I think its going to take at least 5 years and then the financial difference can be compared fairly. The Sioux logo is never coming back, but will always be celebrated. Heres a question for ya.... in 35 years or so say maybe 3 generations from when the the change was demanded... Say the tribes and rubberspined backbone of political correct libralism swings back in the gentle wind of needing a new cause and suddenly.... There's mass butthurt over the rasist and bigoted genocide of Native imagery in sports is the outrage of the privledged elite...... What happens then? Does the head of the NCAA demand the reinstatement of previous native created images....who knows what zhe will enforce at that point... Altgough by that time I suspect all mascots & logos will be banned along with competative contact sports. In morbid reality it may very well be that the concept of athletics associated with higher education may ne a thing of the past, so it all wont matter.

A live hawk would do quite a bit to make people adapt to the new name. The cool factor of a hawk swooping down out of the rafters of the Ralph to eat a dead rodent on the ice after the first goal..... (ala nashville tradition) would be great. When you think about it it would be almost a textbook tactic on how to create new traditions. They could still form a committee to discuss the species and then hold a vote to determine a name .....and then pick something different when the students vote to name the hawk......... Sioux. This would also give the butt hurt activist perpetual victimists a new reason to live in protesting the use of a live animal.

I just hope that the next mascot doesnt have googly eyes and a limp pecker coming out of its mouth.... #VoteNoDinker
