I agree with this mostly but I do think there was a small window where Smaby felt like the favorite to me. Now he’s hardly mentioned. There was a brief period where, on here at least, felt like Raboin really could be the guy. That feels squashed now. I felt like it would be impossible for them to just turn it over to Jackson but now I’m not so sure.

Putting a “short leash” on a coach we haven’t even announced yet is absolute lunacy. There’s a strong chance we see a lot of portal entries, especially if it’s not Dane. Next year could be rough, if that’s the case. You have to give the coach some time. I always think a college coach should get a minimum of 4 years but I guess you could argue that’s not as necessary these days with the portal. Still, don’t agree with the short leash.

Dane wouldn’t be my top choice, I’m team Raboin. Having said that, Brad’s article today, while it might just be propaganda, isn’t wrong. No matter how we feel at the time of the hire, all that matters is the results. If it’s Dane, I’m all in and you all should be too. I support this University, not individuals. Will I be critical if it’s unsuccessful, sure. But that’s part of fandom. But I’m also not going to end my loyalty to my Alma mater.
