Well finally cooled down from the sun yesterday and took a scroll through this thread on the way home from Ames. Overall, we can’t be that mad with that game, right? I get no moral victories and we have to start thinking we are going to win these things but all things considered I’m feeling okay with how this season will go. Lots of positives but negatives to go along with it. The o-line is one of the huge positives. We had no idea what to expect and I’d say they showed a lot of potential especially with the push on the run game. Loved the center puking on the ball . Simon. He was too conservative. Maybe he was told to be since the QB room is thin now or maybe the reads just weren’t there. I’m not against the horizontal passing game but we have to add some verticality. Can Deng Deng add that at some point this year? Defense. Man I thought we were going to get 50 burgered after that first drive. We picked it up though. Run defense was really good. Pass defense, meh not so much. I really wonder how different the game would have been if Erkman pulls down that interception on the first play. What ifs. Montana nearly lost to Missouri State last night at home. I think we can do it next week. Hoping to see the playbook opened up a bit more. Well lubricated crowd will only help.

I’ve been trying to figure out why now? If he is able to land somewhere for this season, fine but if he doesn’t does he still burn a year of eligibility?

I have mixed feelings on what’s going through Trey’s head. Maybe he has something lined up at the D2 level where he can likely start right away or after a couple weeks and then if he performs well, he can transfer up, if D1 is the goal. On the other hand, yeah you just lost a QB battle but to another unproven kid. I think there was a high chance he was going to get playing time and if he performed well he could take the job. Now maybe he just saw Simon lighting it up and realized he didn’t have a chance. I don’t know, best of luck to Trey unless we play him.

I’m excited to see his offense. He keeps saying it won’t differ from Danny’s that much but I would imagine it does quite a bit more than he leads on. For starters, sounds like we’ll be doing no huddle. And maybe he’ll utilize the TE’s more like everyone wants.

I haven’t really heard much about Langden College. Figured he would be someone that would push for his shirt being pulled. Came in in the spring.

Not saying Fruechte is going to put Romfo’s health on the line but I would guess they won’t be as concerned about him getting hurt as they maybe were with Tommy the past few years. That’s simply due to Trey and Jerry being closer to ready. I guess that’s assuming that Romfo just won the job and not that Trey and Jerry lost it.

Missing a 5-6 season is something. Maybe if he never got hurt it would have been different. The Montana game was certainly fun but that’s about it.

I know we have consistently been around that 7 win mark but how would people view that at the end of the year? 7-5 with a new OC, OL coach, new oline besides Seth Anderson and new QB? I don’t want to go as far as saying that would be a successful season, as we need to aim higher than that, but I do feel like we would be optimistic about the following year. Especially if the portal doesn’t kill us.

I believe it’s just for practice as a way to see where the QB is looking when watching film.
