be a huge topic tomorrow. I don't share your optimism for Kennedys image in this sloberknocker.
  15. All business is personal. A threatens a lawsuit, B burns down your house.
  16. I will say, talk about a story to bury the stupid mascot kerfuffle...........
  17. A front page article pitting UND vs its largest benefactor is NOT good for UND, at all. I would doubt any minor win in the contract for short term financial gain would compare to the shiytball of fury if this mess snowballs. Never met an Engelstad, but I do know for a fact that the state in NO way will put up with any BS about funding needed in Forks or at UND if the mess causes real issues with private entities who are willingly funding multiple areas of athletic and academic and economic streams. I would suggest Kennedy enter the front doors, bend the knee and kiss the bronzed foot of ol Ralph's statue, and beg this doesn't cost him his next few jobs too. The next time a "Central Florida" is looking, that institution will want none of someone who pisses off teh donors for pittance, especially when the end game is in the University's favor.
  18. You have zero dam clue what the REA actually has meant and will mean for the future of Grand Forks. But hey lets shuck off the best thing that GF has for economic generation and put all your hopes on the economic impact of those 5 dates a year for football. God damn thats stupid.
  19. Or maybe the Herald is just trying to sell papers. Ill never get over the arrogance of people in Forks some times, do you realize what little we actually have up there? Good lord keep dreaming.
  20. When it comes to keeping the benevolent donors happy, Kennedy should know his job is to wipe his chin and say thank you. Only way UND loses real money is by losing the Engelstads
  21. Could it possibly be Kennedy is just throwing a tantrum now that Berry is paid more? Berry was at what, $306,000 Kennedy's base is $356,000 Berry 's new base is $400,000.... Could be a case of ....... #GreenWithEnvy
  22. AHL team would be through the door faster than poop through a goo... Hawk? UND would play in .....the Icon? UND without the Ralph is Mayville State with a stagnant coulee.
  23. Based on historical record, Kennedy has much shorter market expectancy than the Current REA leadership. I can see the brain drain of leadership thinking they would have a pleasant experience playing in a huge empty football field end zone as opposed to the Betty, that would be on par with the quality of decision making in the UND Administration.
  24. Go ahead and make that threat. Go play in the parking structure. I'm sure the response by the REA to that pathetic threat from Kennedy?......
  25. The talk of the grand cities mall reminds me of the gateway mall in Bismarck... both are a blight on the landscape. Huge areas of massive potential for commercial real estate redevelopment.... but being held in the limbo world of quasi functioning. The cities should do everything they can, including maybe an "accidental" fire or runaway payloader incident to rid the structures and redevelop. Massive missed tax collection potential, I think it would be in the people best interest to for city government to act, but neither will. I will just continue to #PrayForMyRims
